Hi Rod, thanks stopping by. It was very nice meeting you guys out there. Such a great spot, eh. Yeah we were just about to ask around for a jump start when I remembered that I had my portable solar blanket with me. Good to know that this can be used to recharge a flat battery just enough to start the ute.
I lived in the area for a number of years. My family had a farm in the area and farmed and fished there from the 1800s. On a nice days the views cannot be beaten.
what a fantastic spot to have a farm there. The fishing in the 1800s must have been so good. Imagine they would have had the same fishing gear we have today back then.
Nice video again, thanks Mark. I enjoy the longer videos where I can sit with my glass of wine and enjoy. Nice balance of drone photography - not too much, not too little. Great part of the country for filming. Absolutely amazing effort to get that fish on-board and nice to see the sharing of the catch - nothing wasted once the decision was made to keep the fish. Looking forward to the next one.
Great video, beautiful views, good content 👌 Ford ranger is very disappointing to see so many people having issues with towing and weird noises. we bought a Ssangyong Rexton absolutely brilliant for towing with no issues with anything last 2 yrs Thanks for sharing your amazing adventures 😀
cheers mate, appreciate the nice comment. Luckily the suspected engine noise turned out to be only a loose heat shield and the battery was already 5 years old and dying. Should have replaced it before the trip but was too busy, haha. The Ssangyong is a Korean car, eh? They produce pretty good quality stuff.
Nice vid guys great kingy mark on your we boat ,it's a great place to go , Elaine bay is great fishing and camping as well , cheers , shaneo, Nelson, 🍺👍
Cheers mate, yeah I was planning to go to Elaine Bay on the way back but we were running low on drinking water and fuel so headed straight to Okiwi Bay. But we camped at Elaine Bay before and love that spot as well. Luckily there's always a next time :)
Incredible stuff Mark!! Especially 30:39 landing that massive kingi solo!!! The scenery shots on the way in were awesome too looks like 1 hell of a drive mission to get out there
Fantastic effort with the Kingfish its not easy to do that on your own and film it !. Good information on the road conditions we have only been as far as Okiwi bay . French Pass and Elaine Bay are both on our list. Thanks for the video . Its the Mollymawks ( Bullers Albatross) that try and steal your Blue Cod where we fish.
cheers Peter, yeah that is the best trolling lure I have used so far and next time I'll definitely take a slingshot to scare away the shags, haha. It's almost impossible to release fish otherwise.
Hi great video !I have successfully got the shags away by catching a barracuda and cutting it up and feeding the shags till there all full ,cheers and thanks enjoying your videos as I live in top the south
thanks Brett, yeah still very happy with it after a year and a half of heavy use. Had to patch up a few pin holes but it's easy to do and you'd have to do that with any inflatable that you use for fishing :) I still think it's probably the best value for money that you can get.
Couple things that might be helpful mate always cut away from your self when you are cutting a fish trust me I had ten years processing fish, and use wire traces then crappie couta can't steal your costly tackle 😊
haha yeah some good tips. I cut myself way too often, never seem to learn, haha. The only thing with wire traces is that they're a little bit stiff and affect the lure action in a negative way. But better than loosing all the lures. Have you tried kevlar instead of wire yet?
Yeah even used electric fence wire it works really well, do a lot of surf casting back home on the westcoast and it's pretty rugged conditions ,liked your video on drone just in the process of getting one to give it a crack.
Jesus Christ aye....😂😂😂. Would love to do thecsounds on my Stealth kayak....but as you pointed out staying safe and out of the areas with raging currents is the number one priority...needs local knowledge
haha yeah :) Generally the sounds are pretty safe for kayaking. It's only the outer sounds, french pass and some areas around D'urville island where things get a bit sketchy.
cheers mate, thanks for the tip. Yeah I watched the Glowbite video on it. But the lure will still slide off when you cast it a few times. If you just drop it over the side of the boat then it will stay in place. But it's the same with any softbait/wormhook combination. It's possible to use a small piece of paperclip around the hook eye and make a little barb to fix the flounder in place. That usually works great for me and then it won't come off even when casting.
How cool, our carvan made it into your video! Was good meeting you at French Pass.
Also we would have given you a jump start from our ute.

cheers Dave, yeah man a hell of a drive. Definitely easier without towing 3 tons around. But the kingie and the beautiful spot were worth it for sure.
Nice fish
cheers

thanks mate, yeah always end up on my own when I catch a kingie and nobody around to film, haha
That current is mad
yeah it's a ripper :)
Great Video 🤙💯
Glad you enjoyed
that current was ripping out! those shags r real pests making it hard to release small fish. great to see the trolling lure giving u a good size king.
cheers Peter, yeah that is the best trolling lure I have used so far and next time I'll definitely take a slingshot to scare away the shags, haha. It's almost impossible to release fish otherwise.
@@Fishingreminder think an airhorn is just as good to scare them off
@@BasicFishingNZ haha, good idea
Hi great video !I have successfully got the shags away by catching a barracuda and cutting it up and feeding the shags till there all full ,cheers and thanks enjoying your videos as I live in top the south
cheers Peter, that's a good way to get rid of them, haha. It seems that once they had their feed they need a little while to digest it.
Love the videos guys. Are you still happy with the aqua marina? I am thinking of buying one.
thanks Brett, yeah still very happy with it after a year and a half of heavy use. Had to patch up a few pin holes but it's easy to do and you'd have to do that with any inflatable that you use for fishing :) I still think it's probably the best value for money that you can get.
Great place my wife is from there
awesome place to grow up

@@muza1404 nice mate, a drone makes a big difference for land-based. You mean the Ruko or the new Aeroo Pro Drone?
Was this filmed in winter ?
That was in late April
Ah was wondering as thought they'd all headed off by now- nice catch!!

Boreing I thought you were king fishing
yeah, nah I don't do king fishing I fish for kings instead :)
check out glow bites how to rig the flounder soft bait.good vid enjoyed it
