Camera bags. The eternal quest for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I’ve got a different camera bag for each outfit (digital, LF, Polaroid I-2, 35mm SLR, Mamiya 6). The advantage, to me, is that each bag is set to go at pretty much a moment’s notice. There are a couple of cross bag items (e.g., light meter) but they reside in a special spot near the bags. And, rarely, I’ll take more than one camera out on a shoot. KISS is the one thing I’ve learned doing photography for over 50 years. Simplify, reduce, eliminate… Can’t wait to see the I-2 video! I LOVE that camera and the results it gives me. So much so, it was the only camera I took on my first trip to Japan a couple months ago. Now, that’s commitment. Great video on what looks to be a great bag - but I’ve got all I need. 🙂
After getting this bag, my Bellingham & Peak Design sling hasn’t been used much. It’s that good! I wasn’t so confident about its waterproofing, but you have confirmed it for me. Thanks a lot!
Ordered one after this video. Came in yesterday and it is perfect. It's everything I wanted in an everyday sling that the Peak Design one fell short on.
I have had the 7L for a few years, traveled all over the world in harsh conditions with it. The bag is aging very well, and is as sturdy as ever. I fit 2 Fuji XT5 with 2 primes lenses attached. The hidden pocket where the pass through is my favorite . You can hide your wallet there. THE BEST BAG I HAVE EVER OWNED, and I tried a lot of them.
I had one in Khaki but sold it because at the time I wasn't using it much, but I may get another in black for travel. The only thing I wasn't so keen on was the clasp for travel and it not feeling so secure when it was on my back, I may have to find a way to address this issue but other then that it's a great bag, one of the most versatile I've ever seen.
The problem with Wotancraft is that not having EU shop, the taxes + shipping cost makes their products incredibly expensive. They would sell x20 by having an European shop with free shipping from x€, as any other relevant company.
Photospecialist carries a lot of Wotancraft gear, admittedly not the full range, but that’s where I got my Pilot shipped from. £6.99 delivery, no import duties etc.
@@TungstenOvergaard Bit late but vintage217, official retailer from netherlands, also sells it. I've put my email there to be notified couple of times for when they have stock, but then once they got I could not commit to order it. I still think that 175€ for a camera bag is nuts. Prices are way too high. Anyway, I'm still waiting for the next time they have stock, and will probably order it this time.
Great overview! Love my Pilot 7L and it's travelled so well -- throughout Oregon, Kauai, S. Korea and more. Such a well thought-out bag with great pocketing and so durable. Ended up picking up their Sling Pouch 3.5L as an EDC bag, and even though it's not technically a camera bag, it carries my X-T3 + XF23mm f/1.4 WR without blinking.
Love this bag. I also have the 10L. My Peak Design bags are idle. My top bags 3 bags: Large storage - Domke F-2 and F-1X...classic and tough Shoulder bags - Wotancraft 7L and 10L...enough said Light backpacks - Tenba Fulton 10L and 14L...really great values... awesome bags
I have been using the larger version for over a year. Absolutely love it. The length of the strap is a bit awkward (have the newer strap) so I used a paper clip to shorten the strap
Dude, yes. I've been using Wotancraft bags for years now, and I am consistently impressed with how intelligently designed and well-built they are. Also, in spite of just how good (and good looking) their bags are, they can be had for a fantastic price compared to more "luxury" oriented bags.
On the money. Started with the 3L for a little M11 carry, went up to the 7L - great - finally up to the 10L - perfect for me! Without much more outer size, fits my MacBook Air, journal in the back, and 2plus cameras. So it’s my work briefcase AND camera bag in one. And Fidlock is king! Concur - GREAT bags!
Brilliant bag. I used to lug a great big Portabrace loaded with all kinds of nonsense I’d never use, now just this with an XT5 and a FM2. Tempted by the new backpack too.
I agree with you about this bag, It's the best I have found and I have a lot of bags. As I said to someone else. See if you can track down a "US pilot's waterbottle" 1 pint. Really cheap but being flat6with a slightly curved profile fits so well in the side pocket.
Welcome to the club. I love my Pilot 7L. My only complaint is the fact that the Molle webbing is sewn on vertically which is the wrong direction! This prevents you from adding third party Molle pouches and accessories. Well, you can add them but their orientation will be turned 90° which isn’t ideal. Sewn horizontally is the industry standard.
You can cram A LOT into the 7L. I've been hauling around my gw680iii and my M6 in this bag for a while. I keep meaning to gab some of the add on pouches. One thing that the tripod staps work well for is carrying a light rolled up rain jacket.
Love this bag! Also switched from the peak design. I jumped on it when they dropped the salt and pepper color. I also have the same complaint about the side pocket and it’s minor, but I ended up using a plastic water bottle when I’m out and it fits perfectly.
14:11 I didn't even know it has that hidden side pocket! And I reviewed it too... 😂 Agree on all points. Great bag for almost everything, including diapers and wet wipes for the kids haha. The side pockets are uncomfortable to use but they are great for key or a wallet when you need to free your pans pockets. They also often go totally unnoticed by security checks ;-)
@@SamuelStreetlife They’ve stashed pockets in their stash pockets. And that’s a good call, I actually put my keys and wallet in one of the side pockets as I’m going inside my house so I know where they’re at and I know they won’t fall out.
I'm looking into this bag as a diaper/dad bag. In your experience, how stable is it when worn? I don't want to have it swing forward and whack my little one either when I'm bending over to pick them up or if I'm chasing them around!
I bought the brompton version, 7 liters, so that I can mount to my brompton, it protect my camera gear well. I go overseas I just removed the brompton metal frame, and use as normal camera bag.
It has been my go-to bag for the past 2 years (got it in green). As a documentary photographer I needed an inconspicuous bag that I could carry on the field. I even stopped using a strap with my camera. It is in my bag and I get it out when needed. One of my best investments. However I never use the extra pouches (bottle holder and extra pocket) on the front of the bag. It makes the bag too front heavy, too bulky, and not very practical. Just my 2 cents! ✌️
Need a place to store a small tripod at the bottom. Not everyone needs it but you can always ignore it if you dont need it. It wont cost them anything.
Mine has two straps on the bottom to hold a tripod. I don’t see those straps on his. Also, you can rest a tripod across the top of the bag under the top flap and tighten down the top flap over it and it holds pretty well.
I REALLY wish they would release a 5L version of it. I have the 3.5L & it’s barely too small but the 7L is just a bit too large. 5L would be the Goldilocks bag for me
I have tons of bags, but the Wotancraft is definitely the best camera bag I’ve ever had. Now I’m waiting for the 10l pilot, which is difficult to get in Germany. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
I don’t think so. It just barely fits my iPad Pro 11” which is great. but it definitely could not fit my 14” MacBook Pro M1. I think if you got the 10L version it would hold a 13” laptop.
As always a great video! I have been searching for the perfect bag for years. Lately I’ve been using the Wandrd Roam sling. It barely fits my M6 with the Voigtlander 50, f1.5 and my Q2 at the same time. It’s tight but works. Looking for something a tiny bit bigger. I’ve been looking at this bag for a while.
