I think sometimes people forget that Hinata is a social butterfly. He gets along with people. There is hardly someone he REALLY doesnt get along with or can not work with (i mean look at him making friends with opposing teammembers left and right). Its shown that he also gets along with his classmates and is friends with them. But Kageyama isnt just a friend. He really thought Kageyama and him could be... Partners on the court. Hinata is the epitome of an extrovert. I think it was by the end of the 3rd season, we see him surrounded by a bunch of his classmates. He's one of those 'popular' kids in school. In contrast, Kageyama is the total opposite. He's definitely an introvert, and there are many scenes where he's struggling to communicate effectively with the member from other teams. You don't really see him with a mass group of people. I think you guys are right. Hinata is starting to yearn for improvement, getting 'greedy', since he realizes that he's not much of an asset to the team without Kageyama. So in order to be self-sufficient, he needs to improve, to 'evolve' and fail a lot. Kageyama, who may be slightly more trusting of his teammates is still unwilling to change what has worked so far. Plus he doesn't yet understand drawing out 100% of his teammate's potential like what Oikawa does.
Also kageyama is scared the balance of the team is gonna break, he doesn’t want to experience what happened in middle school again. They have both valid arguments
@@vitaaeris True, plus Hinata could've focused on becoming better at other aspects of the game like Kags said. If he did he'd probably be more like (spoiler character) hoshiumi.
Alan Pangilinan I think yes and no. After all we saw in the manga how long it took for him to masterize receiving, it is probably not something he could have worked out in a summer. Hoshiumi had 3 years of “ball boy” arc in middle school, currently (in high school) has a professional coach + he’s at his second year. Hinata couldn’t become like that out of the sudden. And even if wanting to work on an already incredible move like the freak quick was a risky move it made sense for him to want to do that. First of all because he wasn’t interested in learning other basics back then (he later decides that he wants to be able to do everything) and also because the freak quick IS the reason he has a spot on the court. Take that away and there’s no need for him to stay playing. Ofc he cant let that go, not yet. He’s improving his attacks now to stay on the court, because if his quick is not useful he’ll get subbed out by another middle blocker who probably has better basics, and then later he’ll grow to be a good player by himself without kageyama. It’s just a long process.
It was really cute when Lupa was freaking out and telling them to stop fighting when it got serious 😂 I'm glad they felt the emotion from the scene tho. Some people just laugh
Greed is one of the best episodes of the whole show, which is hard to do when almost every episode is top tier. But it encapsulates that drive and need to get better not just for self satisfaction, but for others around you. Hinata even tells Kageyama that his sets are perfect showing that he, as you said, knows he is the one holding the team AND Kageyama back.
I've always thought Hinata meant something more on the line of "how exactly am I supposed to practice and improve if my setters won't give me a chance"
What hit hard for me is that Hinata sees Kageyama more than a friend, he is his partner- which was something Hinata never had in his old team because he literally had no official team at all. So their partnership meant a lot to him as a player.
This is one of my favorite character development of hinata and kageyama, when they need to fall apart to be stronger with each other. THE POWER OF TRUST AMD FRIENDSHIP. and not to mention this is also one of the best arc in haikyuu.
Hinata's the one thinking like a true athlete here, and Kageyama is wrong. When you get to a point where you're giving your best, and your best isn't good enough, you have to evolve. And a practice match is exactly the place to be doing that. Look at what Lebron did adding an outside shot to his arsenal after the Mavs kept him out of the paint for an entire Finals. That's what sets apart champions from contenders.
@@Bruh-mg5ff oh my god i finally found a reasonable comment that doesn't bash kageyama for his decision. you're precisely right, i personally think they're both not wrong. but it's so unfair to praise selfish thoughts to hell at a time where you simply just can't. it's an important practice match and tourney is around the corner. use this time you have to sharpen your tools. even with the short little practice they had trying out the new move, it didn't work and there was no progress. take your time with such things but hinata never once stood still and thought of the process to get there. i think it's really unfair to write off the team as unfair because hinata's not 100% right here at all.
