Very refreshing to look back in the days when respect was the order of the day when it came to the black family the Staple singers was a fine example of family bonding and love on and off stage Pop Staples did an excellent job of leadership and guidance with his son and daughters long live the Staple Singers!!
I used to see Pops in the grocery store in Dolton, IL prior to his passing away. I was always in awe of him and it reminded me of when I first saw the group at Friendship Baptist Church in East Chicago, In during the 50's. 2/9/2020. R.I.P. Pops.
yea that ice storm took him out of here, he slipped on the ice right? we had about 3 major ice storms within 2.5yrs, couldn't walk to my car in parking lot!😳
This was an awesome tribute to Pops Staples and his lovely daughters and basically finding out about his involvement in the Civil Rights Movement and his fight against Apartheid in S. Africa.
A journey , so hard , filled with human agony of a race whose origin are very painful to mention , an epic story like many of their predecessors before reveals, so much of the other side , where besides being denied the right to express themselves freely , without the limits of racial segregation , discrimination, and prejudice so overwhelming and tormenting by then in the volatile south. The staples are renowned for the songs: respect yourself , I will take there , why I'm treated so badly , come with me on soul train .Therefore , indeed Abraham Lincoln said that men are born and created equal in the eyes of god , and a nation so conceived in liberty , will long endure , so that the nation of the people shall not perish on earth.
