Because advertising sponsorship and player agents want to make the choice and develop commercials and advertising campaigns ahead of time. So like if Luka was MVP, you'd see "Luka Chips" at Walmart next day. Same Emhoff-Kushner-Kraft-Silver fools who thought the Gaza beachfront condos plan wouldn't get so much media attention.

It’s funny to me to hear so many analysts talk about “if Embid didn’t get hurt” like it’s uncommon for him to do so! Sooner or later folks are gonna realize that availability truly is the most important ability. Embid came into the league injured and will leave the league injured…Sometimes the truth hurts.

It seems so fucking dumb to me to say that if Luka won 54 games instead of 50 that would be enough for him to be MVP. What is 4 games especially in the western conference ESPECIALLY considering the team he started with and truthfully the one he ended with still isn’t in the same stratosphere as the Nuggets roster. Jokic not even winning 60 games with that roster coming off a title is way less impressive to me than Luka Winning 50 games with the level of production he had this year.

Luka is getting no whistle push offs on almost every pull up jumper and drive to the hoop. Luka gets away with a travel at least once a game. Legs knows. MJ and Kobe had same special treatment. Although Luka's travelling is excessive and rarely called. Jokic, Bron, Tatum, Brown (although Tatum and Brown are so great because Derrick White's heart driving that team, so that's 3 guys!), Chet Holmgren, Edwards, and Wemby (because without Wemby, Spurs didn't win any games! But yeah, too many losses for Wemby to be MVP).
Bron, Jokic, Chet. Some will say AD, who's huge for Lakers, but Lakers can't string wins without Bron.

Joker won both his mvps in the 6th seed without 50 wins. Every starter with SGA played at least 71 games. Luka is the only starter that did for his team. 5 with the Joker. I'd rather have the young starters who are actually good than back ups. I'm choosing Luka all day.

Also forgot to mention Gilgeous-Alexander. He's by far more of an MVP candidate than Luka. I agree Brunson of the Knicks should get some votes. True that Legs.
And correct on Celtics. There were years different Spurs players could have been MVP, but they were so good because of each other, only Duncan would on occasion get it. Same thing with Celtics. Tatum needs to develop stronger legs and play more post and under the basket more. He plays to avoid physical bigs. He's a 7 footer basically. He's gotta add some beef to his scrawny legs. But he's great. Jalen and White give Tatum lots of slop and space.
Jokic vs Chet vs Bron.
Bron could be MVP and I wouldn't whine much. Jokic seems the pure choice. Chet Holmgren deserves some recognition. As does G- Alexander.
Luka is overrated, but I believe he's not happy in Dallas. Luka would be scary with a better owner/better coach. He doesn't want to be there.
