What a weird coincidence... been a huge Katatonia fan since I first heard their Great Cold Distance album 5 years ago... a couple of weeks ago during my black metal journey I started listening to Primordial and fell in love with some of the songs. Two of my favorite vocalists in metal so far. Great talk definitely going to watch more.
Absolute great interview. Sometimes I wish he would of let Jonas talk alittle more uninterrupted but super solid job. I literally watched non-stop from beginning to end. Allen Averill, you gotta jump on the train on Katatonia’s newer Album’s from The Great Cold Distance to now. Absolutely, break-the-mold masterpieces. But great job on keeping it interesting for so long. Jonas.. you’re the man brother. Best singer in the History of Rock/Metal.
Drummer from N.Ireland here. Watching this for the second time. Listened to the podcast version a couple of times travelling back and forth over the border doing wedding gigs (gave up the rock n roll dream and sold my sold for covers and money😂) but this is a great listen. Great to hear Jonas in long form, and great questions but comes across as a chat amongst friends. Would love to see him back for another chat. Can’t wait to see them in Dublin in Nov🍺🖤
What I appreciate about these conversations is the fact that we can see and listen to a person, not a stage image, but a real human being with similar experiences, everyday life pros and cons, inner Universe, thousands of thoughts. I’m always impressed. The Great Agitator knows how to dig in deep and engage interlocutor into a dialogue, not just QandA set. This conversation got my totally. Waking up before 6am my CDT zone and listening while getting stuff ready for work, is my usual Friday morning ritual. Everything coming from my beloved Sweden 🇸🇪 always makes my a happy camper.
Fascinating conversation! Totally agree with Jonas, the first time I saw Katatonia live I was captivated and HAD to find out more about the band. They made that imprint on me and completely hooked me!
Scarlett Heavens is one of my favorite songs of all time, I searched A LOT about who sings who does what on that song because there is literally no info online. And I don't have the official booklet, I don't know if it exists I was 5 years old or something back then. Now I have the official info from Jonas. Thanks!
Awesome interview with Jonas! Love to hear him speak about Katatonia, and music in general. I loved hearing him laugh here and there. What a beautiful voice, person and mind 🖤 Thanks Jonas (and Anders) for creating magic for us through the form of music ♥️
Haha love it. I think katatonia is a huge diamond that keeps polishing every album. I grew up listening all this and seen well hearing the other side of is nice. If that farm comes true sign me in as costumer lol
Tiamat is a great band, Im glad you brought them up, They were doing that prog+metal thing that several bands were later recognized for, like Opeth and Katatonia, but somehow were always put on the "gothic metal" box and never marketed with those other bands. I wish you could invite Johan Edlund to a chat.
I know Jonas said he never got the growl back, and maybe it was a fluke, but on the Black Sessions live DVD when they played Murder he sounded really good. Like as good as he did on the first October Tide album
it's hard when you no longer rehearse or practise that voice, it kinda disappears a bit, certainly my 'black metal' voice is not what it used to be when I was using it every week rehearsing
Whenever you mention The Ruins of Beverast in your podcast, I really wish you could have Alexander for interview. This was another great episode, thank you!
I had not listened to Katatonia much for years now, so this video re sparked my interest, and I picked up 2 albums that I didn't have, yesterday. So, good on you for that.
Jaysus, I wish my grandparents were alive so I could go and see them. It wouldnt be any sort of an effort / not giving a shit scenario in all fairness. Could have made a more suitable reference in this case I think!! He is right tho, as you get alot older, you give alot less fucks about stuff you cared about in years previous, in my case vinyl, tapes, music collecting n shit. Early Katatonia is untouchable and the demo is definately Top 5. Decent Interview. Cheers
Jonas is one of those whom always a pleasure to hear. He is a very nice, calm and interesting person. Thanks for another one good chat!

Amazing interview Alan. Much respect to Katatonia and Primordial

The song that Jonas mentioned it's called Vakaren.
Excellent interview. Great to hear info about the early days. Gonna pop on my Saw You Drown ep.
Damn!! Cancelling plans and waiting, red wine in hand. Stocked for this!

Thanks for this!!! You guys are both so inspiring. Cheers from Hungary x
I would love to see you interview Steve Von Till from Neurosis!!

These chats are unmissable, another intriguing convo here with Jonas, fair play Alan.

it's a great idea.....I'm a huge Tiamat fan! I'm not sure if he does things like Zoom chats though
Jonas you bloody legend

Yea and the rehearsal 92 re-recording called A Sunset Choir for the Daylight Harvest had amazing vocals also
Whenever you mention The Ruins of Beverast in your podcast, I really wish you could have Alexander for interview. This was another great episode, thank you!
it's been discussed.......Alex is a rare bird to see in the wild :)
Super! Great chat 🤘🏻
Great interview!

What albums did you bought bro?
@@VulgrimOfficial Hi! I believe I picked up night is the new day, and dethroned & uncrowned. I enjoyed both!
Awesome! Cant wait for this one!
God the things I would do to see those scattered pieces of paper that Jonas used to write on ✍️ 😅
Great conversation, I always enjoy these talks.
Praying these guys come back to the US again.. Preferably in Massachusetts again.
Jonas and Anders are stuck with each other forever because if one leaves it’s over katatonia is the best
Now Alan [under pressure] Averill looks like Neil Peart ahah!
Any chance for one of the Moonsorrow Sorvali cousins to come on?
good question.....
Nice band Katatonia
I think Jonas sounds like Morten from A-ha
Nice 1h monologue by Alan :)
at least I'm consistent :)
Metal Blade could not add discount code ALAN
Really? Ok apologies......i must recheck that!!
try AAPODCAST

Oh damn favorite band and favorite podcaster in one go!
So I aint your favourite singer :)
Right? Similar thoughts here
Long live Desolator, Primordial & Katatonia!
Fuck you, Jonas! "Day" sounded amazing. :P
The Interviewer should do an interview with himself....he seems to have a great desire to talk about himself.
Agreed
Jesus.. this guy is sick 😡
Its his podcast man.Its just a conversation.
one of us talks a lot.....one of us talks less......the rest as they say is history :)
