A dreamful version of this beautiful song and a lush and rich sound with enough projection on all mouthpieces a player how you sounds nice on a watering can too
Liked the Great Neck and the Greg Wier the most. Great warm sound. The Phil-Tone surprisingly the least. Some kind of harsh sound in the attack (beginning of your sound). Maybe a baffle thing.... But all taste of course.
Thank you very much for taking time to listen. The GN sounds how a vintage Brilhart should sound. Warm and velvety to my ears. The Greg Wier was a real surprise. It definitly has the smooth warmth of a good tonalin but also has plenty of projection if needed. It can even play loud without sacrifising the sweet tone or getting harsh. Greg Wier has done a great job here. I agree with your opinion on the Orion in this comparison. But in this case it may also have to do with the right reed choice and of course myself as a player. The Regal Queen 2.5 reed is in fact a bright and edgy sounding reed that works well for projecting. After all I actually should have made a different choice here. I think the Phil-Tone is really a very nice playing mouthpiece. Maybe I should make some other recordings of it to get a better impression. But then again you are right, as with most things it is all a matter of taste.
Thanks! That is a noteworthy observation as the second Brilhart (Carlsbad) is the first Brilhart I got and tried decades ago. it has always been one of my favorits and the reference mouthpiece with which I like to compare others to. The other one I like a lot is the Streamline 7*. I'm not sure if the recording really does justice to the tone but it's the thickest and sweetest tone of all. That said, the Orion comes very close and is more flexible and plays easier. Another notable feature of the second one (Carlsbad) is that it has the best projection of all. Why that is is still a mystery to me as the inner designs seem pretty similar.
Hi Giorgio. Mouthpiece maker Greg Wier sells them on Ebay (gwindplayer). It is modelled after a Brilhart Tonalin. I think it has the same thick and warm core of the original but with more flexibility. Also much character or richness in the sound. It is quite projecting too however it is not a blues screamer. More of an elegant and sweet jazz tone. I like it a lot.
Classic, tasty, dreamy ! I like them all. Well played. I’m envious.
Thank you for listening and your nice comment.
Great to hear you playing.
Thank you! And thanks for taking the time to listen.

Seu som está na minha playlist pra quanto eu desejo relaxar fumar um pipe e tomar um drink, obrigado por compartilhar seu timbre abençoado
you sounds good on all mouthpieces, but i love Ebolin 3 and Tonalin Streamline (Getz :) )
Thank you! Yes, I wholly agree! The Tonalin Streamline has that instant thick and warm bebop tone and can come close to Getz. Wish I could.
All sound beautiful. I particularly like the second one Brilhart ebolin 3 and the Phil tone. Which one felt best?

Greg Wier. Love it! Is it a good mouthpiece? Never heard about.
