Hi - 2.5 years later! (but there is a reason for posting here). . OK - going back 2.5 years, I followed your excellent video and killed off NFZs and opened up the height restriction, and ended up with 01.04.0100 working absolutely fine. So - a belated thanks for the assistance. So - I posted here because that is exactly where I got to. . The important thing in 01.04.0100 was that it gave me (the still relatively new at that time) panorama functions ... the only reason I rolled forward to that version at the time - but they've never worked as well as I've seen some others create on their MPs. I'm guessing panoramas were still "in development" by DJI at that time and what I should have done was keep an eye out for the later .0200, .0300, .0400 and .0500 in case they improved things. So I guess I can now just repeat exactly what I did to roll forward to .0100, but with the .0500 bin to update? Or do I need to do the .0200, .0300, .0400 first? . Whilst scribbling, the only reason I became interested in updating at all was because of something that happened. Suddenly I lost all VPS sensing - and hence auto-land (at a sensible speed! LOL!), etc. Luckily, re-flashing the .0100 firmware fixed this and now it's back to normal. Thought I'd just mention this in case this situation hadn't been heard of before. . Thanks again! 👍
To summarise in one word 'Amazing', i'm left speechless with your knowledge. There is one mod, which you have probably been asked for a million times, that is how to get the extra power that FCC settings give over those of CE. I have had a very careful look in the settings but cannot find anything which might do the trick. I think I would be speaking for thousands of flyers stuck with the CE power, that hack would be more useful that the NFZ or height hacks. Any assistance/advice greatly received. Even if you went through this. Watch the video from 16 mins onwards. He gives good advice for all flyer's. Anyways there was a common problem with the newer versions of setting the speed to 50, and resets back to 10.

Once again, another great Video. I have been grateful for your instructions on changing Parameters and restrictions for 6 months, and your knowledge has helped me get incredible speeds, distance and manoeuvrability on my Mavic Pro and Spark. However I recently purchased a Mavic Air and the Parameter listings/names are different to the M Pro and Spark. Do you have a list of equivalent Parameter names and their recommended settings for the M Air? Any help from the guru would be much appreciated.
Well, this is about the best, most complete, well explained video out there on DJI modding. This goes at a more relaxed pace that one or two others, which helps you pick up very important points, that are not things you might figure out on your own, on the fly. I'm talking about what to do when the downloaded firmware doesn't appear for the DUMLdore step (the asterisk in the search box solves it), the need to refresh the new firmware more than once - sometimes way more than once. Amazing! When you get all the little fine points, the tweaks make the Mavic Pro at least, a real joy to fly again. Fast, high, nimble, without having to tweak it each time you fly. I really hope that Digdat0's restaurant is successful. Not sure where it is, but I'd definitely come in for dinner and say hi if I knew it were here in the Bay Area. But hope that he's not so frazzled that he can't keep taking care of us kinda-newbies. Thanks, Steve!
Hi, just followed all these steps for my DJI Spark, works awesome! However, the old Dumldore does not work after 2019 & the new one DOES NOT have the custom firmware option. Do you know of a solution as I would like the features of the latest firmware while retaining the tweaked parameters. cheers!
Some info for those who need to add an internal SD card - My Mavic Pro was built in mid-october, instead of glue in front of the sd card slot they used a very thin and runny type of sealant, it almost looks like thin bathtub caulk. It doesn't peel off as a sheet it comes off in tiny little chunks. I started with a tiny flathead and finished with a sewing needle and take your time, you can do some damage if you're not careful, be sure you're not scraping the board or connections from the chip next to the sd slot. You just have to clean it up enough to lift the latch, then you slide the sd card into the little channels on the latch and lock it back down, you'll feel it snap in. My latch didn't come all the way off it only raised up to about 60 degrees but that was enough to slide the card in those little channels on the edges. I used an 8gb sandisk ultra class10 uhs1 and had formatted it with the mavic beforehand via go4, worked out great. I did a manual rollback defeat after that because dumldore 3.0 was not having any luck in the automated fashion. After a manual rollback defeat I double-flashed the AC to .0700 with dumldore and then the RC to .0400 to remove any messages from it. Note: on .0400 on a previous december 2017 build mavic and I had gimbal issues so I stick to .0700 it does the trick. - Hope this info helped someone!

Hey Tom - i'm a one man band here, but the OG's and the community are all the support we need. Keep contributing, try new things and SHARE information! Thats what this is all about, helping folks in the community and sharing as much as we can. As for precision landing, I think there is a required firmware version to get it to work .. many guys who i talk to who are on on 1.03.0900 (no nfz, but yes to height removal) say that precision landing works on that version. TBH i dont use that feature so i havent tested that out, but thats supposed to work.
10/10 for this video, thanks alot. Question - I followed the video exactly. No my Mavic Pro no longer has the count-down timer on battery time. Therefore it doesn't recognise when it should come home due to distance etc. I almost lost her when it landed in the middle of nowhere. Suggestions, please?

Ok, so I finally got this working... I think. I have 1 question, when the guide says to change to Non-DJI battery because if you hit 1600 it will auto-land, does that mean 1600 feet or 1600 meters? This is important because I do not plan on going above 1600 meters, but I do plan on going above 1600 feet (500 meters). I would rather not change the setting to non-dji battery if I do not need to. Hello. I always look at you with great interest. Using Dji Assitant is there a way to avoid that due to the outside temperature (4-5 °), the Mavic 1 signals me "low battery" and try to land? Even if the warning comes out, ok, just do not land autonomously. Provided that it does not come down anyway. Thank you

Thanks digdat, your tutorial was very useful. I tried a first time with Dji Go 4.1.22 (not Mod.) and it did not take off in NFZ. I repeated the procedure by reinstalling the 1.03.0700 and then the 1.04.0100, with a Djigo App 4.1.22.Mod (No NFZ) and it worked. On the RC it signals me "in NFZ", but I took all the sat., it is "Ready to fly". I would like to know if I can update to 1.04.0300 (I found a Mod without 305 306 and 905) and keeps me the possibility to fly in NFZ or leave the 4.01? ...Thank you!

Hi digdat0 - I love your tutorials and would like to mod my AIR or at least remove the NFZ and if possible turn it into FCC mode. Do you have any hits on how to do this? Also if the RC need to be flashed or modded too? With the AIR there isn't many versions to choose from so which one should I choose to enable changes? When I use the DJI assistance 2 (V.1.1.2) I can't do any parameter changes with the present version in AIR but if I flash it with one from DDD will the parameters show up?
Phantom 4 Pro+, worked perfectly. But had to find and install an older version of Assistant 2, the newer one has a different file structure and these instructions don't work.
Great video just 1 question.....I have successfully downgraded then re-flashed with the latest firmware on Dumbledore on my Mavic pro & my friends Mavic, Everything works just fine apart from the obstacle avoidance doesn't seem to be working on both drone's And when you click on show radar on the screen, nothing comes on. Well done! However I would like to learn more about each parameter effect. I also like the mod I found on my P4P to remove the REV REV when motors start up, handy when it's windy, preventing flips/tips during REV REV.

Awesome instructional video, as always. Question: I have already downgraded and modded,from previous instructional video all works well. I still get "IN NFZ" on rc, also get "DO NOT FLY" in app. Will this new process remove those warnings? They are just annoying.
the 'in nfz' i think is a bug or a byproduct of the modding process .. not sure how to get rid, on mine it shows for 5 seconds then is gone and never comes up again. As for the do not fly in app, if you remove the nfz restriction yeah it should be fine and that goes away.

Thanks steve, I have succeeded. but why sometimes there is a "no fly zone" notification on the remote control? and the aircraft can not fly. but suddenly the notice did not show up again. sometimes I have to turn off and turn on the aircraft several times so the NFZ notifications will not show up again.

I followed it to flash my november 2017 mavic pro and I could change the parameters well! :-) I was on 1.04.0400. Now I imagine my plane is in 1.03.0700 and my remote in 1.04.0400. I'd like to flash the "custom rolled firmware", last one available for mavic is 1.04.0300. So I can flash it on both plane and remote right ? Or I should flash the normal dji one on remote ? How do you flash on remote ? Also, what is the effect of GPS+ mod ? and sport+ mod is it much harder to drive ? Is it safe to put gohome speed at 13.7 ? Can I use it with DJI GO 4 modded red app without issue ? Thanks a lot :-)

Hello, i downgraded with nld software to. 0700 firmware on my mavic. Had some esc problems and solid red indicatorlight. Removed height limit in nld softwarr and also made all the settings in the parameters on dji assistent like you did. Then i removed the module 305 and 306 on my finishing firmware. 300 and installed the 0.300 firmware. Everything works now. Height limit is removed but can i still modd the parameters in the dji assistent?

I have a quick question for you. I have the medic Pro platinum and I have successfully been able to downgrade 01.04.0100. I'm still in the process of downgrading to 01.03.0700. Anyways, earlier while I was doing the process of down grading, I decided to change a battery for the next cycle. Whenever I did, I lost all communication from the mavic to the computer. I called DJI and they told me that I basically had to send the unit in to be repaired, however I figured out that it was because the other battery I was using to do the downgrade had a different firmware that was installed while it was installing the firmware on the mavic. My question to you is, what do I need to do to assure that the other two batteries are going to work properly. Have you had this happen to you before?
amigo espectacular tu video hice paso a paso todo lo que dijiste y pude.una vez termine fui a probar el Dron y Efectivamente quedo mucho mas potente lo subi solo 1100 metros no mas por que me dio miedo..pero lo que no me gusto es que perdí mis sensores de colisión frontales los tengo activados pero ya no funcionan. tambien perdi estabilidad,es decir el dron ya no es tan estable como antes tambien note que se chupa la batería en un momentito ahora solo vuelo 10 minutos como máximo y por ultimo lo mas preocupante es que en 2 ocasiones cuando dejaba de volar y prendia todo de nuevo el control remoto no se enlaza con el dron y para que se enlace me toco conectarme a internet actualizar al mismo 01.04.0100 y ahy si se conecta asi que pues inquietante lo que me sucede..si de pronto me puedes ayudar y me dices que hice mal o si a ti te pasa lo mismo o que debo hacer te lo agradeceria.muchas gracias y sos un duro

I changed SPARK g_config_fw_cfg_max_speed from 10 to 20 when flying telemetry with obstacle avoidance disabled (not enabled) read 13.X, which is essentially the same as factory setting. The video I reviewed afterward seemed faster. Any insight.? Regarding YAW in normal mode (GPS mode?), which matters more yaw_sensitive_gain or g_config_hotpoint_max_yaw_rate or something else? Will changing value g_config_mode_sport_cfg_tors_gyro_range eliminate the annoying FPV default gimbal setting while in Sport mode? please reply thanks
With non DJI battery set, does the cooling fan still operate? The temp probe is in the battery!

Yes, on the spark rollback to .300 then use modded .701 firmware for best results. I don't talk about the RC, cause I always leave it as is. Usually there is zero reason to change the RC version .. it just complicates things, so i avoid it :)

i deleted the nfz file in the latest firmware with a parsing tool because adb was not working for me finding the nfz file i even managed to change the nfz version info name to my company name also firmware version nae in case my drone gets stolen i learn a lot from you guys thanks and yes there is no nfz without adb tools i am going to borrow and test another craft and see if can bake it in without root (P4Pro) here
is there a custom app that you use or do i have to get the official app? im on android . it asks for my number . if i dont enter it i cant fly . do i have to update RC as well?
i leave the rc firmware as is .. i dont see huge changes/benefits from upgrading, or rolling back, so i leave it as is. It just takes more time and adds steps .. you can absolutely rollback RC, but very little else from it.
The application(DankDownloader Tool) does not run,need to be updated and a new version cannot be downloaded Custom Rolled Firmwear 01.04.0100.Please upload the file here
just here to say thanks agin also another issue i can upon was with the software of the mobile dji app firmware 4.1.18 you cannot download it if you have anything newer than ios.
also iphones cannot downgrade since they have online license now. so the best way for this issue is either buy a cheap andriod for 20 - 30 buck off craiglist offer etc. and then you literally just use google to search dji 4.1.18 apk and download directly to device you might encounter error if you dont allow third party apps download. allow in setting and you good to go i thought it wasnt gonna work but missed the step for the controller
For some reason even though I have the custom firmware on my pc, dumldore cant find it every time I click the folder its in. Any ideas? Also, i set everything up in assistant as u did, and it's awesome, but u can sometimes get overcurrent issues in horizontal flight within god. What's some good values to be borderline overcurrent? Don't wanna prematurely burn the mavic up lol.

I am running DJI Assistant 2 1.1.2.573 on my Mavic Pro. The aircraft and RC firmware are both version 01.03.0400. However, I am unable to locate "g_config_flying_limit_height_limit_enabled" when changing the flight parameters. I would really like to remove the altitude restrictions of my Mavic. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated.
I got the older 1.1.2 DJI assistant 2 Currently June 2018 my controller and mavic Pro both have the new firmware.... Why can't I just use the older version 1.1.2. And leave all the firmware the same? I really want to do the super sport mode mod

i did check out the video starting from 19:40 and tried to apply the custom rolled patch 4.100 but dumbledore is not recognizing the *.bin file (its not showing up on the dumbledore explore window). cant figure out whats going on.
I have a mavic pro platinum on 04.0500 I was able to get it down to 04.0000 but I can't go any lower. In order to get to .0000 I had to do each from .0300 then .0100. I still can't get it down to 03.0700 I'm stuck at 04.000? Any suggestions?
I just rolled back from 01.04.0300 to 01.03.0700 and wondering if I need to roll the RC back also? What about the Go App? Also, I have DJI googles, do they need attention also?

Note: on .0400 on a previous december 2017 build mavic and I had gimbal issues so I stick to .0700 it does the trick. - Hope this info helped someone!

Thats what this is all about, helping folks in the community and sharing as much as we can. As for precision landing, I think there is a required firmware version to get it to work .. many guys who i talk to who are on on 1.03.0900 (no nfz, but yes to height removal) say that precision landing works on that version. TBH i dont use that feature so i havent tested that out, but thats supposed to work.
10/10 for this video, thanks alot. Question - I followed the video exactly. No my Mavic Pro no longer has the count-down timer on battery time. Therefore it doesn't recognise when it should come home due to distance etc. I almost lost her when it landed in the middle of nowhere. Suggestions, please?
Thanks so much for this. I was really bummed when they changed the GEO maps and I was in a NFZ. I just like to fly in my yard around my pond at low altitude...Now I can. I had some ups and downs following this with some bumps along the way but I kept at it and got it all done

Ok, so I finally got this working... I think. I have 1 question, when the guide says to change to Non-DJI battery because if you hit 1600 it will auto-land, does that mean 1600 feet or 1600 meters? This is important because I do not plan on going above 1600 meters, but I do plan on going above 1600 feet (500 meters). I would rather not change the setting to non-dji battery if I do not need to. Hello. I always look at you with great interest. Using Dji Assitant is there a way to avoid that due to the outside temperature (4-5 °), the Mavic 1 signals me "low battery" and try to land? Even if the warning comes out, ok, just do not land autonomously. Provided that it does not come down anyway. Thank you

What about the RC? If you downgrade to the firmware version in your video, doesn't the RC firmware need to be downgraded too?

I tried a first time with Dji Go 4.1.22 (not Mod.) and it did not take off in NFZ.
I repeated the procedure by reinstalling the 1.03.0700 and then the 1.04.0100, with a Djigo App 4.1.22.Mod (No NFZ) and it worked. On the RC it signals me "in NFZ", but I took all the sat., it is "Ready to fly".
I would like to know if I can update to 1.04.0300 (I found a Mod without 305 306 and 905) and keeps me the possibility to fly in NFZ or leave the 4.01? ...Thank you!

Hi digdat0 - I love your tutorials and would like to mod my AIR or at least remove the NFZ and if possible turn it into FCC mode.
Do you have any hits on how to do this? Also if the RC need to be flashed or modded too? With the AIR there isn't many versions to choose from so which one should I choose to enable changes?
When I use the DJI assistance 2 (V.1.1.2) I can't do any parameter changes with the present version in AIR but if I flash it with one from DDD will the parameters show up?

Phantom 4 Pro+, worked perfectly. But had to find and install an older version of Assistant 2, the newer one has a different file structure and these instructions don't work.

Everything works just fine apart from the obstacle avoidance doesn't seem to be working on both drone's

Well done! However I would like to learn more about each parameter effect. I also like the mod I found on my P4P to remove the REV REV when motors start up, handy when it's windy, preventing flips/tips during REV REV.

Question: I have already downgraded and modded,from previous instructional video all works well. I still get "IN NFZ" on rc, also get "DO NOT FLY" in app.
Will this new process remove those warnings? They are just annoying.
the 'in nfz' i think is a bug or a byproduct of the modding process .. not sure how to get rid, on mine it shows for 5 seconds then is gone and never comes up again. As for the do not fly in app, if you remove the nfz restriction yeah it should be fine and that goes away.

already added a com/question on your former video, but now, as I followed your steps, the ancient version of Assistant2 does not recognize my devices when plugged... Funny, isn't it? I had to reinstall the latest Assistant to use them. Will this rollback still be accessible?
Thanks steve, I have succeeded. but why sometimes there is a "no fly zone" notification on the remote control? and the aircraft can not fly. but suddenly the notice did not show up again. sometimes I have to turn off and turn on the aircraft several times so the NFZ notifications will not show up again.
thats usually because your below 6 bars on gps, its kinda normal post modding, just wait for gps signal and it goes away.

I followed it to flash my november 2017 mavic pro and I could change the parameters well! :-) I was on 1.04.0400. Now I imagine my plane is in 1.03.0700 and my remote in 1.04.0400. I'd like to flash the "custom rolled firmware", last one available for mavic is 1.04.0300. So I can flash it on both plane and remote right ? Or I should flash the normal dji one on remote ? How do you flash on remote ? Also, what is the effect of GPS+ mod ? and sport+ mod is it much harder to drive ? Is it safe to put gohome speed at 13.7 ? Can I use it with DJI GO 4 modded red app without issue ? Thanks a lot :-)

Hello, i downgraded with nld software to. 0700 firmware on my mavic. Had some esc problems and solid red indicatorlight. Removed height limit in nld softwarr and also made all the settings in the parameters on dji assistent like you did.
Then i removed the module 305 and 306 on my finishing firmware. 300 and installed the 0.300 firmware. Everything works now. Height limit is removed but can i still modd the parameters in the dji assistent?

I have a quick question for you. I have the medic Pro platinum and I have successfully been able to downgrade 01.04.0100. I'm still in the process of downgrading to 01.03.0700. Anyways, earlier while I was doing the process of down grading, I decided to change a battery for the next cycle. Whenever I did, I lost all communication from the mavic to the computer. I called DJI and they told me that I basically had to send the unit in to be repaired, however I figured out that it was because the other battery I was using to do the downgrade had a different firmware that was installed while it was installing the firmware on the mavic. My question to you is, what do I need to do to assure that the other two batteries are going to work properly. Have you had this happen to you before?
amigo espectacular tu video hice paso a paso todo lo que dijiste y pude.una vez termine fui a probar el Dron y Efectivamente quedo mucho mas potente lo subi solo 1100 metros no mas por que me dio miedo..pero lo que no me gusto es que perdí mis sensores de colisión frontales los tengo activados pero ya no funcionan. tambien perdi estabilidad,es decir el dron ya no es tan estable como antes tambien note que se chupa la batería en un momentito ahora solo vuelo 10 minutos como máximo y por ultimo lo mas preocupante es que en 2 ocasiones cuando dejaba de volar y prendia todo de nuevo el control remoto no se enlaza con el dron y para que se enlace me toco conectarme a internet actualizar al mismo 01.04.0100 y ahy si se conecta asi que pues inquietante lo que me sucede..si de pronto me puedes ayudar y me dices que hice mal o si a ti te pasa lo mismo o que debo hacer te lo agradeceria.muchas gracias y sos un duro

I changed SPARK g_config_fw_cfg_max_speed from 10 to 20 when flying telemetry with obstacle avoidance disabled (not enabled) read 13.X, which is essentially the same as factory setting. The video I reviewed afterward seemed faster. Any insight.?

Yes, on the spark rollback to .300 then use modded .701 firmware for best results. I don't talk about the RC, cause I always leave it as is. Usually there is zero reason to change the RC version .. it just complicates things, so i avoid it :)

Hi Steve, i am trying to mod a phantom 4 pro, but on the version I download for the indicated page on the video, my Dji assitant 2 downloaded, there is no such line: "g:config:flying_limit_height_limit_enabled, so no option to change to "2" same happen with my mavic Pro? i deleted the nfz file in the latest firmware with a parsing tool because adb was not working for me finding the nfz file
i even managed to change the nfz version info name to my company name also firmware version nae in case my drone gets stolen
i learn a lot from you guys thanks
and yes there is no nfz without adb tools

on android i use a modded 4.1.22 app. on ios i use standard.you dont need modded app, standard is fine. no need to update RC

Great tutorial. Strange it that RC is hardly mentioned. Is the RC firmware so irrelevant?
i leave the rc firmware as is .. i dont see huge changes/benefits from upgrading, or rolling back, so i leave it as is. It just takes more time and adds steps .. you can absolutely rollback RC, but very little else from it.
The application(DankDownloader Tool) does not run,need to be updated and a new version cannot be downloaded Custom Rolled Firmwear 01.04.0100.Please upload the file here
just here to say thanks agin also another issue i can upon was with the software of the mobile dji app firmware 4.1.18 you cannot download it if you have anything newer than ios.
also iphones cannot downgrade since they have online license now. so the best way for this issue is either buy a cheap andriod for 20 - 30 buck off craiglist offer etc.
and then you literally just use google to search dji 4.1.18 apk and download directly to device you might encounter error if you dont allow third party apps download. allow in setting and you good to go i thought it wasnt gonna work but missed the step for the controller
For some reason even though I have the custom firmware on my pc, dumldore cant find it every time I click the folder its in. Any ideas? Also, i set everything up in assistant as u did, and it's awesome, but u can sometimes get overcurrent issues in horizontal flight within god. What's some good values to be borderline overcurrent? Don't wanna prematurely burn the mavic up lol.

I am running DJI Assistant 2 1.1.2.573 on my Mavic Pro. The aircraft and RC firmware are both version 01.03.0400. However, I am unable to locate "g_config_flying_limit_height_limit_enabled" when changing the flight parameters. I would really like to remove the altitude restrictions of my Mavic. Any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated.

i did check out the video starting from 19:40 and tried to apply the custom rolled patch 4.100 but dumbledore is not recognizing the *.bin file (its not showing up on the dumbledore explore window). cant figure out whats going on.

I have a mavic pro platinum on 04.0500 I was able to get it down to 04.0000 but I can't go any lower. In order to get to .0000 I had to do each from .0300 then .0100. I still can't get it down to 03.0700 I'm stuck at 04.000? Any suggestions?
