This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. I don't understand why more dentists don't consider the whole person and recommend a more holistic approach rather than just splints. That you recommend physical therapy, supplements along with a splint (or other way to resolve TMJ/TMD) is needed so much. I spy a book recommendation for The Dental Diet. Need to check out that video.
All these supplements sounds great to use. Thanks for this video. I’m having trouble choosing which one to start with. My main issue is pain in the jaw area from my grinding and clenching at night. I have been using a tmj mouth stabilizer for three weeks. Would ligaplex 1 be a good one to start with ? I have been using the tmj theraflex cream and really like it.
How long does a patient need to continue wearing a Splint during night time. Also, does continuous wearing of splint results in creating space between teeth with passage of time. Is TMJ completely cured or does one have to live with it with advancing age. I am 53 yrs and will be reaching 54 soon. So just worried about age issues
Lots of questions here that are not easy to answer via text/typing. If you’d like you can email patientcare@tmjdentaldoc.com to set up a zoom meeting with me :)
Thank you for the video, Priya! 3 months ago I was diagnosed with ridge disc displacement, with reduction on one side and without reduction on the other side. I'm experiencing constant ear ringing, headaches around my head like my temples and cheeks, jaw hinge tightness. Is there a supplement in particular that you would recommend? And would you recommend any specialists around the Seattle area? Thank you!
no, I'm sorry there's not a supplement I'd recommend for disc displacement without reduction. I don't know anyone in Seattle. Many patients drive from Seattle to see me.
Hello Dr. Priya. What is your opinion on taking Serrapeptase for reducing inflammation? My TMJ specialist has prescribed taking 125.000 IUs every day, but I can't say I've noticed much of a difference. Thank you.
I can’t really make a recommendation over the internet and without examining you in person. There’s a lot of information in the video, so that’s a good reference 😊
Hi Priya! I had this problem since 2020 whereas I can not breathe deeply and correctly. I recently just bought the Mountain peak join formula capsules for my TMJ and clicking and popping. Do you perhaps think this formula could help with the TMJ/ breathing all while going to a legit ENT and wearing a night guard?
I am not good at swallowing capsules. Can we open the capsules and dump out the powder into a spoon or water? I am hesitant on buying it because it's capsule form.
@@theTMJdoc Hi…which two would you recommend for someone with closed lock (35mm max, going on month 2-3 approx), pain, wearing a splint? I already take vit D, zinc, mag… I read B vitamins are good for TMJ? Thank you.
I was just diagnosed with anterior disc dislocation without reduction and they are wanting me to do surgery. Can this heal on it’s on with conservative treatment? Physical therapy? Let me know thank you.
Hi there! We treat this conservatives first with orthotics, myofascial release and osteopathic manual jaw manipulation. It takes 4-6 months with this treatment with weekly and biweekly appointments to resolve this successfully if this is an acute condition and can take longer if the disc has been displaced for longer than 6 months.
@@theTMJdoc on my right side I also have borderline partial anterior disc displacement on the right with reduction. Would you follow the same protocol as you just stated? Thanks.

ooh! and I love that you suggest Standard Process supplements, high quality solid brand
Yes they are ekdam best!
Dr. Priya,
Thanks for sharing the valuable information on the supplements.
You’re very welcome 🙏🏼
Great info, I find it so helpful to learn how to strengthen from the inside and practice preventative methods!
Thank you and yes, it’s so important to strengthen from the inside 😊🙏🏼

For pain I would go with the Osteo Formula due to the magnesium it contains 😊

Have you thought about Moringa? It seems to contain most of what you're talking about. It's a supper food.
I have not! I’ll look into it.. thank you!

Hi there. The joint formula likely won't help you breathe more deeply.

It’s not possible to open them up unfortunately. They are mostly in tablet form.
@@theTMJdoc are the tablets splittable/cuttable? If I can cut them smaller then I should be able to swallow them. Thanks!
Would it be safe to take all these supplements on a daily basis? Thank you :))
I wouldn’t take them all :) one or two should be good.

The Osteo Formula is the most likely one to help. Also try the muscle releases in my UA-cam playlist "TMJ Exercises/Muscle Releases".
