I just bought a SKR Mini E3, V3.0. Proceeded to crash the extruder into the bed first power on, my fault as I disconnected the z-stop. This set up process was tremendous! Thanks so much for walking thru the programming. I'm a newbie to coding. Glad there is replay and a pause button... Links were super helpful.
Hi. Im glad you were able to get it working :).
Bought the board together with the TFT35 screen to upgrade my Anet AM8 and was struggling a little bit. After watching this video everything was super clear thanks to your small tips and 'common mistake' interludes (these helped a lot). I will do the firmware update as soon as possible! thanks a lot!
Glad it helped!
I try following your instructions, but the z autohome keep pushing down the bed😢
I had to do this swap on my Cr10. All I know is 3D design and slicer. Nothing about firmware coding. I have never felt so lost as here. There is a room with dog's turds everywhere. I was blindfolded. You took my hand a lead me across the room. My shoes are clean! Thank you!
Glad i could help :)
Thanks so much for this video. I happened to be doing this exact upgrade (SKR Mini and CR Touch) and it helped clear up a lot of things since I've never even installed Marlin before. Keep the great videos coming!
You're Welcome
Am going to try this board in my delta when it arrives - thanks for posting..
You're Welcome, let me know how it goes.
@@3DPrintscape - the board has just got here, just need a bit of free time to get it fitted and will let you know how I get on - thanks again!
Bless you for doing this tutorial. I watched numerous vidoes (bad ones) and reviewed lots of redit pages.... You were the only one that I came across that had such a comprehensive editing of the Marlin firmware for the BTT SKR mini e3 v3.
Glad it was helpful!
I have been struggling to even understand this whole concept for months let alone make it work and you achieved both for me in 20 minutes. Thank you - truly, I had almost just completely thrown the towel in
Glad it helped! :)
I put the V3 board in this morning, yesterday direct drive and 2d z drive. I could not get my board to work all day. Found your site and downloaded, installed, working like it should. Thank you.....
Glad I could help :)
Your video was a huge help in getting my CR-10 mini up and running with the SKR E3 V3 and CL Touch. I owe you a pint.
Hi. Im glad i could help :).
Thanks so much for this video! Just upgraded to the SKR board and couldn't figure out how to get my CR Touch to work. This video got it working perfectly.
You're welcome!
Oh my god thank you for this! Everything worked fine after doing this, and you explained everything very clearly, so again, thank you so much! I can finally use my CRtouch!
You're welcome!
Been waiting on this for a while, thank you!
You bet!
I owe you a drink sir. I was able to fix my firmware issues and troubleshoot enough to figure out the CR touch mount isn't quite low enough. Couple of spacers and I'm in business
Im glad i could help :).
Clear and to the point. Got my new SKR V3 working with this guide. Thank you!
Thanks for the feedback, you're welcome.
Just came here to say, THANKS! Struggling to get my BLTouch working with a default 5pin cable on the Mini E3 V3, as the Zhoming was not playing nice. You helped tremendously, and I was able to compile a working version with the most recent Marlin Bug Fix.. Now, I need to look at the changes that were in the DANBP firmware for the V2 board (I loved that), and convert some of those over to this. Appreciate your help!
Glad I could help!
thank you for this! I just installed my mini e3 v3, this was very helpful!
You're welcome
Thanks very much for going through the configuration step by step - my first time configuring using VS Code. Was having an issue with my microswiss v1 direct drive and hot end banging into the uprights on the Ender 3 Pro I modded. Was able to follow your guide and get everything straightened out. Yahoo!
Thanks for the feedback, im glad it was able to help.
Great video. Waiting for my v3 board to Arrive

Great video. fixed my 100 lines of compiler error!
Glad it helped!
Excellent! I needed a refresher on this to replace my old board with a new one.
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much! Now my bed homing is actually on the bed since I needed to do bed offsets due to a linear rail upgrade!
Glad I could help!
I‘m very grateful for this video I couldn’t have done it without you
Glad I could help :)
Thank you so much for such a complete walk through of how to do this. You have no clue on how many videos that I watched that just say download the marlin firmware you want and install it into your 3d printer and thats it. And that drove me so crazy. You have no clue how many times I went and download the marlin fw and un zipped it and put it on my SD card and tried to run it and nothing happened. So I really appreciate it so much. The only issue I have now is how to install the new creality touchscreen onto the BTT skr e3 v3 and have my new touchscreen work. If you can point me in the right direction I'd greatly appreciate 🙏
Hi. Thanks for the feedback. The creality screen really only works with creality firmware. I messed around for a while and couldnt get it to work with a marlin build.
@@3DPrintscape so can I install the creality firmware on the BTT skr e3 v3? So my screen will work? Or do I need to return it and go with the BTT one?
@@joewynn2445 No, that wont work. Since you already have the SKR i would return the creality screen and get the TFT. IMO the TFT is much better overall.
@@3DPrintscape yeah thats what I figured. I bought the creality 2.4.7 silent motherboard and new touchscreen but they sent it to me without a boot loader and firmware on the motherboard so I decided to just get the BigTreeTech board instead. Now I just wish I got the whole kit for the BTT skr mini board.
But do you know if I went with the BTT with octopi mother if that'll fit my printer. As of right now I'm running a raspberry pi zero w 2 and absolutely love it but id love to run the BTT board that has octopi with clipper but I'm not sure if it'll fit my printer. But I have to say, thank you so much for answering so many of my questions I really appreciate you taking the time to respond. Thank you!
@@joewynn2445 The SKR Mini e3 should fit the printer, thats what i have.
I saw your video on this board install. In it you mention needing a JST connection for the hot end fan. I did not have one and had to order a giant pack to get some (still waiting for arrival). I just saw another person's Y-tube post and he mentioned that since these wires were previously just continuous power, you could put them under the board power wire screw terminals. This gets you going until you can get a JST connector in hand. I thought it was a good idea, it has worked so far.
Hi. That should work as well. The only down side would be depending on the board/firmeware, you may lose some control but it shouldnt impact much.
Thank you. I'm very new to all of this. You are a great help
You're Welcome
Thank you, thank you, thank you. could not get this working until i found your video.

Incredibly helpful video. Thank you! My first time using Visual Studio or doing anything with firmware. Great tutorial!
Great to hear!
Great video for this process! Last time I uploaded firmware was to my very first homemade Prusa Mendel! (2006?)
The part about using the configuration files from Bugfix-2.1.x instead of Import-2.1.x was the lifesaver for me! Well done!
Thanks

Hi, about to replace my MKS Gen L on my Ender 5 (original) with an SKR Mini E3 V3. Currently I have the original Ender 5 screen, a 3.5" touch screen at the same time, Hemera direct drive that I am upgrading to a Revo at the same time as all this. Is there anything specific I need to keep in mind when setting up my firmware?
@@systemx17 You will want to pay attention to how the bltouch is wired, make sure the z stop is connected, uncomment EEPROM_INIT_NOW to clear the eeprom, and you may need to adjust the #define X_MIN_POS and #define Y_MIN_POS values if the nozzle isnt center.
i tried following this for my ender 3 pro with skr mini v1.2 and everything works exept the z axis wont go down. do you know what could be going wrong.

I keep running into an issue when building, even on the first test build. I keep getting a warning about "Motherboard DIAG jumpers must be removed when SENSORLESS HOMING is disabled" and the build doesn't finish or show "Success". Any thoughts?
Hi. It sounds like the config example may have issues. Try to grab a different one to see if that builds. That will tell you if the issue is with the config or a plugin or something on the computer.
Did you happen to find a resolution for this issue? I tried a different test build and also switched from the nightly build to the latest stable build and the test build from that version and still get this error.

Hi. I'm going to tackle this tonight. Any new updates that I need to be aware of before I dive in. Thank you for the awesome content as always! We all love your work!
What are the main difference between Z homing and BL - Touch? tks
Hi. Z homing is just setting the z position to zero (or a known location). If you dont have a bltouch the printer will use the z stop for it. If you do, it will use that. Its also worth mentioning that with it the firmware will home to 10mm on the z axis. You will need to set your z offset but that doesnt actually come into play until you print something.
@3D Printscape excellent! Thank you! Keep up the good work!

Hi. Will reply to your other comment.
this is very helpful; it would be super beneficial if you make a video about compiling a firmware for the cr10 series for the beginners
Hi. I will see what i can do here. I dont have a cr10 but i can explain the process.
Yeah this would be super helpful
When I used this method it says "folder contains a dev container configuration file reopen folder to develop in container" and had me install desktop docker as well, and that errors every time it opens. Anyone else have that issue?
Hi. I havent seen this and docker should not be required to build marlin.
@@3DPrintscape thanks for the reply. I wouldn't think so either. I just ignored the error and proceeded with the build w/o containers and it seemed to build no problem
Did video was so helpful. Thank you!

I dont have the option at the top of the menu to back a level in the menu tree any more. Have you ever experienced this?
Hi. What firmware were you on before and what are you on now?
@@3DPrintscape the stock ender 3 pro firmware. I followed the video minus the time left and percent complete.
@@13lackfir3 Honestly, i dont use the creality firmware anymore. Its possible they changed things up but marlin has been much better for me.
Hey Rob, thank you again as I have reviewed several of your videos while trying to troubleshoot another BTT E3 V3 Replacement board. I think I have finished all the programming now and the only issue I'm having is a lack of motor current, steps per MM, and stealth chop settings not being set on Marlin. I can easily add them after I upload the firmware.bin file to the motherboard, but I was wondering if I could do it in the configuration files before I create the firmware? I started with the ender 3 pro config files.
Hi. I did a quick check and didnt see setting for them in the config files. They get default settings from somewhere, probably a nested config, but changing it at the printer would be faster.
that's what I was thinking, thank you!
I'm getting ready to install this board with the TFT35 touch screen. This is totally NOT a bookmark comment.
:)
Breakthrough for me!! Thank you sooooo much.
You're welcome!
Hi, great video, I was able to reproduce all the steps correctly but I have 2 issues: the part cooling fan just won't work at all and bi linear bed levelling starts probing off the bed so that doesn't work. I have at my probe offsets in the advance settings by getting a reference point from the nozzle unto the bed and moving each axis until the bl touch was on the reference point and noted the observed offset.
Hi. Did you clear the eeprom? If so, make sure your x and y offsets are right. What value did you end up getting for them?
You are the first one to explain in a way that I could understand and when you did something it matched exactly with what I was doing. But here is my problem I have 4 printers 2 ender 3 & 2 cr10 about 2 months ago 2 of my ender 3 & 1 cr10 went down. So I bought 3 Creality V4.2.7 boards & the temp would not hold (5c over & 4 below) I work on this for about 6 weeks with no change. bought a big tree tech skr mini E3 V3.o and followed this video step by step * made the bin file & installed it. Still have the same on all 3 printers. CAN YOU HELP
Hi. Can you make sure the wiring is right? If seen this type of behavior when it was not connected right.
@@3DPrintscape Every thing is connected correctiy. When I run a PID the temp ogse pass the set temp then if fail temp is too high do not have no idea.
@@harrygithens3908 Did you verify the wiring or just know its right from when you did it?
@@3DPrintscape Verify all wires with an ohms meter to make sure that the wiring was correct. The old board (v1.1.4) had no problem with the hot end. now the V4.2.7 & the big tree tech SKR mini e3 ve.0 both have the same problem. I think it is firmware.
@@harrygithens3908 Ok, it is odd thats its happening with both boards. If you put the old board back in, does it work now?
I appreciate the tutorial very much. It helped me understand how builds are created. I have an ender 3 pro with the SKR mini V3 board and the CR touch. The touch is plugged in to the proper port and the Zstop is plugged in to the Z port. Unfortunately, when I Home the extruder it moves to the proper point and then begins to move down and does not stop, grinding the motor. I did the build twice thinking I made a mistake but same issue. I went to my previous build using bug fix 2.0.x with the SKR Mini Z homing build and it homes accurately on all axis. What could I be missing on the Z? My build was with the latest bugfix 2.1.
Never Mind! what I didn't realize is the Z axis should not hit the z stop sensor. you might add that for clarity in your write up. Works perfectly now! Thanks for the Video.
Hi. Im glad you got it working. Sorry if the video was confusing.
@robertb386 I am having the same issue on my ender 3 max with this board and the cr touch. Did your light on your cr touch not work? That is what mine is doing.
Great video and thank you for explaining in such detail.
I have a Kobra Go that I am trying to replicate this on. Could you share which setting to use for native ABL on the Anycubic. Would like to use the mesh UBL with 25 probing points.
On the SKR mini z-probe I added the ABL wires Gnd-Pwr-PA1
Hi. Honestly im not sure. I have not used that printer before.
I think a quick video explaining the difference between the V3.0 and the V3.0.1 firmware would help a lot of people !! Some people Ive helped on discord think its just a later version when in fact its for a different processor ! PS your posted link to BTT Github is dead .
Hi. I will add that to my backlog and thanks for letting me know about the link.
Thank you for great video. Will you make a video on SKR Mini e3 v3 marlin firmware for the BLtouch using the z end stop and not using the z stop on the BLtouch port?
Hi. Ya i can do that but the only change should be #define USE_PROBE_FOR_Z_HOMING .
Thanks as usual for the very thorough and informative instructional video. Question unrelated to the E3 V3. I have an E3 V2 which works great, but I'm having difficulty determining the source of a problem with the stepper motors grinding shortly at the extreme (most currently) of my X axis only while performing the bed leveling ( I don't print to the extremes of the print bed so this is likely why I only experience this with the bed probing). This was happening on the Y axis but has changed to the X axis now after I updated my Marlin to the latest Bugfix 2.1x. I have an ender 3 pro heavily modified with a creality sprite pro extruder and a BTT SKR mini e3 v2. No problems with printing or overall operation, only the short grinding of the X stepper when the bed moves to the right front corner. I do notice that the extruder is probing extremely close to the front edge of the build plate all along the X0 Y0 through the X235 Y0 edge. I have the default X_BED_SIZE and Y_BED_SIZE at 235, even though this is the extreme of the build platform and not realistic for the printable area. Any thoughts or suggestions on resolving the grinding issue is greatly appreciated. ADDENDUM: I neglected to add that I'm using a CRTOUCH
Hi. Have you tried to clear the eeprom at all?
I have not. Will try that out. Thank you for the suggestion
Well that didn’t work. I’m considering reducing the bed size from 235 x 235 down to 230 x 230 in the firmware. Not sure if this will do much
@@markkranc4478 What margin do you have set for the crtouch? May be worth trying to make that larger.
I set the margin to 20 mm. I re-did the firmware setup and reduced the bed size from 235 to 230 mm. I’m still getting the X stepper grinding at the extreme front right corner and a little at the back left corner. I double checked my CURA slicer bed settings and they were at 220 x 220. Not sure what other parameters to modify. The belts aren’t slipping, only the stepper motors trying to move beyond the bed edge. The X axis issue arose after switching to the Creality Sprite Pro head. Before that I had converted to direct drive using the stock ender 3 pro hot end and extruder stepper with a Printer Mods mounting plate. The nozzle offsets were significantly different. Of course I made the offset changes in Marlin. I also adjusted the X and Y min and max values in CURA in my machine setup. I didn’t check how the print head positions in relation to the printer bed and the hard rail stops. That thought just occurred to me. Once again, I’m very grateful for your input
Hi Rob, Great video, it really helped me go through all the firmware upgrade!
I started printing today and have run into another problem that I thought I would ask about. So it was printing for about 5 minutes maybe and then randomly the 3d printer rebooted all on it's own.
Would that be an issue with the power supply? Or where would you start looking?
Hi. That could be powersupply or an issue with the board. I would try another new firmware build in case there was an issue with the bug fix one then look at the power supply.
@@3DPrintscape thanks Rob, you mean looking at an earlier build of the firmware? I noticed that it seemed like the controller fan wasn't working so I changed something there in the firmware and then when I printed the layers weren't sticking to the bed, like it wasn't putting them down properly and the fan on the side of the print head wasn't on.. I am not sure if it is somehow related to my fans and I have messed them up somehow?

Hello,
Thanks for your video, it's very helpful.
I still have a question, I don't really understand wich options are for the BL/CR_TOUCH et which options are not.
Could you add a timelaspe on the video ? I think it can be helpful to understand better when we should change the settings when we don't have BL/CR_TOUCH.

Hi thank you for the great video very helpful just wondering if BLTOUCH_SET_5V_MODE should be enabled as i have BLT rev3. Also is it possible to print directly from the onboard SD CARD slot.
Hi. I didnt have to enable it and yes you can print fromt he sd port.
After selecting the first Marlin folder I got this error: Could not find one of 'package.json' manifest files in the package. Maybe that's why at the end of compiling I received a bunch of errors, like hal-SPI.cpp.o Errors. And I also have errors about the Motherboard DIAG jumpers must be removed when SENSORLESS_HOMEING is disabled. Also they've apparently changed SHOW SD PERCENT to SHOW PROGRESS PERCENT so I have those errors that I will fix and try again.

Hey Rob, I been watching you along time now and learned alot. I am having a big problem with my Biqu b1 printer. I purchased there idex upgrade kit a few weeks back the install was straight forward, however no matter what I do the added X axis is moving slower than the other. Any idea why the BIGTREETECH SKR MINI E3 V3.0 doesn't have a pre-built marlin file available to flash? And does the board work with a non-Creality 3d printer?
Or thoughts on on other BIGTREETECH boards (BTT Octopus Pro, SKR 3, etc).. that either use Marlin or Klipper? MKS Gen L V1.0, Metro M4?

hi there, I can't get my e3 v3 to work with Octoprint... besides Baudrate... is there anything I missed? Would be great if you had a video on how to connect it to octoprint.
Hi. The two main things would be the baudrate and to make sure the usb cable you are using supports data. Most cables people have around the house were meant for charging things and dont support data.
Hello, One thing i'm not clear on is having the z-stop plugged in while using a CR-Touch? Do you have something that discusses this further? I have an Ender 3 V2 with the SKR Mini E3V3, TFT35, and a BIQU H2 Revo extruder/hotend. Please help!!
Hi. Standard prebuilt firmware configs assume the z stop is connected and the bltouch/crtouch is plugged into the bltouch port on the board.
Having trouble with this, keep getting error code "The term 'platformio' is not recognized as the name of a cmdlet" when I try to build with ABM
Hi. It sounds like the platformio plugin is not installed, or not installed correctly.
I’m struggling with my skr mini e3 and tft35 combo on ender 5 plus. Got the new firmwares on both but says no printer attached and have no controls. I can use the touchscreen and select things but nothing works. Did notice serial port 1 is 6 and the other 3 are 0 but I can’t change and save. Other than that I’m lost
Hi. Does it work if you switch the screen back to legacy mode? If so, then its the connection or baudrate.
Thank you for this video, but I am struggling to get the progress bar and percentage to work. I think it is because I print from Octopi. I think I need to enable "Add 'M73' to set print job progress". But when I enable that line, the build fails. Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong?
Hi. The M73 command should already be enabled. What is the exact command you are to enable in the firmware?

Hi. I dont at this time, sorry.
I have a problem I just can't seem to fix. I have an Ender 3 original, with the SKR Mini E3 V3.0 board and a 3d touch. No matter what I do the 3d touch will only work when connected to the z-stop connector and on top of that it only works with the BTT firmware, nothing I compile myself works and the 3d touch pin goes down but when the pin is lifted up the z-axis keeps going down.
I'm trying to use the 3dtouch for automatic bed levelling AND as a Z-stop. Am I doing this wrong?
Hi. You would have to have the probe stop pins connected to the z stop port and the servo pins connected to the bltouch port. You would also need to have this enabled in the firmware. #define Z_MIN_PROBE_USES_Z_MIN_ENDSTOP_PIN
And so, what if you do not have your Z Stop connected and you have connected all five wires from the bltouch to the bltouch port on the mini e3 v3? (the it's really intended to be done)
Hi. Ive wired the bltouch different ways but the one i would recommend is what you described. Thats the one i use most of the time.

It goes through the normal routine (homes, etc), but when it gets to the step where it would normally lower the probe so you can adjust the probe z-offset, it just seems to freeze and nothing happens and I have to power cycle to get it to work again. Also, I don't see the normal "0.2 mm Shim" on the LCD, like it used to show at this step. However, I can use the "Home Offset Wizard" which does show the 0.2 mm shim. Has something changed on how this works from bugfix 2.0.x to 2.1.x? What is the purpose of the Home Offset Wizard vs the Probe Offset Wizard? Which should I be using? Can someone look at my config files and let me know if something is incorrect? Any advice is appreciated.
Hi. A lot has changed between the version and the daily build can be very instable. Try to clear eeprom and see if that helps.
I found that the default_envs was set to mega2650. I changed to STM32G0B1RE_btt and was able to auto build 1st run successfully.
Hi. That is normal. Try using the marlin auto build plugin in the future it helps alot.
I have just done all the changes to my firmware and it failed on Show SD Percentage, It has changed to Show SD Progress
Hi. There should be something like SHOW_SD_PERCENT om the configini file that you enable. The exact value may have changed, i grabbed this from an old cofig.
What settings are selected if using a bl touch wired into the bl touch port and no z stop switch?
Would like to know as well!
Hi. I have had issues with getting Marlin to work properly wired this way. What happens is the z axis doesn't go down. I would recommend keeping the z stop connected or connecting the two probe stop pins from the bltocuh there and uncommenting #define Z_MIN_PROBE_USES_Z_MIN_ENDSTOP_PIN.
@@3DPrintscape Thanks for the answer. If i plug in the Z endstop, and the blt ouch to its port, which Z endstop will the printer use? the end switch or the bl touch probe head?
@@3DPrintscape I ended up getting the TH3D firmware to work and went that route after hours of trying both ways on my own marlin build.
When I did the 5pin it would crash into the bed and the bl touch wouldn’t work. Same wiring on th3d and it worked fine, I was just having z offset issues (not saving).
Wired into the z stop Pins it also wouldn’t stop, and I had checked the firmware builds several times for correct settings. I even checked the pin file to make sure PC14 was the correct spot for white signal wire. 🤷♂️
Anyway I sure do appreciate the response sir! The video was very helpful and informative even though I had different issues.
@@jeepa777 I havent messed with the th3d firmware in a while. With marlin, if you have all 5 bltouch pins and the z stop connected you would make sure #define Z_MIN_PROBE_USES_Z_MIN_ENDSTOP_PIN is commented out or it will crash into the build plate. In this setup, it would use the probe on the bltouch as the stop.
Hi what changes to marlin would i need to make if i want to remove the endstop limit switch.
Hi. You would have to make changes to the wiring and firmware. Honestly, i would just leave the endstop there and wouldnt bother with the change.
Great vid thank you do you have any tips on dual z set up. Going from an e3 turbo where you had dual z levelling to this board where you can’t
Thank you
Hi. The most important thing is making sure the x axis is level and moving evenly.
@@3DPrintscape thank you just so disappointed love the g34 ability. Fitted complete linear rails all moving sweet
Put in the e3 v3 neopixel just felt let down lol. My own fault should read more
Your video was probably one of the best thank you
Hi I have an Ender 3 Pro and I have recently purchased an SKR min3 v3 and a CR Touch. In have watched your video which I found really helpful. I did however run into a series of problems when I made the suggested edits to the configuration settings. Various functions were reported as requiring things which were aparently not available e.g. "Mesh_Edit_Menu requires Mesh_Bed_Leveling..."The build is showing as "Failed". How can I remedy these issues? Thanks
Hi. Did you uncomment #define AUTO_BED_LEVELING_BILINEAR and comment out #define MESH_BED_LEVELING. It sounds like the second one may not have been commented out.
@@3DPrintscape Thanks so much for your reply. I will go through and check again.
Want to use this board on an old Rostock Max which is a delta style printer. Would I first do a build like you show in the video? And then using that build, do another build using a delta version of Marlin? I am looking for an example of a Config.h file for a delta printer as well. Any ideas/advice on accomplishing this?
Hi. I would look to see if there is an example config file for the printer your using. If there is one, just use that. If not, find one with a similar board and make any other needed changes.
While doing the mesh validation the following message showed up and stopped (unkown command: "626 h200 b60 r99").
Hi. Does the printer autohome correctly and what firmware are you using?
Hi I have an ender 3V2 and one of the lead on my fan port in OEM Motherboard melted. So I bought an SKR Mini E3 V3 now. I have done amazing work on this printer before and it has been an amazing journey with all upgrades - Microswiss hotend, Noctua Fans, Printing industrial grade material and everything. but now I am getting a lot of compiling errors when following your video. I am a mechanical engineer with zero coding knowledge. The problem started with DWIN_Creality_LCD error about custom cabling. I defined the no Custom Cabling error to suppress it (As guided by VS Code). but now new Unknown OSerrors are cropping up. Help me please.
Hi. Take a look at the config i have in my firmware build for that setup here. That builds fine so if you can make those changes then the ones you need for other mods after you should be ok. 3dprintscape.com/marlin-firmware-builds/
Hello, great video, now I got my first firmware. I installed the filament sensor, can you give me some advice on what to change in marlin? Thanks for what you do
Hi. There is a section for the runout sensor that needs enabled. I would also look at enabling the adv pause and park features.
Did you have to edit platformio for the environment. I follow yours to the T and when completed build fails because of that
Hi. If you use the marlin auto build plugin you dont need to. I have a video on it and would recommend it.
Very good video. I have a skr mini e3 v1.2, and a tft35. Is it necessary to change something in the firmware of the skr mini when I use this screen. It doesn't look like there's a problem, but it might be a hiccup?
Hi. Not to make the screen work but you may need to enable specific features for some of the options on the screen. If its not enabled, you will just get an error saying that.
@@3DPrintscape The screen gives me an error message on bed leveling. Do you know what I can do to activate the screen.
@@frodesellevoll Is it just saying abl isnt eabled? If so, and its enabled on the firmware just go into the abl menu and run a mesh, then save it. It gives that error because there is no meshed for it to fall back to.
My firmware is building without errors, but when I plug my SD card into my board, the screen is blank. The board makes a firmware.cur file with no issues but I cannot use my printer. I can flash BTT's provided firmware.bin files to the board, the screen isn't blank and I can control the printer. For some reason, my builds refuse to work. I'm at my whit's end right now. I am working with an Ender-3,
Hi. It sounds like something in the build isnt compatible with that board. I would try a different config example and make the needed changes for the printer.
Can I craft the firmware for my creality CR 5 pro h for BTT SKR mini e3 v3 board? I can not see this model in samples
Hi. Can you ask this question on the discord server, easer to provide help there. The invite is in the video description.
What display can be used on srk mini e3 v3. Mistakenly i bought btt mini 12864 v1.0 which doesn't match the pin ports on this board. What display should I get...!?
Hi. The standard generic ones that come with many creality printers works fine, or you can get the TFT one that BTT sells. I have a TFT35 and like it a lot.
This video was super helpful. I bought a Lanmu SD card extender and I keep getting SD init fail when I insert it. I have tried two different builds of Marlin and it still doesn't work. I'm running the SKR Mini 3 V3 on my Ender 3 Pro. My micro SD card works just fine. It's the stock 8gb card that came with it. Is there something in the firmware that needs to be changed to allow the extender to work?
Hi. I dont think anything needs changed for that. From my understanding, its just a converter and the board doesnt know about it.
Hey! is there a way to reopen the "Frimware.bin file " to edit. It seems the steepers homes in the wrong direction and crashes. Great video
Hi. You cant change the firmware.bin file. The changes would have to be made in the config and the firmware rebuilt.
I want to get this board to work properly with my ender 2 pro. However everytime I want to print something, the print head start printing at the home position, instead of printing on the bed. Can you help me with this?
Hi. I havent seen this unless you changed the origin at center setting in the slicer.
Thank you!!! I only got one issue..... my Z axis won't go down anymore and i can't find it. :(
Hi. Is your z stop connected? It needs to be with any of the newer firmware.
@3DPrintscape I have bl touch that is also connected, but my z axis won't work. I tried your firmware to fix z offset. With other firmware z axis works not z offset. I may made a mistake but best thing is ask :)
You still need the z stop connected with the bltoch for most firmware builds. @@spacegomine
@@3DPrintscape Okay, im sorry for the misunderstanding.
Hi there, thank you for the very informative video. I'm a complete noob when it comes to the firmware, but sooo keen to lean.
I have added a Bigtreetech Microprobe V2, on the SKR mini e3 V3, on my Ender 3 Pro.
I followed all your seps, excluding-the Bltouch and defined the Microprobe.
The Auto level fails, from old corner home position, the extruder moves to the center about 4mm above the bed, raises by 10mm, probe is deployed but comes shy of touching the bed and fails.
I have lowered it to the lowest point but still fails.
Could you maybe point me in the right direction for it to lower till it probes the bed?
Hi. Is the z stop being triggered or is the nozzle hitting the bed at all?
@3DPrintscape thanks for the reply. The probe doesn't trigger at all as it doesn't touch the bed. And the printer screen says failed please restart.
@@sebastienchiniah5720 Does the probe deploy like its supposed to and if so can you trigger it manually with your finger to see if it stops.
@3DPrintscape hi, I'd does I've changed the z safe homing hight from 10 to 8. It goes through the leveling. After homing again it fails to go low enough to trigger.
I manually move all the axises to 0 and did it again. But it just can't seem torecognize that the bed leveling is lower when homing.
@@sebastienchiniah5720 When the probe is out does it come down pass the nozzle enough to trigger. You may need to add a spacer on the bltough mount to lower it.
hey there! great vid! definitely helped me get forward a few steps in my quest to upgrade my printer! but i have a question. it would seem that after updating my firmware like this, that the USB port no longer allows octo4a to communicate with the board, and i was wondering if i had maybe missed something somewhere that you or someon else here could help me figure out? thanks in advance!
Hi. I havent seen this but maybe someone else has and can comment.
@@3DPrintscape hey! I figured it out with the help of the Marlin discord! The issue was build 2.1.2 aperently having issues with it's serial drivers, the told me to try 2.1.1 and it works almost flawlessly now !
@@RileyDWP Cool, im glad you got it working. Thanks for sharing the fix.
Great tutorial, I had to make a few other tweaks but it was super helpful.
Glad it helped! Just curious, what other tweaks did you make?
my show_sd-percent is not there. am i able to add things in? also mine would be somewhere around 1850 - 1860 on the index
Hi. Try to uncomment #define SHOW_SD_PERCENT in the configuration_adv file.
I solved (kinda lol) my issue with "#warning "Motherboard DIAG jumpers must be removed when SENSORLESS_HOMING is disabled". It may be useful for other users.
In first lines of configuration.h code I found #define MOTHERBOARD_BTT_SKR_MINI E3 V3_0, copied that, went to src > core > board.h in explorer and searched copied text using ctrl+f in this code. In the found line I copied text in brackets (for me it was STM32G0B1RE). Then come back to platform.ini in the explorer and edit line "default_envs", replacing mega2560 with copied text "STM32G0B1RE_btt" (Do not forget to add _btt). Then I built the firmware with the same warning, but now IT WILL WORK for your printer. The firmware was successfully installed, it even helped me to restore my mainboard from bluescreen I got earlier with firmware from github.
Hi. Im curious if all thats still needed if you use the marlin auto build plugin. It sets the environment variables based on the selected board and build you choose.
thanks
but you didnt tell about fan1/fan2 connectors bcz they are switched by default comparing to ender board.
Hi. Thats accounted for with the config example.
@@3DPrintscape If you follow pictures around internet you will see that you have to connect "part cooling fan to FAN0", "electronic fan to FAN1" and HotEnd to FAN2
But you have a problem here, when any motor starts, head fan starts spinning.
So in config you have to swap FAN1 and FAN2 settings:
Configuration_adv.h
#define CONTROLLER_FAN_PIN FAN1_PIN // it was FAN2
#define E0_AUTO_FAN_PIN FAN2_PIN // it was FAN1
or just swap it on motherboard.
FAN0 (or just FAN) is only fine.
