A lot of travelers we met in Wairarapa said “this is the first time to come all the way to Wairarapa😂 It’s definitely not the tourist route but it’s stunning and people are so friendly down there!! ❤❤
hey, are you still using the bait cannon? tempted to get the handheld one. What are your thoughts on it now that you have used it a few times and what is the rough distance you're getting when using it?
Hey mate, the handheld bait cannon is definitely a lot of fun to use. I get about 200 meters on a cast. To be honest, I do use my drone more than the bait cannon. Simply because of having finer control over dropping the bait where I want it and being able to use any bait, hook sizes and breakaway sinkers. But compared to the drone the bait cannon wins in terms of fun and it's definitely a show stopper. And you can use it in areas where drones are not permitted.
@@Fishingreminder I have caught them in Auckland but pretty rare, Blue cod aren't unknown in the gulf too. I used to get a few down Wellington way and they are actually reasonable eating, a little soft and bland perhaps but some people like that and even prefer it. Like a lot of "trash" fish its because they don't survive the catch to supermarket process well but fresh caught crumbed fried fillets are far better than supermarket Hoki.

Awesome use of the Paua
Cheers mate, it was yummy. We don't eat a lot of Paua. It's always a special treat for us.
Any good idea to make the Paua meat more tender? 😉

Beautifully made video mate. It's one part of NZ that I've not explored, but I feel inspired to get there and do some camping and fishing.
Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed the vid and got inspired 👍 That's what it's all about :)

@@Fishingreminder awesome thanks for the response i'll have to re-watch your baitcannon episode :)
Red cod I use for raw fish, because of soft meat and cheap price
interesting, just straight sashimi or do soak it in lemon juice?
nice red cod. i personally think its pretty bad tasting 🤣
I have never tried one, supposedly soft and mushy meat. Did you catch any up in Auckland?
Must try to cook them oneday to see how it is like🤣
@@Fishingreminder never caught one although there were random reports of red cods being caught mostly in the manukau harbour
I come from the cape palliser region. Scenes from lord of the rings were filmed at the pinnacles and further around by the lighthouse
