  • Disney Dream Very Merrytime Cruise! Join us for a 5-night sailing on the Dream out of Port Everglades!
The Christmas season is our very favorite time of year and we could not think of a better way to celebrate than a Disney cruise! We are so excited to share this vlog series and all the Dream has to offer for the holidays.
This cruise was extra special. We were not only set to embark on the inaugural Port Everglades sailing as well as the first Merrytime on the Dream for this year, but this was the first cruise ever for our dear friends, the Coleman family.
Port Everglades was relatively easy to navigate. We parked on site. There were no issues with dropping our luggage with the porters. We were in and through security rather timely but there were some technical issues along the way and the check-in process took much longer than any other Disney cruise we've sailed. The Port arrival times and actual times into the terminal were drastically different for many other cruisers, including our friends. The theming of the Port is adorable with Nemo and Friends and of course, the Mickey tunnel. After a few photos, we headed to the ship where we were welcomed aboard!
On embarkation day we typically dine at Animator's for a more relaxed lunch. Due to all the delays at the terminal, we missed lunch by a few minutes. Thankfully, Cabana's was open and we enjoyed the variety of offerings. Staterooms were available and we were able to head directly to our rooms before the Muster.
For this sailing we stayed in 7542, a deluxe verandah stateroom. The location was very convenient just off the forward stairs and elevators. The room is appointed with a queen bed, convertible sofa twin sleeper, and Pullman bed. We love the split bath plan. The verandah is a highlight as well.
After the Muster Drill we made our way to the Sail Away Party where we enjoyed seeing Mickey, Minnie, and the gang. Due to ongoing delays at the Port, we did not set sail following the deck party. Ship activities we were underway so we made our way to the Walt Disney Theater for the Golden Mickey's. The Christmas tree lighting ceremony followed and Santa and Mrs. Claus were there!
We set sail at 8pm, just before dinner. This was one of many firsts for us, a late sailing. Characters were out in their holiday attire and the atrium was bustling with activity! Donald sure looked great in his coat, didn't he?
We dined at Royal Palace and enjoyed some new (to us) menu items. The chicken bastilla and the mango soup were fantastic. Dessert was definitely a highlight of the meal.
The day was certainly full as embarkation day usually is. We certainly hope you enjoyed the vlog as we enjoyed sharing our day with you! Onward to our next Christmassy adventure!

Love that you captured some special moments for the Coleman’s. Day 1 was interesting but thankfully we had the Duke Family to reassure us that this is not the norm!! Can’t wait to relive the memories of the next few days!!

Port Everglades is one of my least favourite US ports and I try to avoid booking cruises departing from there. Port Miami is very convenient when staying in South Beach. So sorry that your Cruiseday was disappointing. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the cruise!

It is a little strange to get there for sure. Disney has made the port their own unlike Miami but our favorite is always Port Canaveral. Thanks for watching

Any advice or tips for using the parking garages or the process of unloading bags and then parking? We are cruising for the first time and I have not seen much about the terminal parking here since it is newer.

It is a little different than Port Canaveral or even Miami if you have sailed out of there. Traffic flow is not bad you just follow the flow on the bottom of the parking garage where you will see officers and porters for Terminal 4. Everyone stays in the car except those who are unloading. Than just proceed up the ramp where you get parking ticket and than take elevator down to terminal 4. You pay on your way out of the parking lot at these kiosks. The only think I would remember is bring the ticket you get when parking with you on the cruise because you will need that to pay at the kiosks or you will have to go back to your car and get it. I think the kiosks are on Level 1 and 5. Have a great time

Hate to see all the problems that happened on day 1. We sailed on the Dream in Europe this summer and even though we were not first time cruisers we were travelling with a big group who were. We have numerous problems on day 1 and im wondering if it is a solely Dream problem. They switched our rooms without telling us. It was a disaster. There was no rectification and it was sad to see. If we were first time cruisers it would have definitely turned us off as well. And strangely similar, we also had to turn back to the embarkation port because of a medical emergency.

We felt really sorry for those first time cruisers because they did not know any better. Disney did not reach out to them to explain. That really was our first bad experience in 24 cruises. But the beds were the worse. Must have been a 1 800 mattress sell. Thanks for watching

Just found you guys while doing my research about Port Everglades. We’ve only cruised once before, last year, out of Port Canaveral on the Wish. You mentioned they grouped you by your boarding group? How does that work? Do they section you off? We lucked out & got boarding group 4 as first time cruisers last year. My guess is we will not be that high up again but I guess we’ll see. Any additional info specific to port Everglades? We’re taking a shuttle from a nearby hotel. Whatever info you have is appreciated 😊. Looking forward to following along the rest of your trip. Hopefully it was a better experience for you than day 1 🤦🏻‍♀️🤞🏻.

So usually Disney boards like you experienced at Port Canaveral in which you show up for your port arrival time and go through TSA and check-in and then head upstairs to the main area before going through the Mickey Ears well now (even started doing it at Port Canaveral) they will have roped off area for those 1145 to 1200, 1200-1215 (corresponding to your port arrival time window, might be 30 min intervals) and so on and then you will go through TSA and check-in. We just experienced this last weekend at Port Canaveral like they did at Everglades. A part of our problem was 1st sailing and the internet went down so just made things worse as Disney never sailed out of Port Everglades before. But it was still a fun cruise and enjoyed everything after day 1. I think you will be just fine taking a shuttle. They will let you off right at area you walk in and you will see the roped off time areas. I think they are more organized now. Hope you have so much fun!!!

Worried…and as someone who has to fly in, now I’m hearing horrible things about the Hilton marina that I picked because I thought Disney would choose the best offerings 🤦🏻‍♀️
We will be taking our grandkids on first cruise on the Dream so hope they get it together soon!
Part of the ship missing sailaway party is soooo sad☹️
Unacceptable…I would be very disappointed if I didn’t get room decorations ☹️
Hope the rest of the cruise goes better👍🏼
Oh no! Now late to castaway😫
I understand emergencies but I’d be in that guest services line😞

I think it will be okay now. Have not heard any delay in embarkation since our first departure. Embassy Suites was okay outdated but clean not really heard anything about Hilton but real easy to get to port from Embassy. Our friend did what you are doing, flew in were picked up by Embassy and then paid to be transported to port by Embassy than took shuttle back to airport on disembarkation.
Yea, just did not have things work right first day but it did turn around and as you will see it was fun. Thank you for watching

If they pushed back the dining time it would have thrown everything off schedule for the evening…creating a bigger mess! It’s not like you didn’t get to eat.

Not really about didn't get to eat but more about both passenger and Cruise Line need to be flexible when unexpected things happen. Some people did not get to eat due the boarding problems.
