Apparently, there are just as many wackos in the future as there were in 1956. It's May 2103, and Elwood Casswell admits he's a homicidal maniac with a gun in his pocket. Fortunately, times have advanced. You can go to the local hardware store and buy a psychiatrist robot. Unfortunately for old Elwood, he buys the floor model which is meant for psychotic Martians. The machine uses Martian terms and language to cure Elwood but for the psychological problems of Martians. A concept similar to Robert Sheckley's "The Lifeboat Mutiny", except in a much more serious tone. (from "The Critical X Minus One" by Jim Fanisher)
Credits (Goldin): Joseph Julian, Steve Allen (American Cancer Society fund appeal), Bill Britton, Norman Rose, Finn O'Donovan (author, Robert Scheckley), William Griffis, George Lefferts (adaptor), William Welch (producer), Bob Mauer (director), Fred Collins (announcer), Karl Weber (narrator), Allan Mason, Charles Webster, Clifford Carpenter, Joseph Sullivan
"A million could be years on a thousand maybe worlds." They were really ahead of their times.......A lot of these stories still stand up today
SciFi with a touch of humor-classic radio!
Another "lost " one found , to enjoy .
Thankyou 👍🙂
Imagine walking around the street with $500 cash in the 50s, when you could buy candy for one cent.
Only 1 Magnussen in Manhattan?
There are five gorisees....
Yes, but only one that nourishes you into puberty.
"Finn O'Donovan" is a pseudonym--the real name of the author of this wee gem is the great Robert Sheckley.
As it says in parentheses
@@OTRR Ah, my oversight. Now I look like some kinda smart-ass know-it-all, rather than a devotee of a fine writer and satirist.
