It's important to go back to the basics and make sure your horse is able to bend using it's body correctly. This is super helpful both from the ground and in the saddle.
Another ground rule in rearing situations, is to ask the horse to move sideways or backwards, never forwards. This helps the horse get out of the tough spot of feeling trapped and wanting to rear.
