All i know that St.Nicholas was the first santa claus every Christmas St.nicholas give gifts to the children and as the video says that thomas nast (idunno the spell soooo) created an upgrade version of them he called him santa and made him taller and older and have a different story and he made that so we (The new generations) can believe that santa is true but the santa that was made is all an imagine so I believe santa is real but the real santa doesn't have a sleigh that could fly with 8 reindeers the real santa was a human that gives children gifts every Christmas......

We In the Nordic countries have never celebrated Christmas and St nicholaus. Lerned this when i got older... our name for Christmas is Jul and his name is Julefar, julgubbe and stems from the name Julnir which is another name for Oden. Even though we are Christians we celebrate the hednic version of it :)
Huh, "Julefar" is that the Norwegian name for him? In Sweden we call him "Jultomten" - Which essentially means "the Jule Gnome". We had this belief in yard gnomes (like in the series "David the gnome") that we superimposed on Santa. It seems its a long mishmash of myths come together. Though, to be fair for a long period it was "Julbocken" that handed out presents (the Jule Goatbuck), all the way until the 1880s. Then a Swedish poet (Viktor Rydberg) wrote some lines probably affected by the American traditions in the late 1870s and we jumped on the "Santa Claus" bandwagon. His name might be different, but for all intents and purposes it is the same character we are referring to.
Soooo the short of it is... Santa Claws is fictitious. It's like my traumatized childhood all over again when I found out I was lied to by adults.

This is not the actual origin of Santa. The very first origin of Santa was about 5000 years ago in Sapmi (Lapland though that's a derogatory term) by the indigenous Sami people (lapps, also derogatory) , and was appropriated much later by Europeans. Santa is from the north pole, because the Sami people are from the north pole, and were there for thousands of years before anyone else. The origin is from Sami shamens who would go door to door with psychedelic mushrooms, going down the chimney of the laavus (kinda like a teepee), imparting gifts of wisdom, playing the drums and chanting. Santa is red, because the mushrooms were red. The mushrooms would make it feel like you were flying, and the reindeer ate the mushrooms and would feel the same way, thus why Santa and the reindeer are flying and going door to door. People would offer the shamens food in return. It's sad that nobody knows about the Sami people in the first place, and leave it to white Europeans to appropriate indigenous culture and take it for their own. The fact that there's an origin of Santa video without one mention of the Sami people is shameful, and as the History Channel, you should do better, and not completely rewrite history.

The Gothic idol Odin, is what is passed off around the world as Santa Claus.
But for those who have ears and eyes, Odin the pagan god of the Goths, had nothing to do with and nothing in common with the pious and devouted life of Saint Nicholas.
I feel like this is incorrect, in Austria and Germany there is the two version of Santa Claus the good and the bad, that the one brings toys to the good kids and the bad kids get a visit from the bad one, it’s a tradition they have and it was used way before those two gentlemen did all that

I no longer believe in the stereotypical image of Santa, however, unlike most people I know, I do believe there is a supernatural order to the universe, so I just believe that Santa is basically the spirit of the real St. Nicholas and he just makes his Prescence known within us on Christmas Day when we give gifts.

Saint Nicholas is acctualy not Santa. He is the Dutch version of Santa (the Dutch still do christmas) called Sinterklaas/Sint-Nicolaas. Or maybe he is both.
