When it comes to Sanji people usually bring Zoro in unnecessarily to excuse his abysmal treatment post timeskip. they say things like "You guys just want Sanji to be Zoro" but this isn't true. If I wanted that I would just be a Zoro fan. The only thing I want is for Sanji to be like shown like his pre timeskip self.
@@MrPremps Yes, but not in a satisfying way like pre-timeskip. His gag is one thing not really a problem but the problem is he gets put into bad situations way too often. Pre timeskip those bad situation were in between shining moment like saving the crew in Enies Lobby, Mr. Prince, Sabotaging Eneru, boarding the sea train, and he would actually not get shit on in fights some times. Now we have to consistently have him throw away his coolness and pride multiple times and the only payoff is him baking cake and offscreen wins. There also the problem of Sanji needing help to get out of situation that if were being real he can escape from himself but has been nerfed by plot to need other peoples help.

After doing my own personal research into this ive come to this conclusion. Its not that people hate post time skip Sanji for his character or personality but really just the situations Oda puts him in. Because when you look back through pre time skip one piece and Post time skip, Sanji's personality and roles in the story haven't changed. He's gotten some development (as shown in chapter 1005) but he is still relatively the same person. However in the post time skip Sanji has been put in a lot of situations where he takes L's. And in pre time skip he took his fair share of L's but they were balanced out with wins such as his fights and cool moments. Sanji has had a decent amount of cool moments but the problem is that he hasnt gotten those wins in fights. Hes had a similar amount of fights in Post T.S as he did in Pre T.S but those fights have either been inconclusive or losses. And because of that the balance of wins and losses has tipped. And let's be fair most of the straw hats havent gotten a lot of fights with the exception of Luffy, but its even more prevalent for Sanji because he relies on that balance. In summary, I dont think people hate Sanji's character (if they have always hated him then that's fine but I'm talking about the people who loved him pre time skip but hate him post time skip), but rather they hate that Sanji doesn't get that balance of wins and losses. However I do think that we've hit the point where that should change. Every straw hat is going to get a fight on Onigashima and whether it turns out to be Queen or Jack it doesnt matter Sanji will win and we will see the steps being made to fix that balance.
i never realy liked sanji, he is my 7th fave strawhat. but Sanji growed alot in wholecake arc. now sanji is a wiser, more mature character in onigashima... back then, sanji is a lone wolf of straw hat. always wandering alone, and always be the one who saves other stawhats. most intelegent of his group NEVER ASKED FOR HELP might never realy trust other strawhat (keeping his identity issues alone) almost died taking on califa alone and forced himself to be out of comission for some time and only able to recover by the luck of faling bathtub in enies lobby. (now that's how to look weak) without luffy saving his ass he surely would die in wholecake island. but now sanji is stronger than ever!! tanking king and black maria with ease confirmed to have a better range of observation haki than luffy and jinbe. and most importantly he is now able to RELY ON HIS NAKAMA... now thats a STRAWHAT! while zoro is stronger, he never realy grows as a character (already maxed at baratie) he jumped to my 3rd fave strawhats now about Sanji's upbringing.... its 1000 chapter already, do we still need to talk about this? he is confirmed to be the kindest and most sincere strawhat. and it has a realy bad side, that now he's able to handle by relying on others. (this should be a celebration of sanji's character) while the good side that no one realy taked about is more powerful. with his upbringing he continues to won many women's heart. (Violet, Pudding, and now Black Maria's subordinates) i wish in the future i could sincerely mistook my wife as a Godess like that sanji nami scene in Zou (anime only?)
