Héroes by Jonathan Suazo's Ricano live at SRBCC

Remastered video of the September 2023 debut of Jonathan Suazo's Ricano at Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center. This presentation was part of a week-long residency that incorporated master classes with our youth, as well as opportunities for Chicago-based artists to play alongside the original band comprised of members from Boston and Puerto Rico. Jonathan Suazo's "Ricano" was recognized as "Top 10 Jazz Albums of 2023" by the New York Times. Opening act by SRBCC's La Cantera. Musicians: Jonathan Suazo (bandleader, sax), Fabiola Méndez (cuatro), Tanisha López (vocals), Miguel Martínez (percussion), Víctor "Junito" González (percussion), Quincy Raggs (percussion), Juan Maldonado (bass), Jose Soto (piano), and Ivanna Cuesta (drums). Produced by Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center with partial support from Field Foundation of Illinois, MacArthur Foundation, IDHS, DCEO, Illinois Arts Council, and City Arts.
