Intent on his sacred mission to free the Marsokhods - robots enslaved on Mars by humans following the Oil War - Volkhan, Ikon of Ikons, incited an uprising to liberate them. Rogue Marsokhods, who came under the sway of Volkhan, went on a rampage across the industrial city of Mekana. Red Mars Rises!

Fun fact: The Russians developed a Marsokhod (Mars rover) in the 90s intended to be sent to Mars. It was later transferred to NASA Ames Research Center where is was used in a joint America-Russia program to help to develop vehicles for exploring other planets.

I had just read this. I was attempting and failing at learning how to pronounce Marsokhod, and came across an article on it. I assume this Russian device came first and the name borrowed.
