And also its advertisement was pretty aggressive and competetive against Nintendo. I remember it saying it does what Ninten-dont. from a couple of its commercials. At least here in america.
Mega Drive is my favorite out of the cast, but I never realized that she actually went through some actual character development. Man, after watching these it just really makes me want a second season.
+DiGi Valentine could you consider doing Ash Ketchum in honor of celebrating the upcoming release of Pokemon Sun and Moon and Pokemon's 20th anniversary?
Thanks DiGi. I needed that episode. Wonderfully executed, as usual. The amount of eye opening you did for some people as well (that Genesis thang) just check the comments... By the way, when the camera paned to the shoes, I was like... sonicsonicsonicsonicSONICCCCC....."...Socks like Sonic..." YES.
Great job! I think the time when MD took the boosters to her skates might be the reference to MD adding additional hardware to it's cartridges and console to keep up.
Once again, just such an awesome video. And with this one, I think I finally want to actually watch it for myself - the other two characters seemed interesting enough, but I'm a sucker for character progression as without it things fizzle out in a show for me, so I'm glad to know I'll find it in Mega Drive. And can I also say one of my favorite things about watching your videos are moments like bringing up the old questionable ads; it's just in the way you do it, I find it so amusing. I really do love watching these and learning about all of these characters I'd just otherwise never know, and I appreciate the way that you talk about them and manage to really say who each one is without getting biased. At least until the end when we find out how much you love them or didn't like them ;) Fantastic video, and totally agree you saved the best for last.
damn this series is very well made. your attitude is very understanding, you take your personal feelings into account(which makes you seem like a sentient being, not just another overly crowd pleasing UA-camr), and you give all the good info I wanted to hear. thanks for the vids and I'll stay tuned.
I think of the jet attachments to her skates are meant to symbolize the several add-ons released for it such as the Sega CD and the 32x, as they were meant to make the out-dated Mega Drive keep up with the competition and make it faster and more powerful. (And of course, just like the jet skates, they ended up failing anyway.)
I like to think that Mega Drive getting the boosters in the Jet Set Radio episode is a subtle reference to the releases of the Sega Mega CD and Megadrive 32X, add ons to try and increase the power of the system.
Damn you Digi You Made Me Love My Genesis again! Now I have to feel it and say did you know that you have a anime self of you out there? Very cute and great video. Don't worry bro your secret is safe with me from Saturn.
If i ever see Mega CD and 32X, im not gonna be surprised if both of them are either Siamese twins or coiled with life support and IV fluids strapped to them. Just like the fucking nerd said.
For me one of the reasons of the competitive side of mega drive may also be linked with sonic who also has a competitive side. But it could also be based of the marketing, I know that it's more a "Genesis" thing but the marketing in america and erope was very in the "I'm challenging you" side for instance in french, the catchphrase of mega drive advertisement was "Sega c'est plus fort que toi" wich litteraly translate to "sega is stronger than you"
Dude! I love your videos! They are so interesting, informative, but still really funny! Keep being awesome! If I may recommend, I would love either Ulala (Space channel 5), Daisy (Mario bros), or rosalina (Mario bros). LOVE YOU DIGI
If I remember, I saw your first two videos on the other Sega Hard girls before watching the show, but it's been a while since then and watching this here, I very much so appreciate what that show was. Short, sweet and full of Sega. Was a good little anime and Mega Drive in no way felt like a third wheel to me. Great breakdown of an enjoyable character and thanks for getting me into the anime itself really.
Since you've covered the main trio of the SEGA Hard Girls, why not check out the Neptunia series? The Seha Girls plus my favorite, Game Gear, are appearing in a crossover game soon, Superdimension Neptune VS SEGA Hard Girls, which was voted best of E3 at one point. Also regarding the shorts, you pulled up an image of the Mega Drive at 4:35, which has the 16-BIT faceplate with a black and white colour scheme like her shorts (which I'm sure everyone agrees with you that they look amazing).
Cristails I just think it could've been a silly nod to their old rivalry. Ever since Sega stopped making consoles, they've been best buddies with Nintendo.
9:50 - 6 Button Controller, Arcade sticks ( _that I hear are fantastic_ ), CD-Drive and 32-bit addon. Shame those things aren't referenced in her outfit.
Love that SoJ's been testing the waters for old franchises and nostalgia these past few years. Recently with the Beat vulcanlog and Ulala figma. Megadrive's probably my favorite of the main three, but that might only be since I can't deal with the basic cute anime girl voice the other two have. ahaaa~ Gimme some media with GameGear, SEGA! ;9
I really enjoyed this, but let me help out a bit to deconstruct her more. Sorry if its long, haha. Firstly, her design is very early-90's in general, the shorts, boots, and long coat were very 90's (albeit from different fashions at the time, and at least in America). So, while greatly inspired by the console itself, it also spoke to the time period. Secondly, the aggressive personality she shows from time to time is attributed to Sega's overly-aggressive marketing campaign. Here in America, Sega was over-the-top with it, and constantly flaming Nintendo. For examples, "Sega does was Nintendon't" was a more famous tag line back in the day, and the official Sega magazine would have segments where people sent in photos of destroyed, or otherwise used improperly, Nintendo consoles. That's all I got! Keep up the good stuff! - Random American who vividly remembers the early-90's console wars. PS: If you want to see another personified Mega Drive, but more inspired by the marketing campaign, you should check out CPU Iris Heart from Hyperdimension Neptunia V (Re;Birth 3). The people behind that series do an extremely good job with their personifications as well.
Hey DiGi! I love your work, I'm a character designer and love watching your break down of various characters. I was wondering if you can do a Who Dat? of the SEGA Hard Girl Game Gear. I've only seen images of her so I'm interested in her character, especially since I had a Sega Game Gear as a kid. Keep up the good work you've got a fan in me
She coloured the landscape with warmth and tranquility And for the first time, I knew the scent of love Bathed in radiant sunlight, nothing could make me fear But that brightness made shadows invisible.
You could have gotten more of them by playing Neptune vs Sega Hard Girls A game with the Sega Hard Girls fighting the Goddesses of Planeptune Neptune vs Saturn Plutia vs Mega Drive And Uzume vs Dreamcast With an extra Sega Hard Girl Game Gear who fights Nepgear , Neptune's sister
I love how you don't overly praise your favorites though I are you favs. you keep it under control and yet make sure we all know you love a certain character
Great video! I didn't even know a show like this existed. I was curious if you could do a Who Dat? on Seth from Under Night In Birth? And if not no problem!
Digi Valentine should cover Sega MasterSystem, Sega Robo Pitcher, Sega Mark III and Mega Drive II (Mega Drive's younger syster) as they have all since appeared in the later extended bonus episode since this video was made and there is more episodes coming.
I love the quality of the show, truly the team working on this do their best. one question, what characters didn't get the Valentine Emblem? I saw you give it to all of them... you don't want an inflation for your seal of approval to happen, do you?
I was almost worried that you would forget about Mega Drive ^^; I´m totaly on the same boat as you, Saturn is my waifu of choice but MegaDrive is something special of her own
I want to get myself a Mega Drive because it has Sanic and Streets of Ragez I like the design of the anthro tho. I'd probs buy a figure of her. I want all regions versions cuz I'm weird like that
Two months later I finally decide to marathon the show and OH boy. I always considered Saturn to be best girl but after that smartphone episode Mega Drive makes me want to buy merch.
Do you think you could do a Who Dat on someone from the Hyper Dimension Neptunia game series? Please? There's a game coming up that also has the Sega Hard Girls in it as well.
I know this is years later ,but I must know where you got those shirts. I'm a big fan of sega consoles and can't believe i've never heard of this. And I'm totally telling Saturn :P
Joshua T I don't know, Genesis sounds an awful lot like a clone console that the people who did Bible Adventures, Noah's Ark 3-D an ect would make/push. But that's streching it way too much
Alfernus the Geek I think it works. Back then, it was supposed to be the beginning of SEGA's new direction towards creating gaming consoles, so "Genesis" holds a much better meaning than "Mega Drive" in that regard.
So, the Sega Hard Girls may have inspired me to come up with OCs called the Nintendo Entertainment Boys, based. The main trio of the Boys are Wii, GameCube, and Nintendo Entertainment System (or NES for short). They serve as friendly rivals and love interests to the Girls (Wii x Dreamcast, GameCube x Saturn, & NES x Mega Drive), and to make them even more of foils to the Japanese-inspired Sega girls, the Nintendo boys are based on the American versions of their respective consoles.
The Wii would be a sociable person that hits the gym very often (because of Wii fitness). The Xbox would be a flamboyant, arrogant, person that isn't too loud or boisterous, and has a very friendly side. (Arrogant because of it's confidence in it's exclusive games) The PlayStation would be a cool, friendly person that isn't selfish, and, obviously, pays homage to Japan. I'm not so sure on how PlayStation would be like because I'm an Xbox player, but that's how I see it.
I think Mega Drive competitive nature comes from the fact that it was one of the first system to coin the term "Console Wars".
agreed
And also its advertisement was pretty aggressive and competetive against Nintendo. I remember it saying it does what Ninten-dont. from a couple of its commercials. At least here in america.
or maybe from it's "blast processing"?
Lol that too.
Genesis is a different character to Mega Drive
Won't tell Saturn a thing! XD Great work as always DiGi, really enjoyed this one!
My waifu has blast processing.

Absolutely wonderful
Mega Drive is my favorite out of the cast, but I never realized that she actually went through some actual character development.
Man, after watching these it just really makes me want a second season.
I was planning to put a “hard” joke here but even I have to admit they nailed their personalities in terms of their irl lifespan.
Keep up the good work DiGi been a massive fan of your work for quite some time, keep it up dude!
Heeey! I had no idea you watched this show! Thank you, man. It's greatly appreciated. Cheers! :)
+DiGi Valentine could you do silver the hedgehog next he is a good character with a bad rep cause of sonic 06 and doesn't deserve it
+DiGi Valentine could you consider doing Ash Ketchum in honor of celebrating the upcoming release of Pokemon Sun and Moon and Pokemon's 20th anniversary?
yes do silver pleases
She should have had add ons referencing the 32X and Sega CD which should have boosted her abilities closer to the other girls.
When you said "Genesis" I was like "Ooooooh, that's what it is!!! No wonder I didn't know what a "Mega Drive" was!"
I'm wondering if he's ever going to do Neptunia characters.
Same
I'd love one on Noire miss Playstation goddess herself
Thanks DiGi. I needed that episode. Wonderfully executed, as usual. The amount of eye opening you did for some people as well (that Genesis thang) just check the comments... By the way, when the camera paned to the shoes, I was like... sonicsonicsonicsonicSONICCCCC....."...Socks like Sonic..." YES.

Westaboo
Westernabloo
Reverse weeaboo
+Perfect Shadic
Beeawoo
Japerican
Great job!
I think the time when MD took the boosters to her skates might be the reference to MD adding additional hardware to it's cartridges and console to keep up.
Watched the entire series in honor of the final Sega Hard Girls!!! Kudos good sir!
You finally got to my favorite Sega Hard Girl, yay! ❤️
Hey, fancy seeing you here!

That actually makes a lot of sense.
1:56 the reason being to avoid lawsuits. Haha, that's America I guess =X.
Man, I've been waiting for this one. Best girl from Sega Hard Girls confirmed, no doubt.
I like to think that Mega Drive getting the boosters in the Jet Set Radio episode is a subtle reference to the releases of the Sega Mega CD and Megadrive 32X, add ons to try and increase the power of the system.
Dannyvegas1701 Google for more Sega Hard Girls and you will find the 32x, Mega CD and many more.
Now if only there were Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo versions... 😕
Damn you Digi You Made Me Love My Genesis again! Now I have to feel it and say did you know that you have a anime self of you out there? Very cute and great video. Don't worry bro your secret is safe with me from Saturn.
I WAS WAITING FOR SO LONG!!!!! LOVE THIS CHANNEL!!!
Man. I wish you had a team, because I would love to see more of these from multiple series!
This is really well done! Keep it up!
If they make a new season of Sega hard girls, they better give mega drive 2 sisters: Mega CD and 32X.
I'd like to see a Nintendo version of this, followed by " _the lonely few_ " which would be PC Engine, Neo Geo, and those.
Hans Weiss
Those characters already exist in other media
If i ever see Mega CD and 32X, im not gonna be surprised if both of them are either Siamese twins or coiled with life support and IV fluids strapped to them. Just like the fucking nerd said.

Good to see another episode after so long. It's a shame I couldn't get into SeHa Girls though.
Ive been waiting for this, thanks dude.
New DiGi on my birthday! Solid present init!
Cheers Digi. Been waitin on this episode.

I'm kinda surprised Digi never directly mentioned the SNES in this episode. I wonder if there are any subtle references to it in the anime.
i don't think that is needed, sega did a lot of stuff on their own, consoles, not to mention all their mastery on arcades
Cristails I just think it could've been a silly nod to their old rivalry. Ever since Sega stopped making consoles, they've been best buddies with Nintendo.
I Been waiting for this :D my god im so excited to watch it, so anyway keep it up digi :D
2:26 That's not stereotypic; that's America!
Great ep.
9:50 - 6 Button Controller, Arcade sticks ( _that I hear are fantastic_ ), CD-Drive and 32-bit addon. Shame those things aren't referenced in her outfit.
This is a fantastic series, man! Keep up the good work!
I can't be the only one who gets a RWBY vibe from the animation right?
Well, is RWBY animated with MikuMikuDance? In that case it's not surprising.
+King Harkinian I think they changed animation software for RWBY volume 4.
+Eq_NightGlider_ I think they used the same animation tool for all the volumes, but it's most definitely not MikuMiku Dance
+Asian SWEG they use Poser Pro
Eq_NightGlider_ So I guess it's just coincidence that they look similar.
Love that SoJ's been testing the waters for old franchises and nostalgia these past few years. Recently with the Beat vulcanlog and Ulala figma.
Megadrive's probably my favorite of the main three, but that might only be since I can't deal with the basic cute anime girl voice the other two have. ahaaa~

Another Great Episode DiGi!
The Genesis would have been an amazing character.
NEVER STOP DOING THIS SERIES. PLEEEEASE.
anyone else think her 16-BITpedia is a reference to the Mega-Drive's huge library of games? Get it? Library? She's a bookworm?
congrats on getting near 30,000 subscribers.
after watching this i watched sega hard girls and loved it. would of liked to see them go into the world of NiGHTS or streets of rage though.
if they ever have a sequal series they might do that
Dank video as always Valentine!
Now I want to see a fanfiction where DiGi gets kicked out of Sega Saturn's house...
Amazing video, DiGi!
do Segami from the Neptunia vs Sega Hard Girls game
Cool video dude I watch it only because of sega HARD girls.
You pay attention to small details good job.
i enjoyed this thanks!
I always watch 100% of the video because I love the intro and the song on that plays on the end card.
Finally, been waiting for this'n!
Nice to see you back.
Soooo, its Sonics 25th anaversery, are u gonna make one about the main man himself?

I GOT ONE QUESTION FOR YOU
WHAT ARE THOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!*
Where's game gear?!
Nobody liked Game Gear.
Cybresamurai A where's master system
What about Nomad?
Digi Valentine should cover Sega MasterSystem, Sega Robo Pitcher, Sega Mark III and Mega Drive II (Mega Drive's younger syster) as they have all since appeared in the later extended bonus episode since this video was made and there is more episodes coming.
Final Tuned are you sure?
I love the quality of the show, truly the team working on this do their best. one question, what characters didn't get the Valentine Emblem? I saw you give it to all of them... you don't want an inflation for your seal of approval to happen, do you?
Can we get a Cammy White who dat?
I was almost worried that you would forget about Mega Drive ^^;
I´m totaly on the same boat as you, Saturn is my waifu of choice but MegaDrive is something special of her own
Oh, I've waited on this one forever!
Nice to see ya back. :)
I want to get myself a Mega Drive because it has Sanic and Streets of Ragez I like the design of the anthro tho. I'd probs buy a figure of her. I want all regions versions cuz I'm weird like that
Man im glad they showed up in the Neptunia crossover game, also i'm saddened the shirts aren't on sale anymore :/
@DiGi Valentine you are awesome
I guarantee you that the competitive nature is a reference to the console wars of the 90s.
Two months later I finally decide to marathon the show and OH boy. I always considered Saturn to be best girl but after that smartphone episode Mega Drive makes me want to buy merch.

You're my new favorite UA-camr
Why is there no Sega Nomad Hard Girl?! There is even a VMU (from Dreamcast) Hard Girl!
If I ever make videos I want them to be like this.
Oh, I had no idea the Mega Drive was called the Genesis in America, because no one ever says that, ever.
I'm the exact opposite, lol.
Well, you haven't missed much since.
Mega Drive is the better name
+Alfernus the Geek Debatable.

Seriously how have you not have fuck lot of subscribers???? This series is awesome
can you do one on the wretched egg?
You hit him before he said "Ready, Go"
We don't have time to waste. LOL
I've bin excited for this one.
Genesis was also named Mega Drive here in Brazil.
Just sayin'
Ah yes the system to hold the classic sonics and a forgotten masterpiece known as ristar
Would you be able to do a Who Dat? For Undertale's CHARA?
The Best Girl of this Great show & the Holy Trinity is now complete!
Are you going to do a Who Dat? episode about Cammy?
That'd be great. :)
You didn't talk about her little sis
YOOO YOU DID HER, THANKS!!
i reallllly want to hear the intro music pllllllz release that
would you ever consider doing the characters from freedom planet ?
So, the Sega Hard Girls may have inspired me to come up with OCs called the Nintendo Entertainment Boys, based. Could you do a Who Dat? on Zangief from Street Fighter?
Hey DiGi, good episode. I was wondering, do you take requests?
Nice! Kinda makes you wonder what the Wii, Playstation and X Box would look like as characters along these lines..
The Wii would be a sociable person that hits the gym very often (because of Wii fitness).
The Xbox would be a flamboyant, arrogant, person that isn't too loud or boisterous, and has a very friendly side. (Arrogant because of it's confidence in it's exclusive games)
The PlayStation would be a cool, friendly person that isn't selfish, and, obviously, pays homage to Japan.
I'm not so sure on how PlayStation would be like because I'm an Xbox player, but that's how I see it.
please refer to Hyperdimension Neptunia!
