You are lucky knowing this when u r a teenager, am 45 and i will start now, been saving all my life but never got into investment...study the compound interest effect and stay consistent with ur investments ( 1 dollar now invested will be 3 dollars after 10 years at the rate of 11% which is the standard rate of s&P 500) and u will retire at my age, u have the time at ur side dont ruin it like i did.
Thanks for suggesting an exact Index fund and a broker. I like people with an opinion, even a wrong opinion is better than "It depends ...." opinion. Most bloggers say "You know, it really depends on bla bla blaa..." - and they are probably right, but it does not help.
Thanks Ziet! If I chose accumulating dividends, how would I know they've been added to the position? Does the cost basis increase? Or just the market value? Thanks!
Hey Ziet, your videos are awesome! Thank you so much for this! I’m in the US! By the way the IBKR account is really cool. As far as taxes go I pay close to 30% lol.
this is only the first time i came to find ur video, im already very invested. thank you so much. btw, since im indonesian would u also suggest to use interactive broker to invest in s&p 500? i also happened to be a wise app user for the past two years
Hi sathira!! Definitely, IBKR is a solid choice for all that it offers, personally am a happy customer for years already 😁 can sign up here: www.interactivebrokers.com/mkt/?src=zietPY2&url=%2Fen%2Fwhyib%2Foverview.php%3Fnored%3Dt
Thanks @ZietInvests for this video! Im in between to invest in VUAA or CSPX seeing that there’s fractional shares features available on IKBR now. May i ask what is the downside should i take fractions of CSPX or the most 1 shares (given the price) vs VUAA where i can get more shares but lower liquidity for the same price. How does this translate to brokerage fees, i.e with USD 300 do i incurred more for fractional shares in CSPX or better off with VUAA with more shares in the long run? Plan to hold for longer/long term investment.
VOO vs CSPX is debatable for starter. I found that it's depend on your DCA amount as the fee is $0.35 vs $1.70. If the amount is tiny then VOO > CSPX. Maybe can swap VOO to CSPX for the 15% more on dividend after you hit certain amount.
@@looshenq At first glance brokerage fee of CSPX = 4x of VOO, but CSPX brings a little dividend WHT savings, so for every VOO you plan to buy, ideally buy 3 CSPX. But then again, this is very subjective due to different people aiming to save different amount of brokerage fee. You can totally get away with 1 or 2 shares of CSPX for each trade as well, its not the end of the world!
Hi Ziet, good day to u. Very good content as always. Just want to ask. Does the fractional share purchase applicable to Irish domiciled ETF too? Or just US domiciled ETF? THANKS 🙏
Great job! Thank you from Tunisia. I have bee investing DCA in SPY and QQQ for the last 2 years but I didnt know about the taxation and inheritance fees (40%) I just moved to CSPX. I don't know what I should do for QQQ/QQQM
Investing in the stock market has HISTORICALLY provided higher returns than other forms of investment. According to Morningstar, the average annual return for the S&P 500 index, which measures the performance of 500 large-cap stocks, was approximately 10% from 1926 to 2020.
Stocks are pretty unstable at the moment, but if you do the right math, you should be just fine. Bloomberg and other finance media have been recording cases of folks gaining over $610k just in a matter of weeks/couple months, so I think there are a lot of wealth transfer in this downtime if you know where to look.
The best course of action if you lack market knowledge is to ask a consultant or investing coach for guidance or assistance. Speaking with a consultant helped me stay afloat in the market and grow my portfolio to about 65% since January, even though I know it sounds obvious or generic. I believe that is the most effective way to enter the business at the moment.
Fiduciary counselors have access to exclusive information and data sources that aren't available to the broader public. By heeding the guidance of my fiduciary counselor *Camille Alicia Garcia* ,I managed to generate earnings exceeding $820,000 during the third and fourth quarters of 2022. I have high expectations for continued success.
I just looked up Camille online and researched her accreditation. She seem very proficient, I wrote her detailing my Fin-market goals and scheduled a call.
Bro thank you for the videos. Just starting out. But after watching a few of your videos. I would like to know if I should use interactive broker or m+ global to buy s&p 500 index.
Am 45 YO, been saving all my work life but never got into almost risk-free investments like s&P 500, at the time u posted that video s&P 500 was usd 409 today after 2 years its usd 514 which is 12% compounded return (amazing returns). Im from Jordan middle east and i wonder if the interactive broker would be a good starting point for me? and also am kinda scared cuz i've been saving all my life and to put all my savings 300K into stocks is freaking me out...
Yeah the US economy does grow at a pace that sometimes its a little too hard to believe, well, thats the story of the S&P 500 index. In my opinion Interactive Brokers have been nothing less than solid for all intents & purposes - investing or trading, for all levels of users be it beginner or intraday traders, and their market cap (NASDAQ:IBKR) have been growing so much ever since. You can always start small and adjust your investments accordingly, no need to go all in on 1 shot! Hope this helps ;)
Hi Ziet! Thanks for the great video. I have a quick question. I am a non resident alien in US right now. Next year, I am planning on going back to Uzbekistan. What would you recommend me on where to open an Interactive Brokers account. Do you think I can open an account here in US and keep using it even when I am out of country? OR should I do that in my country? The problem is I do not have a VISA to come back to US, and getting a visa can be questionable. Sorry for dumping you with a long question. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks Zeit just wanna ask i cannot purchase stock like Voo or Schd because it show something called KID do you know what this is or how can i buy those etf.
I heard Warren Buffet suggesting S&P 500 for non expert investors to nest their savings. Until I saw your ghannel I did not know how to, and wher/what S&P to invest. You have explained the USA and Ireland S&P 500. Can you pls suggest a) suitable S&P 500 to invest in UK b) a China Equivalent of S&P 500; there have been speculations that US will be going through a down turn (as have been shown by banks failures there), and it may be the same for China, but we wonder what are available to spread our investment
Hi Bakri, I haven't dived into that before, but take note for if there's any other brokerage fee/expense ratio/sales charge of the "plan". If its only brokerage fee then i think 0.08% is perfectly fine (though I doubt so, the brokerage fee is usually a minimum of say 10 USD or x%, very rarely its % based for brokers like FSMOne)
@@ZietInvests Thanks for the response Ziet. Just checked their site. For the regular savings plan (RSP) for ETF including VOO, processing fee is 0.08% or minimum USD 1 and stamp duty which is RM 1 for every RM1000 contract value, maximum RM200.
@7:43 You mentioned you like limit. I always go for market orders because I find myself getting anxious waiting for the orders to go through (it almost always go through but I still get anxious haha). I wonder how much of a benefit I get with limit orders since the spread for s&p 500 etfs are usually very low and I always place orders during active market hours. I buy and hold for the long term (decades). Should I start placing limit orders instead? Or are market orders fine? 🤔
Haha it seems like you already have the answer! To be honest, market or limit order, if your investment horizon is long-term, either should work just as fine. If you are feeling anxious, you would need to work on calming that nerves because you will be triggered by certain news to place rushed/irrational trades - just something to ponder on!
As Ziet says you already have your answer, what I do... I pool from Yahoo the historical price (Daily) for S&P500 for the last 5 days or 3 months and then look in excel at the LOW price column for the past week or for the past 7 days and I'm averaging that, then you put an order (Limit) with that average price, with or without stop loss as you want and let it simmer for 1 Day see if the market touches' that in the day or recalculate and put it again tomorrow, and calm your nerves, you will never miss anything you are on the long term...
Thank you for alerting to the Inheritance Tax of S&P 500 run from the US. The one run from Ireland is excellent advise. Can you suggest a S&P 500 run from UK pls?
hi Ziet, great video! would like to ask a question to get your opinion on this: would you recommend me, as a non-resident in Malaysia, to invest in a ireland-domiciled S&P500 index such as VUSA or CSPX instead of VOO, in order to avoid the 30% withholding tax on dividends and to only pay 15% withholding tax on dividends? i’m concerned about US withholding tax implications on dividends, and would like to get your take on this!
Hi ziet. Would appreciate if you could do a video on US bond investment as a non us citizen (malaysian). Particularly the total bond market (BND). Are we subjected to the 30% tax on the coupon/dividend payout for US bond.
Hi Mandeep, thanks for the suggestion! However at the moment im not so much of a bond investor hence I might not be able to give everyone a well-informed research as compared to equities/stocks, but nonetheless ill put that into my to-do list for a future video!
Hey there, yep there is! One is annual return which is a percentage that tells you how much an investment has increased in value on average per year, whereas for dividend is where a portion of a company's profits are distributed to shareholders - both are different things.
Hello i been watching your videos recently. Im from Australia and im planning to invest on s&p 500 . Ive options between cspx and vuaa but i can buy only one stock of cspx while i can buy 5 of vuaa per month. Can you please tell me which one should i go for? Feedback would really be appreciated as i can’t decide which one to buy. Love💕
I have been investing in individual stocks since 2015. Mainly on the ASX and mainly large cap established businesses so nothing too outlandish. I have a pretty good coverage of the market in terms of sectors and its up about the same as if I had just purchased a market tracker like VAS (ASX300). Anyway, I have decided to start DCA in to the S&P500 now and plan to do so for a while. I usually invest every quarter or so. My question is this - do you think I should hang fire and see what happens for the next few months - theres a few people talking about downturn coming and I mean take a look at the historical graph for the S&P its pretty freaky. Or would you just go in now in the knowledge that hey it might drop but it might not, thats why we DCA? Cheers
Hi Paul, thanks for your feedback and to be honest that is a great question, but a lot of stuffs are up in the air right now - pending the development of the war, interest rate hike, hyperinflation etc. etc. If you are interested in my stance, I would prefer to DCA and stay in the market rather than timing it as thats the whole point of index investing (unless you have a different view then thats totally cool), plus hyperinflation could also mean bloated asset price = rise in the index, so you also wouldn't want to risk losing out from the continued run. If you have enough invested and don't mind the wait, you can obviously wait for 200 MA or anything along that line to enter the market - who's there to say right or wrong! But of course, I would also practice holding higher cash buffer, the economy nowadays can turn very sour reallllly quickly due to the unorthodox surge ever since March 2020 thanks to the non-stop quantitative easing. Hope this explains my view!😊
Once again, thank you for the great job. About SP500 ETF, what do you think about the XDEW SP500 equal weighted ETF? I saw several videos talking about this equal weighed ETF saying the volatility is less important than other classic SP 500 ETF and its performance as well is better.
Hmmm i personally dont like that, there’s a reason why the losers have lower weightage, they are bound to be deleted and kicked out so i wouldnt like more weightage on them
Hi Eric, they are 2 different thing for investors with different risk appetite though. I would easily prefer VOO over robo advisor if you ask me - significantly lower fees, more credible with better track record!
@@ZietInvests I noticed Stashaway is launching all the thematic type of portfolios, is there a chance for them to outperform the s&p500 average return?
@@ericsitho5894 It’s very subjective and not an easy Yes or No question. Thematic portfolio are usually focused on 1 particular sector - whether it makes or breaks depend on how feasible the theme is. Usually sounds fancy but require a humungous effort in order for them to come to fruition, and most of the other growth stocks will die down due to failure to breakthrough. If you ask me, over the long-term, nope, S&P 500 should prevail most of the funds out there as long as USD stays in tact.

I'm holding maybank before the ex date of dividend announcement. The pay date was the 14th April, however I still hasn't received the dividend. May I ask how do we see the dividend paid on rakuten platform? And how long does it take to credit us?
Hi MingWei, its actually in Rakuten’s FAQ, since they are introducing broker to IBKR, they can take around 1 week before receiving the dividends and give it to you in your account balance 😄
@@ZietInvests yeah i had a look into their FAQ and saw that it can take upto 3-5days, but it's nearly the 5ty day now. Maybe i should be more patient 😂 thanks anyway!
Ziet, wanna ask if investing in individual stock such as Tesla. When we sell it, there is no tax involved right? By the way, I am from Malaysia. But if there is any individual us stock pays dividends, then the dividend payout will be subjected to 30% withholding tax right? Not quite understand, I always thought selling us individual will get taxed at 30%. Haha, quite a newbie me..

I earned more in just viewing... watching the index change through an agent is not exactly that or a change in capital from a gain after a transfer of funds once a stock exchange traded fund is purchased... but I feel ept and equipped... or as an operable and rather profitable broker in an equate measure... innate in functioning and being operable after viewing your informative material.

I hope to invest on S&P 500 through Hargreaves Lansdown UK trading; or in your case, say invested through Intractive Broker. Say I invested in the Vanguard VUSA or VUAG or VOO, all domicile in Ireland. What happens if a) the trading platform (eg Hargreaves Lansdown (my trading plaform) or your Interactive Broker) goes bankrupt. Will I still be safe with my ETF investment; do I get a certifcate of shares/ETF holding - so that I can sell. What happens if b) the ETF management company In Ireland goes broke. Do I lose everything; or do I have some sort of certificate validating my holding that I can sell to recover my investment. My apology for these silly questions.
No question is silly! a) the trading platform goes bankrupt All brokerages are required to keep clients' assets separate from their own, if it goes bankrupt, , your assets will be transferred to another brokerage firm. b) if ETF management company goes bankrupt Same rules apply! Your ETFs should be separated from the issuer’s balance sheet, your securities remains yours Hopefully it helps!
Hi Jin Weng, I never done it myself but as far as i know, it will help you to buy fractional shares (if applicable) upon dividend payment date, with commission fee attached. Not sure if this is cost effective, i personally just dislike to see so many decimals (fractional shares) hence i never bothered about it haha!
Would it make sense to invest in Cspx and VOO simultaneously? Or would it be redundant? I recently started investing in Cspx through a local broker. But the problem with it is low liquidity.
Kinda redundant, either one should suffice, but regardless, go with whichever that is more convenient for you and don't cost you a bomb in brokerage fee. There's no right or wrong in investing! Just don't let the bank/brokers profit too much from you! ;)

Depends on which ETF you went for, for accumulating ETF like CSPX you dont have to do anything, just buy and buy, it will reinvest itself without paying any dividends For Distributing ETF like VOO SPY IVV, they distribute cash dividend to your IBKR account balance on dividend payment date. Technically you can setup dividend reinvestment to buy fractional shares but that would incur commission charges, not something that I am keen to do myself though
How to buy small portion of Vanguard s&p500? There's no option for portion of shares like 0.5 , 0.65 etc, instead need to buy directly 1,2 shares. Cuz I can't afford whole as a student, help brother
Hey there! You can check out this video to see submit a request for fractional shares here: ua-cam.com/video/MLP0NUfskFI/v-deo.html&ab_channel=ZietInvests
Hi Natalija, do you mean dividend reinvestment? Currently only US stocks and ETFs have the capability of purchasing fractional shares (which means using the dividend to buy more no. of shares instead of receiving cash dividends).

Phenomenal breakdown and info! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!😄😄 do check out our other videos too!
Hello from Armenia. Thanks for your efforts Ziet, this worked like a charm.
Hi Edgar, hello there from Malaysia! Glad you found this video useful☺️

Thank you so much Emy! So glad to see you back here again hehe
VOO team here ! Good video. Thx.
Haha nice!! Keep calm and continue DCA!

Correcto! And thank you very much for pointing that out - should really make a video to address that!
May I ask how tiny is tiny?
@@looshenq At first glance brokerage fee of CSPX = 4x of VOO, but CSPX brings a little dividend WHT savings, so for every VOO you plan to buy, ideally buy 3 CSPX. But then again, this is very subjective due to different people aiming to save different amount of brokerage fee. You can totally get away with 1 or 2 shares of CSPX for each trade as well, its not the end of the world!
@@ZietInvests Ok great. Will dwelve a little more into it but thanks for the reply and info
I prefer VUAA
Hi Ziet, good day to u. Very good content as always. Just want to ask. Does the fractional share purchase applicable to Irish domiciled ETF too? Or just US domiciled ETF? THANKS 🙏
Hi Victor, fractional shares trading only available to US ETFs & stocks yea (via IBKR), Irish ETFs/other exchanges no fractional shares trading
Great job!
Thank you from Tunisia.
I have bee investing DCA in SPY and QQQ for the last 2 years but I didnt know about the taxation and inheritance fees (40%)

Hi Tarak, I’d think it’s totally fine to diversify and hold both ;)

@@maryHenokNft please who is the consultant that assist you with your investment and if you don't mind, how do I get in touch with them?
Fiduciary counselors have access to exclusive information and data sources that aren't available to the broader public. By heeding the guidance of my fiduciary counselor *Camille Alicia Garcia* ,I managed to generate earnings exceeding $820,000 during the third and fourth quarters of 2022. I just looked up Camille online and researched her accreditation. She seem very proficient, I wrote her detailing my Fin-market goals and scheduled a call.
My name is Rinchen n I’m watching this video from India
Hi Rinchen, greetings from Malaysia!
Great sharing Ziet, thank you!

I heard Warren Buffet suggesting S&P 500 for non expert investors to nest their savings. Until I saw your ghannel I did not know how to, and wher/what S&P to invest. You have explained the USA and Ireland S&P 500. Can you pls suggest a) suitable S&P 500 to invest in UK b) a China Equivalent of S&P 500; there have been speculations that US will be going through a down turn (as have been shown by banks failures there), and it may be the same for China, but we wonder what are available to spread our investment
watching alot of youtube to try understand, I see that there are only few countries of domicile for S&P 500. There is none domicile UK I think.
Hi Ziet, thank you for excellent content as always. What do you think about FSMOne ETF RSP program? Can buy VOO and brokerage fee of 0.08%
Hi Bakri, I haven't dived into that before, but take note for if there's any other brokerage fee/expense ratio/sales charge of the "plan".
Good video on S&P 500
Thanks

Can you suggest a S&P 500 run from UK pls?

would you recommend me, as a non-resident in Malaysia, to invest in a ireland-domiciled S&P500 index such as VUSA or CSPX instead of VOO, in order to avoid the 30% withholding tax on dividends and to only pay 15% withholding tax on dividends?

Haha you funny as f bro. Love the information/humor balance 🎉
Haha so glad you liked it brother!
Is there a difference between the average 5-10% yearly market return of say the VUSA S&P 500 Index ETF and what we usually call dividends?
Hey there, yep there is! One is annual return which is a percentage that tells you how much an investment has increased in value on average per year, whereas for dividend is where a portion of a company's profits are distributed to shareholders - both are different things.

Can share more about Option trade in future?
It's not something that I'm actively pursuing at the moment, but maybe one day in the future!
Step by step thank you
You're most welcome!

Whats your thoughts in terms of ROI if I use robo advisor Stash Away at 36% risk vs VOO across a period of 8 years hehe
Hello ! I have a question for you, hope you reply. I'm from europe, interested into investing in the S&P 500. The thing is, I am 18 and can't afford to buy a whole share. I have submitted a permission approval for frictions, but you said that this feature is only available for US customers. Is it right? Is there some other S&P 500 ETF that is more affordable? What do you thinknof spus ?
Meaning for us in msia, dividend from foreign stonk no need to report tax ?
Technically, yes, since it's been withheld by IBKR to pay the US side, so there shouldn't be any double taxation here in Malaysia
Hi Ziet, since you mentioned about Voo which pay dividend to investors, I have a question here which is a bit off topic. It's regarding Rakuten trade.

VOO and IB here 🤗
Hehe yay to team IB!
hello, how about the Minimum Monthly Activity Fee since it is an index fund and we wont be trading alot? are we still getting charge for it?
Hi John, there wont be any inactivity fee charged by the broker 😄 the index fund only charge a 0.03% fee on your returns, so you dont have to worry about that! 😄

No question is silly!
a) the trading platform goes bankrupt
All brokerages are required to keep clients' assets separate from their own, if it goes bankrupt, , your assets will be transferred to another brokerage firm.
b) if ETF management company goes bankrupt
Same rules apply! Your ETFs should be separated from the issuer’s balance sheet, your securities remains yours
Hopefully it helps!

Depends on which ETF you went for, for accumulating ETF like CSPX you dont have to do anything, just buy and buy, it will reinvest itself without paying any dividends
For Distributing ETF like VOO SPY IVV, they distribute cash dividend to your IBKR account balance on dividend payment date. Technically you can setup dividend reinvestment to buy fractional shares but that would incur commission charges, not something that I am keen to do myself though
