What about covering those wheel arches to avoid rocks lifting up and hitting the cars?
Yes
Hopefully there will be a future video called “putting air suspension on our trailer”
I own a trailer with a hydraulic system. It goes stupid low to the ground. Maybe they’ll use that instead
BEAUTIFUL, its something else to have the trailer that the car is being transported in to be just as badass
Waiting for the "We SLAMMED our trailer with air suspension!"
Its 100% the best way to do it. I've built several car trailers of different design for loading low cars. I tried tilt and one where the axles slide forward and one like this with no suspension. On a small truck with hydraulics we even made a hook/slide that lay the bed on the ground and you could drive on with just 50mm clearance.
But there's always issues. Like scraping and not being able to open doors. With roll cage and full containment seat, not being able to open the door is a huge hassle.
Remote airbag is well worth the cost. Squat the trailer, drive on, raise it to max height, get out, drop it to ride height. If you get hung up you just raise it up. Etc.
🤯🔥
I use one for work. They come in handy
I thought it was just me lol
I did it to mines💯 best idea I ever had
Need to add dot reflective tape to the side of the trailer and rear of it FYI
And plates in the wheel well so rocks don’t kick up from the trailer
we need more of the Ricky show! he’s foreal the HGTV of cars and trailers 💪🏾😂
How about a Second battery box on other side to hold all the straps
i was gonna comment that
but someone might steal straps if it’s out in the open… like if he stops at a store to pick up snacks for a roadtrip to a track…
@@quinn_ryan69 Maybe a small lock box.
Only thing I would've done differently is paint over the rust with an epoxy based rust encapsulator before applying the bed liner. Otherwise, nice change of pace "build"!
If he wanted it to become a 10k trailer, should’ve just put down new plywood🤣🤣
Me as a german guy with TÜV and all the stuff you have to go through before you can get anything on the street: 👁👄👁
Hab 1:1 genau das gleiche gedacht... kannste dir nicht ausdenken, verienigte Hüttenwerke e.V. lässt grüßen
most of eu has that problem, sadly I live in the eu aswell and have that problem as well :(, cant mod anything without paying extra
That will be the USA soon sadly
@@tkrteejay5558 I mean I get it, its for the safety of the road but like, Ive been living in Spain for years and the system here is so broken is laughable, if you know someone that works for tuv,itv (depends on country but its the same shit) you can get any mod passed without a problem. If you don't know anyone you just pay a lot more and you get papers with the mod. Basically its modding cars with extra steps or paying double the price..
In the US at least in the state I'm in you can build a trailer from scratch and have it titled easily you just have to have some proof that you actually built it like pictures of the build or materials receipts so they know it's not stolen.
I love odd and end projects like this, great work Ricky!
The J hooks should be in line with the straps instead of off on an angle. That way the ratchet straps will last longer.
Man, I would watch Rickie build a cake. So glad he's in more videos
I have been on the fence on getting a trailer for the same amount and now after seeing this video I’m definitely going to go this route! Thanks again for the info and always bringing great content!
Truly refreshing to see something new/different. Good vid guys
throtl srsly is such a good channel, mickey and rickie are a please to watch and so knowledgeable thanks for the content guys
Nice work...next time how about adding a wind screen and tire storage
This should be titled ' How to spend 5000 and turn a $500 trailer into a $600 trailer...
😂😂😂 damn
🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅
Went from a 1500# GVWR to 1400# after adding all that weight. But didn’t add to the structure.
You could do better 24 revealer
@@tedmann498 Have a go.
Love the Volvo 240 in the back
Loving the bloopers at the end! Definitely on the fan boat of waiting to see how long it take for it to be SLAMMED on a air ride suspension!!!
New merch is dope asf. I literally aspire to be y’all.
Awesome change of pace, guys. Sick trailer, man.
You guys make every project cool!
Love it. Tell Quinn that vertical welds always kicked my butt too. Only way to get better at welding is putting spark to steel.
THIS IS 'THE RICKIE SHOW' 🎉🎉
Love the video! Just here to mention that not only do you run the chance of rocks kicking up from the tires like others have said, but if y’all have a blow out it’s going to tear the living hell out of the door or fender of whatever is loaded. You guys put so much time love and effort into your builds. I’d hate to see something minor cause massive amounts of damage like that. Otherwise, keep up the killer work 🤙🏼🤙🏼
I enjoyed this video. You gave me some great ideas for budget trailer. And the that winch kit is great.
These type of trailers are so sick & make it be able to sit on the ground 🔥
This is a bad ass upgrade…good job 👍👌
Put a cover over the winch to keep it from getting wet when it rains! With velcro so you can get access easily when you're going to use it! Also, an area somewhere close to the winch to keep a tarp (folded) to cover your cars to prevent sun/rain/snow(?) away!!! That's my contribution Ricky!
Ricky is the best! We need more of him on the show!
He is full time now
Nice job... that will come in very handy !
Great transformation. One thing I'd do is switch to a 6 prong trailer connector, they have a supplied voltage to top off that battery
Trailers probably the best build I've ever seen you guys do no joke. Lights and wheels suspension upgrade air bags. 🤔🤔
I love the sound track you used why loading the M Class. Nice good on the trailer 👌.
Nice trailer refurb fellas, I would definitely weld on a front bar on the deck for wheel stops though.
Looks brand new nice heck yeah!
The Ricky show is my favorite part of this channel !!!!!!
🙏
Nice project! Maybe add removable fenders on the trailer in case you need more clearance for the vehicle door.
Throtl vip squad good afternoon Rickie Mickey Quinn Evan Rick victor Shawn Big Jeff and the rest of the team awesome Rickie giving a little T.L.C to your trailer 👍🏽🤙🏽😊
Having seen what Trailer tires can do when they blow, I would suggest you put some steel between the cars and the wheel well instead of leaving it open. Nice refresh overall!
Looks great!!
The winch is gonna be amazing!!
Very nice transformation Bro!
Very nice job definitely a great transformation from before 👍
That Trailer looks really nice
Bingo!! I've ALWAYS used a sawz-all to cut trailers and thick steel.
Would it be worth fitting a lock box for the straps and stuff as well as some form of antitheft for the winch?
Wasn’t expecting such a sick welding edit 🔥
fantastic job looks like a new trailer now
Cool build! like the content. Was hoping fore a part 2. wouldn't change a thing on what you've done; things i was looking for: how you were going to address the wheel and tire package and the inner fender opening. and maybe a light package for night travels. possible a lights that show off the cars that you are hauling. (Just next level suggestions). but definitely a transformation for sure...
Great job
Damn that's a nice renovation
Nice work Rickie
Awesome job on the trailer!!!!
Great work thks for the video
That's a dope trailer setup. I think you should add a solar panel to maintain the battery when you aren't using the trailer. And maybe grip tape down on that diamond plate because when it gets wet I can assume it will be fairly slick. Maybe with that tubular steel you had add some bracing under the winch plate, add more Drings just for more securement options.. And lastly finished off the area on the trailer upfront under the winch with diamond plate.
Diamond plate folds in on the first load
matching wheel's as many have mentioned, a battery tender, a cool add on would be a tire rack so you can carry an extra set of wheels and a trailer spare. also a rack to carry extra fuel cans
FYI when you are welding with solid core mig wire you want to weld downhill so you wont get the dripping metal. cool build
That trailer is sick! I would put a sheet of metal on the inside of the fenders to protect the car in case of a blowout. I would also put a tool box on it for the straps.
Ahh.. yeah this makes sense... everyone else keeps saying this because of rocks potentially hitting the car but I have never had that happen... but a blow out would definitely make damages .... thanks for the tip.
@@RunningSolo thanks for being rad 🤘🏼
Looks good
Trailer looks awesome!!!! What thickness and material did you use for your Diamond plate deck?
Good video showing something a little different
This 'Duo' always awesome..
The only thing I would've done would be matching the 4x wheels on the trailer. other than that, it was a great video and great re-build!😉🤜🏻🤛🏻
Very nice job. Wouldn't know it was the same trailer. The only thing that I do different with my trailer hookup is ---- I run a heavy welding cable back from the truck battery positive to a plug disconnect at the rear bumper to power the winch. Then run a separate ground cable from the trailer to the truck. No need to use a separate battery . Never ran the truck battery down .
This video had DIY-Dad UA-cam channel vibes and I’m here for it.
Something different content, goodjob guys💪🏻
Sexy looking trailer! I did the same thing to my first trailer and wish I had gone with the aluminum diamond plate instead of steel. Also wish I had used bed liner instead of paint. The only thing I would add to your trailer would be inside fender skirts. They help keep any road grime off the car especially when you are towing in the rain.
What about trailer lights?? It would be cool to see what kinda trailer lights you plan to installed on your new trailer and the process of installing it.
That came out really good....
I usually add strut channel inset along the track of where the car tires will run to give more anchor points.
You can also hook it into your tail lights through the battery. That way everytime you hook up the light's, you charge up the battery...
Looks awesome 👍👍👍
The four wheels should all match man! Love this type of vids keep them coming.
That's cool as hell!
Good Stuff Boyz
Skills Rickey!!!
I would make the fenders included on the inner side to prevent damage to the car from stuff flying to it from the wheels...
Epic work.
Nice job
look into a set of cluster straps they are made for flatbeds they have a cluster on one end that has the proper tie down hooks for all makes and models
I can't believe I'm barley finding this channel today. I'm from San Diego and have been in the car scene here since 2001. Glad I found it though 👍👍
I would have mounted the winch back a foot or more but yeah a winch and tie down points are a huge improvement .
Need a dope set of wheels for the trailer now 🤧😤
Damn, that thing is NICE
That wood is like gold
love this trailer I need to get one soon 😀
Ricky moments are the best
Nice job cleaning it up. Like others have said, add some inside skirts to your fenders… also, I never saw anything holding the battery secure other than the plastic box being bolted down. I’d recommend a more sturdy solution to holding the battery in place. Wouldn’t take much more than some of your 1” tube and some all thread. Anyway, nice work on the trailer update.
You can charge that battery off your 7 pin trailer connector also. Its a slow charge but at least everytime you are towing you will be charging also
This is dope
oooouuuu The Ricky Show i like. Every Tuesday please
Cool stuff
I really enjoyed it too watching it I hope I can see more content like that
Cool build, nice 1 fam.
This is like an actual TV show - quality and editing is great. Love it!
The trailer looks good. I would've put the winch hiding inside of a truck toolbox like I did. I also hid the battery next to the winch. The only wat you can tell its there is the roller fairlead mounted on the outside of the toolbox along with the winch hook,
Add industry rollers on the back of the trailer so it won't scrape all the time
Throtle “making trailers great again”
