    I heard a lot of really bad things about ATK. I'm glad yours works but would you attribute that to maybe people not following breakin instructions?

    • @doggngarage4975
      @doggngarage4975  4 роки тому +4

      Break-in period is pretty important. The other thing is, we know that there is always some bad workers at every company that are just there for the paycheck and slack off. There is always the possibility of getting a motor that was built by an employee that could care less.

      Same body style my '81 Z28 was. Ended up trading it for an '84 Trans Am that I ended up building a hefty 350 for.

    I got a 95 Tahoe 350 TBI. What's required to go from stock to the ATK 350. Jegs says you need a chip burned.

    • @doggngarage4975
      @doggngarage4975  5 років тому

      I didnt do any chip burning. I had to swap the ECM, but that was because mine originally had a 305. If you originally had a 350, you should be fine to just drop in, time it, and go.

      A little tick out the left exhaust bank, but never really pin pointed the cause. Doesn't seem to effect the performance after these years.

      @@doggngarage4975 what rotation is it?

    • @doggngarage4975

      Reverse rotation

    • @doggngarage4975
      @doggngarage4975  3 роки тому

      Not to be confused with reverse flow. The water pump still sucks coolant up from bottom radiator hose, but the rotation of the actual pulley on the water pump is reverse since it runs off the back of the serpentine belt. So basically it spins the opposite direction of the engine rotation.

    I'm thinking of dropping an ATK 350 into my C3 Corvette to get it going for the time being, but I am afraid to pull the trigger on it due to some of the reviews I have seen of the company. How is yours holding up after 4 years?

    What headers fit on the engine?

    • @doggngarage4975
      @doggngarage4975  4 роки тому +1

      The main thing is to search for gmt400 ('88 - '98) headers. They will more than likely be compatible since a high majority of these trucks were made with small block engines. I ordered stainless steel headers off ebay. I've driven it for almost 2yrs, and they haven't cracked or anything. I did have to cut some of the alternator/power steering bracket and put in a small bolt spacer though since the bracket originally mounted to the stock manifold.

      Dogg'n Garage 👍🏼. I’m doing the same swap this week. I still need to resource the parts I’ll need. Heading to the junk yard first thing in the morning. Which ecm will work, certain part number you prefer or does it matter since it’s out of another 350?
