@@skrewyu mine came with a broken spring tank and makes a rattling noise in the right speaker like somethings loose though. Any tips would be much appreciated lol
Yes, it really is. Tone comes from the pre amp unless you absolutely crank it to get power tube distortion/drive. But this amp does a great job of creating great overdrive. And with the stereo spread, you have sonic nirvana!
@@skrewyu never used distortion pedals with this amp. used a foot switch but if it wasn’t available, just controlled the drive with the guitar’s volume. cleans up beautifully.
I just bought one for 130€ and its even the Blue Edition.. This was my first Amp I ever had, originally I bought that Amp in 1994 and I never forgot it... so I‘m so happy to have it again soon! I use it for low gain Bluesy sounds and clean... its a great Amp
I just picked one of these up the other day and I can't stop playing it - with the stereo effects loop (the reason I bought it - for my Plethora X5) and valve distortion channel it's like my JC120 on steroids. Even sounds good turned down. Paid DKK 1600 for it - so about 280 dollars and it's the best value for money purchase I have made since I started buying guitar gear. Sounds insanely good with a stereo reverb in the effects loop. It even sounds awesome without effects plugged in.
Does this amplifier work in stereo? I have the same, but I had to send it to repair and when i received it, the sound lacks body and only when i push the chorus, it comes alive, full-bodied and strong. The technician said that it is because without the chorus the amp works on Mono and tightening the effect, it makes it mono, that is why it differentiates in sound, but i do not believe it. Any suggestions?
The stereo effect is only noticed when you engage the chorus function. It is 80 watts mono without the chorus, or 40 watts per side in stereo with the chorus.. What you're noticing when switching the chorus effect is the difference between a mono output and a stereo output.
@@skrewyu my bad, it´s not the same model. I have the 8280 bi chorus. In the Marshall forum, a guy say maybe it´s out of phase and have to check the speaker input jack. Thanks for answer me.
@@jorgers3280 doesn't matter which model, the stereo output only occurs when you engage the chorus effect. If the speakers are out of phase just switch the positive wire to the negative and the negative to the positive. But if you are getting good stereo output with the chorus effect engaged, it's not the phasing.
Hard to say. If it’s a static buzz or hum you might need to clean the pots to eliminate it. Sometimes dust gets in there. Or, it is possible that the preamp tube is bad and has caused a hum. You can replace it with any quality 12ax-7 tube. Hopefully you can get that amp going again, best of luck
@@skrewyu from what Google tells it's 290 in dollar. it seems to be in pretty good condition just a bit dusty it still has the foot switch. Didn't get to try it out yet
Cheers for the share. Just noodling around with mine today. Still sounds fantastic 👍
Today I got reunited with this amp after 22 years. It sounds epic as on the day I heard it for the first time.
Yes, so cool sounding!
We got one the same day lol

my favorite amp. back in the 90’s, the bar where we used to play had this amp. just love the sound. the drive tone is just beautiful.

I really enjoyed your demo, great choice of songs played too. It’s a massive sounding combo 😃, thank you
Glad you did, and you're right, it's a massive sounding combo! Rock on!
That was a great review, a friend of mine just told me she was giving me one and your vid came up first. Really appreciate your thorough review.
Thank you! It is really a great amp and I have several Roland JC amps and it rivals them. Enjoy your new amp and rock it in good health! 🤟

Awesome! They are great amps and very under-rated. 🤟
@@skrewyu yeah, the later valve states are shit.. these are good

Glad you found a great amp.
Coop video and sound
Have you tried distortions in front if it? I tried a 5150 pedal in the 2000's valvestate and sounds really good
Yes, it rocks with pedals in front of it!
You really need to be in the same room as this amp to truly experience how lush the stereo chorus sounds, but this video does a good job!
Thanks! Yes, it is a great sound, any stereo amp really is, but chorus amps separate the sound so spatially.
Roland Jazz chorus is overrated because of James Hetfield, IMHO this smokes it's balls...don't get me wrong nice amp, this one's better to my ears.
Cool video. I have the same Amp but can’t get a good tone out of it. Is that a Guitar with Humbuckers?
Yes, it's humbuckers in a Gibson ES-335.
Odd. Mine makes a guitar that was humming like hell on my 60s AC30 and 70s JC120 completely hum-free. And it sounds SWEET.

Jake E Lee is "The Man"
love this amp but after not using it for a while has a loud buzz, any clue to what that might be?

@@skrewyu thank u 😊🙌
Might be where it is in the house or the outlet. Sometimes getting a new piece of electronics or appliance can cause noise issues
What was the original make of the 12ax7 used ?
I'm not entirely sure. Marshall branded their logo on other manufacturers.
Jake E Lee! 🤘
got fx loop on it???
Yes.
I saw this am at my local flea market for 250€ not too much information online don't know if it's worth the price
Seems a bit pricey, that is $500 US? If it’s in good shape and operates well it could be worth it.
