I ❤your channel. My fifteen year old Shiba Inu is having eye problems. Her vet didn’t prescribe anything, but wanted me to take her in to a specialist. The specialist wanted me to prepay for the appointment around 3 months in advance without a care in the world about her condition. When I questioned this office policy: they wouldn’t allow her to have an appointment at all. If I’m going to prepay ($180.00) an appointment, it should be granted within a reasonable amount of time. What a money grab 💰

I hate all medical field tyrants. My dog was bleeding from her butt, mucus too. She most likely had gastroenteritis from traveling, stresses her out. Called 15 Vets within 2hr distance & none would see her, some because Vet was at conference or something. But the one literally about 4 doors down, & why I bought a house there with our 60 animals, was easy Vet access, so that was 1st place to go. First thing...Is she fully vaxed? Maybe. Had to vax 2 of them several yrs before that caused autoimmune response in my other love & he died like 4yrs prior. Anyway, I told her I usually try to treat our animals at home because we have so many but I wasn't home. Girl says well then we can't see her. I said I haven't tried to treat her. She said doesn't matter. So, they rather let her die than treat her. 🤬 I probably could've given her pepto to start, but I didn't know. Also, there is human pepto & animal pepto (They changed ingredients.), both work but animal one safer i guess. Instead, I called my doc to give me med to give her. Same med, different dosage. Anyway, it's been 5yrs since & we never moved. The Vets in my area are understanding. They still will rip us off, kill our animals because of incompetence, but they don't push vaxes except for rabies & ok if we treat ourselves.

@@fionaforbes6100 I started her green tea compresses (thank you). In the past I’ve been putting a pinch of baking soda into warm water and doing compresses. I’ve been using GenTeal eye drops. the one eye turned from blue to brown ~ then to green & back to brown. Over here in Massachusetts (I have found) a condescending attitude towards pet owners. The vets act like you are a bad pet owner if you do not go through thousands of dollars of diagnostics over a simple problem like arthritis. My dog gets acupuncture and laser therapy for her arthritis, but I hope some of the suggestions in this video will help.

Even though most of these comments are directed toward dogs and cats, I thought I'd share my experience. I had a guinea pig who had a torn cornea. Awful to see! Practically detached from his eyeball. 😬 I couldn't afford a vet so I self treated, hoping for the best: drops of colloidal silver, 10 ppm, 3X day. He was such a trouper...barely flinched. He was COMPLETELY HEALED in a week! Just fyi peeps! 😊

My dog ended up with some sort of eye infection after he was rolling in the dirt one time.
The doc gave us some antibiotic drops which we used as directed for 5 days and it actually just got worse.
I then started to treat him with my colloidal silver twice a day and by the next day it was already better, and by day 3 it was completely cleared up.
We kept him on it for 2 more days just to make sure it was all cleared up and he was fine.
I am really losing faith in our veterinary community so you have been a breath of fresh air for me for years.
    Thank you!❤

Took my old dog to the vet for a cough, snotty nose, and mucus in her eyes. Vet prescribed a drug with a LOOOOOONG list of side effects. I opted to give her guaifenesin. She's about 45 lb. I've been giving her 400 mg in the morning and pm. The cough has subsided, but still seeing mucus in her eyes and thick mucus strands she's blowing out of her nose. Using green tea with honey for eye drops, and adding it to her food, too. Simple is better, safer, and more effective.

Here in Turkiye, with so many stray cats and dogs, not enough municipal veterlnary support and a horrible economy, us animal lovers are at a tricky spot. Take these cats to a private vet and be charged lots for necessary/unneccesary treatments or try to solve things ourselves out on the streets. I can therefore confirm that the warm compress, saline wash and black/green tea flushes really work. And L-Lysine, such an amazing supplement! Thank you as always for these important informative videos.

Number 1: ALOE VERA JUICE DIRECT FROM THE PLANT. All homes should have Aloe Vera plants growing as they have many awesome medicinal uses. Using as eye drops is one. Cures conjunctivitis fast. I will use it a few times a day for a couple of days, just to make sure the infection is gone. It's also good for scratches on the eyeball, corneal ulcers and sore dry eyes. AWESOME for use in humans also. It is gentle and soothing, antiseptic and regenerating (speeds up healing). Also good for cuts, grazes and burns, as well as a reversing gingivitis and healing mouth infections. It's AWESOME! For use in eyeballs - break off a thin, juicy aloe leaf, hold open the eye, squeeze the juice directly into the eye. Alternatively, split open the leaf, hold open the eye and gently rub the inside, fleshy part of the leaf across the eye, being careful not to make contact with the outside part, which would be scratchy. It does not sting. It does heal! Big time! God is great in his amazing creation🙏!

So pleased you mentioned honey. I use it for my own eyes as I get Blepharitis. I had a really bad case and got given steroid drops by 2 different Opthalmologists, which can only be used for 2 weeks as it can cause ulcers or Glaucoma. The iritation when using it is caused because the PH level of honey is different to your eye. Clears up quick and is ok for humans, but if well diluted I can’t see it causing distress. I was using neat honey and applying it to my eyes with a Q tip bud. It can also be applied to eye styes, and it helps get rid of them. I got told this by an Indian care worker (it is an Ayurvedic treatment) at my Mum’s care home as he could see the state my eyes were in. It doesn’t need to be expensive honey either and it definitely works!

Thank you Dr Jones! Using colloidal silver as a drop works especially well. You mentioned people talking about Argyria, but studies (Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System, Center for Food Safety) have shown that, in order for Argyria to even be a possibility, the 'patient' has had to use chronically for years (median use 2 years). Also, that cases of Argyria have been found in those people using home made colloidals, ie. 'moonshine silver'. Using silver is safe and very, very effective. I have used it to treat family and fur family over the decades, without any issues. But I don't make it myself. 🤗

Hi! I just found your site! I have an Old Shitzu name of Niko. He is a Lovely Boy who was Rescued from a Kill Shelter in Alabama and Lives with his Dad and I on Cape Cod. He has a fenced - in yard, and Loves to go for Rides in the Car. He was the younger member of a “Bonded Pair” and both dogs were on Death Row when they were rescued.
Niko was 8yo and his bonded mate was 10yo when they came to me. Niko had a hot spot on his side when I got him home and I put some Neosporin on it and placed an Elizabethan Collar on him as he wouldn’t leave it alone.
I had a dog Maximus I owned since he was a Pup who had lost his Mate to Age and got the new dogs to Rescue Them and Save Max’s Life as he “Shut Down” without his Deceased Mate!
Things went well at first - and stayed well for about 6 months. All dogs were good and seemed very happy; when Niko bit me when I was grooming him! I stopped and corrected him and life went on until he did it again when I was cleaning his eyes. I began keeping my distance from him and he bonded very strongly to my husband James, but about 2 months later he bit him, too!
As all 3 dogs were males - there were pecking order issues (particularly at mealtimes). Needless to say, Niko got a Lot Worse and Bullied the other 2 dogs. We Loved Niko and didn’t give him up as we didn’t know what he had been through in his earlier life. We DID know his Right Eye had been punctured when he was 6 and he needed surgery to save it! Also he had to have a Pedunculated Growth removed from his Right Eye when he was 10.
The other 2 dogs have passed and Niko is 13yo with Chronic Eye Issues and has. Chronic Infection in his Left Ear. He has been getting drops in both eyes and ears BUT my husband has gotten terrible Arthritis and I have it bad, too.
In order to medicate Niko James has to put on HEAVY Leather Gloves and pin him down from behind as I put the drops in all necessary areas! To do this I wear Leather Gloves as well. These gloves help BUT he still bites us HARD through the gloves and breaks skin and draws blood! He has bitten Nurse’s Aides who come to the house to shower me as I am Quite Disabled.
He has started to bite his groomer and This is a Real Problem!😢
I beg you, Doctor - are there any Holds we can put Niko in so that he can’t Bite us? He is still Very Fast and makes a Fearsome Sound when he’s Angry! We are getting desperate!!! Thank You - Kathleen

You have to have two cotton wool balls or bits of gauze so you don't cross contaminate the individual eyes. Ideally you should wash your hands thoroughly before starting on the second eye. I have used the saline compress and solution to great effect in myself, horses and just about every domestic or local wildlife you can think of (foxes, feral cats, pigeons etc). It nearly always gives some relief and can put it (conjunctivitis) away entirely. I tend to look for natural remedies for every day things and use plants and foodstuffs to support immune response in all the animals who come into my sphere of influence. Obviously I do get help from certain animal charities to treat things like mange and any injuries that would require veterinary care. They will supply cage traps to take any really sickly animals to their facilities. Over the years I've built up a good relationship with them and supply photos to get the appropriate mange meds (Ivermectin etc) sent to me for use with the foxes. At present I have a pair of seemingly bonded youngsters who I have successfully treated since December and both have got rid of the awful crusty eyes, and bald patches and are looking like beautiful, healthy young foxes now (well Babyvee, the vixen, is slightly behind as I initially thought I had one mange stricken youngster but it was 2 on closer inspection. They come together now for food etc. and the male is looking amazing with Babyvee coming along very nicely too. I downloaded your book and subscribed to yournewsletter, its really good and will perfectly compliment my books on herbal medicines. Thank you❤

I am so incredibly grateful for your channel, Dr. Jones! I have been wondering what to do about my dog’s eye for a long time now! I try to remove any debris (like hair) that gets in it, but I’m definitely going to try this! Question… can I use Refresh Mega eye drops for my dog? Those are the ones I use for my dry eyes and in my opinion, it’s the best drops for human dry eye and I have tried so many!

I have a 1 year old white and orange striped tabby and the day I offered to foster him and his brother they were both given to me sickly with no vet medication until I mentioned it. I was told I wouldn’t have to come outta pocket to help this program foster out kittens well that’s not how it happened. I had to take this little guy to the emergency vets at 3 am because I was completely unaware that eyes issues aren’t a real cause for concern to most vet offices they literally has a list of things they dem or concerning than other but I guess losing your sense of sight isn’t not on the top priority for them. I was very upset to learn that and then they smacked me with a 300 vet bill. I had to drive to that emergency vet off which was 3 hours from me.. at 3 am with a hurting bloody eye at the time wasn’t ideal. I have a huge heart and at that moment I couldn’t stand the idea of giving him or is brother to anyone else. Especially having to pay for his vetting before adopting him and his brother. ANYWAY I still had to take him in another time for the same medication each vet prescribed for him. He still has a leaky and puff eye. I do everything I can to easy his discomfort. I just want to be certain if I buy this product that it won’t cause him any more harm. Please someone help me and my poor fur babies!!!

What do peopme feel about trying a drop of the colloidal silver in each eye. Just as a treatment to ensure there's nothing- with no observed symptoms of an infection. Not suggesting an on-going maintenance- but I'm curious as my elder dog may benefit from a drop each just too see if that cleans up the minor eye gunk.

We have an ongoing problem with our shih tzu who is getting bacterial infections from moisture in her nasal fold/skin fold between her nose and eyes.
She has been on prescription drops, ointments, numerous rounds of Cefpodoxime. The ophthalmologist wanted her to go on a regimen of tacrolimus drops but I didnt feel comfortable with that approach.
So as of right now we are using chlorhexidine wipes from the regular vet twice per week. Strange this became such a persistent problem for her all of a sudden at 10 years of age..

I have a question: Could you put a link here to one of your videos if you have one discussing human foods that can be fed to cats that have had bladder crystals alongside the urinary tract cat food? I have to take my 3 yr old "Thing 1" to the doctor this next Wednesday and she has already had an ultrasound months back finding bladder sediment. She NOW has issues with her rectum coming out of her. I am TERRIFIED she is going to get an infection.

I have a cat who had to go under surgery for a clear out of his Urethra He's acting fine and everything, but right now. It seems like whenever he's in a warm space, he's peeing is that ok? And also the back of his legs are covered in cat. Litter from probably his pee. And I know that we have to make sure he doesn't get infected again. I was thinking that maybe a warm bath could help loosen some things and keep him clean. I can't reach my vet rn so I need some help...
