Anything about the big elephant in the room regarding the distance it covers ad a lot of people saying it’s poor with the new remote with monitor built in?
That new controller had me weak. Very sleek and handy especially I don’t like using my phone so much when flying. I’m impressed with the Mini 3 Pro but also looking forward to see more improvements in the coming updates. It’s going to get even better for sure.
Excellent review! You nailed so many questions. Overall with reduction in noise, it’s weight and tech and flight time. This is a perfect choice. Thanks 🙏 for taking the time to hash this review out for us. FYI DC rainmaker did a high wind review. This drone did not have many issues!!
Excellent review, the video and photo quality look amazing. If price is not a concern which drone would you go for. This is not for professional use now but may be later on. Mav 3, Air2 s, or mini 3 pro? Appreciate your insight.
Hum it's hard to say as it depends on everyone's profile. I would say if you're not pro (yet), I'd go for mini 3 or air2s not mavic 3. Then between air2s and mini3 I think I answer it best in the conclusion of the video.
@@ZimyDaKid cool. I think it's settled then. I'll get this for my travels internationally. I wonder what the Mavic 4 will be like. I'm not opposed to owning two drones.
Nice Video! I'm actually kind of confused whether to choose buying the air 2s or the mini 3 pro. I know the mini 3 pro doesn't have 10 bit, at least at the time this video launched. But now it does, so what are your thoughts about this? will it makes the mini 3 pro an equal as "Professional" drone as the air 2s? Because I think that the 5.4k in the air 2s is not a big deal to have, since on the mini 3 pro, with a cheaper price, offers some other features that the air 2 s doesn't have. So would you take the mini 3 pro over the air 2s for a "Professional" work?
Great review 👍🏽 well I have been very patient in wanting to upgrade.. just sold my Mini 1 and was ready to go with the Mini 2 then the Air 2s came out and was ready to pull the trigger on that one then that's when all of the rumors were coming out about a possible mini 3.. so on release date I placed my order..can't wait!!! So my question to you is when transferring video and photos from the drone do I still go into the app on my phone or will they upload to the RC controller? I know this might be a simple answer but this will be my first time with an RC controller.
Hi Marcial thanks for your comment. To be honest I'm not sure about this one as I never upload the footage on my phone. I always plug the sd card of the drone on my laptop, then I edit everything on my laptop and then send the final product to my phone from my laptop.
Excellent review and very cool drone shots, thank you! I go for the Air 2S, with the actual 26% discount it’s almost at the same prize, and the weight is not so important for me.
Regarding the controller, I don't know exactly I didn't calculate but it doesn't last as long as the ones that don't have screens since this one has to power the screen as well. Regarding the ND filters the ones I have are from DJI so they should be available very soon if they aren't yet.
@@ZimyDaKid Thanks for the reply. I saw the ND filters on DJI's site... a set of 3. I hope the controller lasts 4+ hours and hopefully more like 6 just to be sure! That's a good test that I haven't seen anyone doing.
Great review video and thing just fluid as cinematic A grade production. Did Mini 3 pro or Air 2S has vivid option like Mavic Platinum ? or D Cinelike better than vivid onboard by Mavic Platinum
No I haven't. I shoot 25 because I almost never use slow motions with drones. Also when I was shooting the video, the mini3 wasn't fully ready yet since it was a month before its release and the 4k-60 wasn't available yet. Moreover, if you shoot at a higher frame rate for a similar bit rate you'll have the best image quality when shooting lower frame rates since its using the same bitrate but capturing less images for each second.
@@ZimyDaKid that's awesome you were able to get it so early and your videos are fucking fantastic! So basically stay in a lower fps for better video quality, even with 60fps available bc of the low bitrate
Would love to see a direct video comparison vs the Air2S, maybe with D Cinelike vs LOG and 8bit vs 10bit, if its even really noticeable for you while editing and on UA-cam. Great video, very detailed :)
Unfortunately I won't have time to do this but you can check my DJI Air2s review which is on my UA-cam channel as well where I show all the raw shots as well and everything !
In terms of flying experience I'd say they are pretty similar apart from the fact that the air2s is a bit bigger and faster. As a first drone, both are amazing options and I would personally start with the Mini3 as it is slightly cheaper and lighter.
Great review, Zimy. I have the Air 2S and am planning to stick with that. I like having the 10-bit color and the 8 gigs of on-board storage came in handy when I forgot my SD card. Vertical video is sweet, but I'll keep cropping for now.
@@NotToShabbyTV the camera on the Air 2S is 20mp, so I always have more than I need. I run everything through Lightroom before I post it anyway, so it's not bad to crop. I shoot video in 5.4 or 4k, so that's usually bigger than the crop as well. I will eventually get a Mini 3 for the true vertical shooting, though.
@@JeffWhiting Thats my question, im still on the edge of returning it for the mini 3 just because i want true vertical shooting. Do you think if i primarily do vertical shooting it makes more sense to haver the mini 3 or just stick with the crop?
Nice review! According to latest post on DJI forum in the latest firmware they added 10-bit color in D-Cinelike color profile. Regarding limited range other users confirm that this is a real problem. Btw, yours Mini 3 Pro was CE or FCC version? FCC should have noticeably better range.
Did you also test the mini 3 pro with the old controller? A lot of people have problems with the range of the mini 3 pro...maybe it's a problem with the internal antennas of the new RC controller?
@@ZimyDaKid there are a few range tests online and all got problems/signal loss above 1,5 and 2 km . That's ok, but for a drone that should go 8 km in Europe and 12 km in US that's not that good ;-).
Really good video and review dude! Using air2s myself too, amazing drone, although can't fly really far, idk why,but over 700m gonna losing connection.. pretty sad. Have any idea why? Appreciate it!

Good to see some post processing vs raw footage - it looks like you added some sharpening & the results are quite good. Unlike other DJI drones, the Mini 3 video footage looks soft
Can the built-in fly app of the RC do a direct live stream via RTMP? or perhaps there is HDMI clean video output? That is what I need before I buy 1. Any answer from those who already bought will be super duper highly appreciated
I got off at the ND filters bit. My view is if a thousand dollar drone cannot shoot decent video without buying extra filters and fiddling around with them, then just NO!
I don’t know if it will go farther in the U.S. because we are on 5.8ghz but only 2Km where you are and it losing reception? My original DJI Mavic Mini goes farther than that about 2.7Km or 1.7 Miles with ease.
I answered this question throughout the review and also gave my personal opinion at the end. I don't think one is better than the other, they are different and fit more depending on the needs of the person using it.
A crazy guy is testing all new drones on the coast in wind speed 4-5. His channels name is "DC Rainmaker". He did the same with the Mini 3 pro. It handles much more wind than I thought. He only wouldn`t fly if the wind goes toward the sea.
This was my own experience. It was doing totally fine until about 2km. Maybe there was wireless transmissions around having an impact or just the topography it's hard to say... And also hard to extrapolate to all shooting conditions as there are so many things that can impact the range
@@ZimyDaKid I understand but based on what I've seen so far on youtube, it doesn't look so good so far, most said it's about 1-1.5km range which very far off to what is stated on the spec.
To get the full "pro" experience it basically becomes an Air 2s "+" and has to be registered and defeats the whole purpose of a "mini" drone. And becomes an awesome small drone with a great controller
The full frame equivalent of the mavic 3 is f 5.5 the full-frame equivalent of the Mini 3 is f 6.1 the air 2s is over f8 so why wouldn't you compare it to the mavic 3? The only real difference is 150 bitrate vs 200 bitrate? And 1/2 stop of light.....
I personally think that both drones aren't targeting the same audience at all. First of all, the budget is not the same. The Mavic 3 is capturing ProRes vs 8bit initially for the Mini 3. Sensor size, drone size, drone weight, flying speed, etc they are so different on so many points this is why I thought it made more sense to compare it to the air2s.
@@ZimyDaKid I think they are seeing the effects of viewing 24 or 25 fps clips on a 60Hz monitor. Only way to avoid that is filming and editing in 30 or 60 fps. And get the "soap opera look" for free :D
@@JamesDark yes, but that doesn´t help when viewing the final 24 fps video on a 60 Hz monitor. It will still look somewhat jittery. Should be OK at 120 Hz, though.
@@ZimyDaKid nor is it mine, I just notice so many people that say dgi for yrs I get a kick out wondering why. Why are you flying in a restricted zone for model aircraft and drones? As a drone pilot I respect the local rules and I wish that every pilot would respect them ✌️
@@ZimyDaKid “the cliff” Creux-du-vans. You can fly till the edge but not inside (or over) since it’s a animal/nature protected area. This applies also to drone lighter than 250g
@@zero_twelve the cliff is indeed the border of the protected area meaning the nature reserve / protected area is the area at the bottom where we never flew at all. During the whole shoot, we flew along the border = along the cliff staying away from any animals that are part of the reserve that is once again hundreds of meters away.
@@zero_twelve Sorry for the 3 meters inside... I was still far away from the protected area since it's, as mentionned, at the bottom. According to the amount of tourists visiting this place every single day, I think that there are much bigger issues disturbing wildlife than this shot on the border of the NFZ. You can also for example see on Google Maps that there s a shooting range (stand de tir) just a bit more than a km away from the protected area... So I truly appreciate your concern for wildlife but as a conservationist myself I always am very careful not to disturb wildlife and the situation you're pointing out isn't disturbing a single animal.

I wasn’t completely losing connection but I had only 1-2 bars of reception making the video return not super smooth sometimes. Not always tho.
Hello,,did you say the nd filters for other dji drones will fit the mini 3?
No no you cant use NDs from other drones. Only the ones especially made for the mini3pro.
Thanks for the reply👍
Hows the range? Havent watched but feels like it wont be tested in this review
Check the chapter controller - transmission. I talk about my experience regarding the range
@@ZimyDaKid should do a range test regardless. Absolutely 0 vids of that. Makes me sus. Might cancel my order
@@HummusPvm not allowed to do the range test until drone is officially released thats why you haven't seen a range test yet.
@@MichaelRobinson-id3ep but WHY? Also content creators are denying this so where u getting the info from?
I think the Mavic mini 3 pro is better than the air 2s right??
I answered this question throughout the review and also gave my personal opinion at the end. I don't think one is better than the other, they are different and fit more depending on the needs of the person using it.
@@ZimyDaKid thanks for the reply , appreciate it!!
The only thing stopping me from getting this drone is the current lack of availability of ND filters.
There are some now (DJI - 49 Euros)
@@gilbertguerin9080 That's good news. I contacted Freewell. They told me they will have filters for the Mini 3 bay late May.
the ones I have are from DJI
Mini 2 or Mini 3 PRO if taking photos is my only concern?
It's hard for me to answer this question because I never tried the mini2
A crazy guy is testing all new drones on the coast in wind speed 4-5. His channels name is "DC Rainmaker". He did the same with the Mini 3 pro. It handles much more wind than I thought. He only wouldn`t fly if the wind goes toward the sea.
Sounds interesting I will check it out thx

Why is it so much lagging all the time?
Not sure what you talking about here
@@ZimyDaKid the video is not smooth
Thanks for the review. Very disappointed with the range (compares to what's stated on the spec).
This was my own experience. It was doing totally fine until about 2km. Maybe there was wireless transmissions around having an impact or just the topography it's hard to say... And also hard to extrapolate to all shooting conditions as there are so many things that can impact the range
@@ZimyDaKid I understand but based on what I've seen so far on youtube, it doesn't look so good so far, most said it's about 1-1.5km range which very far off to what is stated on the spec.
goodd evening- you made interesting ~ 👌
glad you enjoyed it
You were testing this drone while people were still speculating what it would be!
ahahahha yup
@@ZimyDaKid I would really like to see a footage comperison between all three😀
New firmware update increased to 10bit
Yes ! Just mentioned it in the pinned comments ! Thx for the comment !
all the clips from the drone are lagging... you should add that to your review
I don't see any lag. Maybe your computer is ahaha
@@ZimyDaKid I think they are seeing the effects of viewing 24 or 25 fps clips on a 60Hz monitor. Only way to avoid that is filming and editing in 30 or 60 fps. And get the "soap opera look" for free :D
film at 30 fps and slow down to 80% in editing for cinematic 24fps footage
@@JamesDark yes, but that doesn´t help when viewing the final 24 fps video on a 60 Hz monitor. It will still look somewhat jittery. Should be OK at 120 Hz, though.
@@MartinFranssonmy monitor isnt 60 too, but its perfectly fine, I will show you the test footage
In terms of transportation, the small size of the drone is absolutely pointless, when you have to cary even bigger remote control …
Understand your point. I personally really like this new controller and not having to use my phone.
Was that even air worthy after you mauling it😆
mauling it?
Its not a DGI it is a D jay I Get it right people !
English isn't my mother tongue but I hope you've been able to understand the review despite this horrific mistake I did :)
@@ZimyDaKid nor is it mine, I just notice so many people that say dgi for yrs I get a kick out wondering why. Super great vid btw I been flyin 30 yrs and flyin the mavic pro 1 since it came out, I am either getting the mini 3 or some thin from exo soon, really wanting a hour flight time and an actual tracker lot software app tracker so when surfing with my dogs in Baja. Soloshot has a sweet tracker ya put on your arm so it never looses you.
Why are you flying in a restricted zone for model aircraft and drones? As a drone pilot I respect the local rules and I wish that every pilot would respect them ✌️
I would be very interested to know which zone your talking about.
@@ZimyDaKid sorry but you did fly inside, see minute 7:41
btw. I really liked your video put pay attention to the rules next time 😉
@@zero_twelve Sorry for the 3 meters inside...
Yeah, yeah. What. Is. Real. Range? You try to tell us that after one month of testing, this question does not occured to you?? Or you mustn't speak of it or no more goodies from DJI next time? And why on Earth I am still watching almost only your bearded face when I was curious about ON FIELD drone test?
The real question everyone is wondering is why are u being agressive for no reason? Ahahahahah
@@ZimyDaKid Oh, sorry. I thought I am obvious enough. My bad. English is not my first language. You call your review "Complete on-field REVIEW after using it for a month".
