    04:30 Connecting Fan Port (Correction)
    The fan ports should be connected as follow:
    FAN0 Part cooling fan
    FAN1 Hotend heatsink fan
    FAN2 Motherboard / Enclosure fan
    ********************************
    Welcome back to Aurora Tech Channel. Today, I will take a look at the new Big Tree Tech SKR Mini E3 version 3.0. This is a drop-in upgrade for older generations of Creality printers, like the Ender-3, Ender-3 Pro, Ender-5, Ender-5 Pro, and CR-10.
    Like the previous versions of Mini E3 version 2, it’s a 32-bit board with TMC2209 silent stepper drivers. There are a few improvements in this latest version.
    After this upgrade, the print quality and the print speed will stay the same, but you will get a silent board and an extra fan port to control the hotend fan, it's no longer always on when the printer is not printing or heating. Now, it’s completely silent. Besides that, you also get some extension ports, so you can connect a touch screen that supports even more features.
    I hope you found this video helpful.

    Thanks kids! Even after 2 years the video is still relevant. I decided to do some maintenance to my Ender 3 Pro with an SKR Mini E3 V3 and tidy up all the wiring for the BL Touch and add a Creality light kit. I think I've had my Ender 3 for about 5 years and the only problem I've had with it was the original controller board quit working so I replaced it with an SKR Mini V2 board, then upgraded the V2 to a V3. You videos have been helpful, thank you very much for taking the time to make them.

    THANK YOU!!!!! I was pulling my hair out! The whole reason I went with BTT was because Creality tends to have firmware issues they don't address, and BTT had a lot of positive videos on UA-cam. 🤬

    I have been struggling with the Ender 3 Pro with the BTT SKR Mini E3 V3.0 and the CR touch for a while. This was the fix. Worked beautifully.
    - Updated BTT TFT Firmware
    - Updated BTT SKR Firmware (with Z-Homing)
    - Swapped the pins per video instructions.
    Thank you! :)

    Thanks, I had the exact same problems using the BLTouch Z homing firmware provided on BTT's github. I moved the 2 wires to the Z-stop plug. Might I add that you should mention that if the wires are reversed, it will continue to drive the nozzle down even when the sensor is tripped. Simply reversing the wires solves this. I did this, as my wire colors were totally different than yours. I knew what to do because I had to reverse the wires when I installed a BLTouch on an old CR-10 years ago.

    Great video Aurora. I have the BTT V2.0 board in my Ender 3 Pro. I just installed the dual Z axis upgrade and saw there were 2 Z ports on the BTT V2.0. The cable that came with the upgrade kit is a splitter cable. I wanted to find out if I should run a separate cable from each Z port to each Z axis motor instead. I didn’t realize it until I watched this video that the 2 Z ports are coming from the same stepper driver. So now I know that the one stepper driver can handle both stepper motors. its not very uncommon to use both the bltouch and endstop, it just makes it simpler to install it into the dedicated bltouch port and not have to deal with removing the z endstop or unplugging it and it makes the firmware configuration a bit easier

    • @AuroraTech
      @AuroraTech  2 роки тому +7

      That's true, you don't have to edit firmware or rewire the cables if you keep the limit switch. But I never use a Z limit switch on any printers with a bed leveling sensor. If I keep the mechanical limit switch and use it for homing, the first layer will depend on the accuracy of the limit switch.

I had a BL Touch, so I have tried to add it as your video shows, but it is not working and wants to smash the base without stopping. I thought I had loaded the correct firmware with auto homing, but the red light on the BL Touch never comes on. Just the little blue dot light. So, my BL Touch colors are different with a blue wire instead of green, but they are in the same places as yours. I just can't figure this out. Why is the BL Touch not lighting and moving the retractable arm?

    Would love to hear back from you!

    Note - you forgot to mention that there is HOT GLUE everywhere on all creality boards and that you have to carefully remove the hot glue in order to remove most of the cables without damaging them.

    I am having issues with installing klipper and getting my BL touch to work. I ran Marlin fine after swapping pins. I wanted klipper and now my BL touch is the only issue I am having. Is switching these pins the correct thing to do for klipper as well as marlin ?

    Hello, thanks for the video, I followed the steps and everything is working, the bl touch works perfect! but the problem I have is that I do not get to work the marlin mode, the screen is black always, and I need it to configure the e steps, because I do not know how to use the touch screen terminal

    • @AuroraTech
      @AuroraTech  2 роки тому +1

      You can just type M92 Exxx to set the E steps, xxx is your step number. Then use M500 to save it. For the classic Marlin mode, once you connected the ribbon cable, it should just work automatically, you don't need to config anything.

      It's up to you, without it, the printer still works fine. But the silent stepper drivers will make your printer prints a little better with less ghosting and even more handy features with the touch screen.

    I’d like to point out that the fan2 port should be for the motherboard fan and the fan1 port will go to the hotend heat sink fan, so the video needs to point that out because I had tried configuring it similar to the video but my hotend fan would never turn on. Hope this helps!

    Great video! I bought the Creality 4.2.7 silent board for my Ender3 only to have the bed mosfet fail. I replaced it with BTT board just as this video shows and it's been great. One of the best pieces of advice is taking pictures of original board connections before starting. This is great advice before doing anything you're modifying. I work on motorcycles and document steps start to finish.
