    • @NickElectronics
      @NickElectronics 7 годин тому

      I just couldn't, because with this lens optics, I would only have a small spot on the wall. To make it work with real optics, I had to use a short focal-length lens that somewhat disperses the light. Then it would have worked, but such lenses are very short in height. So electronics would not fit :(

    If you added LEDs to the back would it potentially double the "resolution" if you coded the lights for different shapes or images?

    • @NickElectronics
      @NickElectronics 7 годин тому

      It depends how to put them. If they will be located at the gaps corresponding to other side - then yes. But it is probably easier to put all LEDs at one side and resistors to other and just solder them more compact. Or remove resistors at all and use some current controllers for LEDs.

    Green PCBs are acceptable. Black PCBs are evil, because you can’t follow the damn traces when you want to reverse engineer them, especially if it’s matte black. Yellow PCBs are where it’s at, the copper colour beneath the solder mask looks golden, and it’s very easy to follow the traces.

    An Oled panel is also essentially a LED array, so theoretically is it possible to create this device with a thin Oled ?

    • @NickElectronics
      @NickElectronics 12 днів тому

      "Yes, it’s possible, of course. However, it's much harder to control because if you want at least 360 pixels of horizontal resolution, you need to refresh it 360 times per rotation. To achieve a 30 Hz refresh rate, that's 30 rotations per second, meaning the data has to be refreshed 360 * 30 times per second-around 10,800 times per second. With the same vertical resolution of 360 pixels and using RGB colors, that's 360 * 3 = 1,080 LEDs that need to be refreshed 10,800 times per second, resulting in a data rate of 11 megabits per second. And that's only for one row of LEDs. So, it’s more of a surface display with an unusual shape rather than a truly volumetric display. If I needed a truly volumetric display with a 360-pixel depth resolution, that would require controlling 360 columns, essentially 11 Mbits/sec * 360, which equals 4 Gbits/sec of data. That’s quite a lot. There may be ways to optimize it, but still, it would be challenging.
