    this is a very cool lamp, nice job ! Hower I would have put the pin slightly off centered on the fork to create a place (by covering a part of the contact on the mount) where the lamp is off with the fork still on it's mount

      Thanks a lot, maybe it would have been better. I just found fork center of mass and drilled holes there (also, it was the thickest place of the fork. Otherwise magnets would not fit inside xD )

    Very cool project, I may have to make my own. LED filaments are becoming what EL wire couldn’t be. Though I have some doubts about the safety of the power supply considering the thin flexible layer on the underside.

    • @NickElectronics
      @NickElectronics  11 днів тому +1

      Yes, I was considering using EL wire, but it was just harder to use.
      Yes, agree with you. Definetely not safe. It has to be poured with epoxy 100%

    This is AMAZING!!!! WOW!!!! You just need to paint that epoxy black to match the black flexible arm AND paint the top of the magnets in the fork silver to match the fork (and MAYBE a thin layer of epoxy to fill in any gap between the top of the magnet and the surface of the fork.. and then sand it down to make it smooth...) - But these are just cosmetic things and don't really affect the lamp at all... which was SUCH A GREAT IDEA!!! I've never seen those strings/tubes of led light before... they are REALLY COOL!!! And you put them into the PERFECT PIECE to show off their capability... SO GENIUS!!!!
    - I just wish you gave us a link or something to where you bought it, I wouldn't even know what to search for to find it.. "led string" ?? "led spaghetti" ?? I don't think 'led rope' would work because they already have something with that name and it is just a flexible plastic tube with single leds spaced evenly through it, and it has screw on caps on the end to make it kinda water proof.... bah.. I'll figure it out...
    Between this and the spinning led 'lamp' I am SUPER IMPRESSED with your work!!! OF COURSE I'm now subbed, and I JUST CAN'T WAIT to see what you come up with next!!!! (I hope you turn the spinning lamp into a spinning display :D hehehe) - GREAT WORK!!!!

      @@Nobe_Oddy Wow, thanks for such a comment. Appreciate your feedback! Yep, cosmetics usually the hardest part to do, and most time consuming. Just prototyping is much more fun :D
      Its called LED filaments. You can find a lot on Aliexpress
      There are more cool projects to go. Thanks for following, you wont regret it! :)

    Can you give some recommendations on the V and the current?
    I'm using the 3v version with a 5v source and even with a 3ohm resistor it doesn't seem as bright as yours even though it supposed to be already more current than the .3 i see written on AliExpress.
    Do you think i should be able to run these directly 5v? Then it seems bright enough :)

    • @NickElectronics
      @NickElectronics  17 днів тому

      @@swagn3r797 If you use 3V version, voltage drop at resistor should be 2 Volts at rated current then. What current it is rated for? Did you calculate 0.3 Amp or measured? Cause mine is 0.1 Amp and it is very very bright

    • @swagn3r797
      @swagn3r797 17 днів тому

      @ i just input to chatgpt the .3 that i found on the tech sheet and it said i should use around 7 ohm resistor. Dunno anything about electricity but i thought since it's 5v i can't hurt myself much haha

    • @swagn3r797
      @swagn3r797 17 днів тому +1

      But with the 10ohm it was not bright at all so i went to 3 ohm then it was brighter but i feel like still not as bright as it should be . So ye now I'm a bit lost

    • @NickElectronics
      @NickElectronics  17 днів тому +2

      @ Strange. Cause should work with 7 Ohms if LEDs consume 0.3 Amps at 3 Volts.
      But you can always play with resistance more 😅Connect two 3 Ohm resistors in parallel

      @@NickElectronics would be a good follow up video for you on this as 5v battery lamp bases would be even better format for this lamp than 220v :)
