- Katsuaki Asai Shihan was dispatched to Germany by the Aikikai Hombu Dojo at the tender age of 23. In 1967 he established the Aikikai of Germany and has since devoted himself to spreading aikido in his adopted country. Here Asai Shihan gives us a glimpse of his efforts over the past 26 years which led to the birth and development of the Aikikai of Germany.

One of the greatest Shihan of Aikido in the history.
43 years ago I had Katsuaki Asai as an Aikido teacher in a dojo in Cologne, Germany. Fantastic experience impossible to ever forget.
I really enjoy the way asai shihan incorporates the jo to show the structure of the technique.
Good demonstration: complete review of basic techniques; done slow and fast; and with good-heartedness and laughter. Got to love Aikido!
What I like in this video is the gradation of the techniques : first with the jo, then slowly, then at full speed
My one of the most favourite aikido Sensei! His movement is amazing and really extraordinary!
Great teacher and showman!
Thanks a lot.
Ihn als Sensei zu haben ist schon cool....
beautiful contrasts! lovely aikido =)
Very impressive... thanks for sharing... deep knowledge of movement and flow... great shihan!!!!!
Great.
Very nice.
pretty cool
By about 45 years of Aikido training ;-)
rather stylised.Acrobatic ukes. Does improve a bit after 5 minutes. The Jo dori raised a laugh.
especially @847
haha am ende fliegt einer voll von alleine hin :D
ansonsten cool!
@sponpulica learning Breakfalls is of much use XD
😭
why all the over acting just do it normal
rofl @ 8:46
The ukes overdo it, not a good demonstration. Martial arts are serious business, not comedy. If someone wants to see comedy, watch UFC, WWF etc.
@813 fake .there is no way he is throwing them!!!!!!!!!
beautiful dancing it is not Aikido
