Genaro sure enough thought he was gonna beat Oscar because the first few rds Oscar didn't dig up in his ass yet . Before his fights Oscars opponents thought he was hyped up n that he wasn't that good n he showed them with his deceptive speed ,power,n accuracy . Oscar wad a class act in the sport of boxing.
I watched this fight on PPV back in 1995, I am a Boxing fan first. Genaro R.I.P. was a great champion. But this was a young Oscar who could throw, and he beat Genaro up, and then the excuses came. I really dislike excuses when it comes to Boxing,
@@colincampbell7928 well, the degree of injury differs (despite having the both same injuries). Hernandez nose was broke into what 20 pieces and I think breathing was too hard for him. Not downplaying Gatti or making excuses for Genaro, but I could still fight with a broken hand but (it depends) not with a broken nose. Plus, the fight was close and Genaro was doing good. I don't think any fighter will just quit when they are still doing good if they have really a good reason.
Oscar de la Hoya #1 🥊🥇🇲🇽🇺🇸
I remember reading about this fight. Apparently Genaro’s nose was smashed in several places. He was a great champion. RIP Chicanito
Its know he had broken his nose during sparring before the fight unfortunately
Alan Barriga Wow
70 plus fractures in his nose, I know I comment this everywhere, but this was impressive

Genaro would quit against Oscar then later against Mayweather.......no heart.
He was getting beat badly vs Floyd
Good guy but a broken nose? Come on, this is boxing. Arturo Gatti broke his hand several times.
I wanna see ya'll do what he does
Who are you to question his heart? Genaro was a great champion who only lost to De La Hoya and Floyd Mayweather.
