I believe that the counter shaft was assembled slightly off, i noticed it was this way when you did the disassembly video as well, it should be nut/bearing/washer, on the end of the shaft where in this it is nut/washer/bearing... i didn't keep track when i took mine apart but when i put it together as is in the video i had a ton of inward outward movement with the reverse speed gear and synchronizer ring. (I did everything with transmission still in vehicle so i was able to start it up and see everything spinning) I thought something had to be off and i found a disassembled diagram of the transmission and watched another video and the washer is between the reverse speed gear and the bearing from what i seen.
Good videos. do you have a video of the reassembly of the 5th/ reverse hub that came apart during disassembly? Also no mention of the dots on the hubs and there reassembly.
Mine makes a chatter noise after it worms up an some times it’s hard to get into 1st gear not sure if that’s a transmission fault or if it’s the hurst short throw shifter I put on it my transmission is still leaking out of the imputshaft seal I just replace it tho
@@tobylillie6540 you can use a box end wrench it is something huge like 2 5/16 or something like that. They also make a special tool that acts as a reducer to use a smaller wrench. Otherwise you have to get creative, hammer and punch, shop made tool, air chisel.

My first transmission rebuild. And I forgot the ball and spring in the shift fork. Had no 5th gear. Wow thanks haha

Im trying to figure why mine is stuck in a gear. The shifter housing is lining up without any kinks but still theres a gear in place.
How the heck do you torque the output shaft lock nut?
Lock the gear box into 2 gears at once. First and third for example. This will lock the gear train and allow you to tighten the nuts.

What would cause 5th to pop out under load i can hold it with alot of force but it will allways instantly pop out please help
Wear in the 5R fork / sleeve / speed gear. There was a TSB on early models to update to later revision parts.
