    This unit sells under different brands. I have a similar one with pc control over usb since about 3 years and I am totally happy with it. It does its job. Only the rotary encoder needs a bit of cleaning from time to time otherwise it missinterprets pulses. There were some early units that had a fault (Dave jones made a video about it) but this was several years ago and never happened again. Totally fine unit for the price with a great adjustable precision and functions like OCP where other brands sell for 5 times of the price. Also the ripple is not too bad even under load.

      I am thinking to buy it under Korad Brand. Wondering how good have been yours at this point of use. I'll be using it a lot for cellphones repair, finding shortcut in cellphones PCB.

      Ed Diaz until now it’s working still fine. Allthough I don’t use it as much as a few years ago now that I have a family and kids.

      @@Hasitier Great! An Australian guy made a review, I was initially with doubts, but many good opinions made me decided, this will be my next PSU. Thanks.

    Thanks for a good initial test video. Thanks.
    Look on the box, a proper CE mark.
    (and the power cord can be changed to another device cord, as the connection in the power supply are a standard one)
    (Voltage are always a capital V, and current is always A. As milli ampere is mA. Just a comment about your scrolling text in 5:30)

    Just got a new one of these, and the memory keeps getting overwritten without holding the button. So as soon as you select a memory position, it keeps saving whatever you're doing. Nuts!

      Long time since I did this review - have you thought of contacting the manufacturer - Korad? I'll grant you, taking a quick look for you I cannot now find their website.... last time I checked (I'm not in the sme country as the supply right now) mine was working a treat.

      @@PeterScargill Haven't found their contact either yet but it seems that's how all of these work. Or do you have to hold a memory button in to save to memory on yours? *Also the fan on mine is always on

      @@bn880 I hope someone can answer that for you. Mine is in the UK and right now thanks to Covid I can't safely get back there for a while. The plan was to bring several of my supplies back here on the ferry. Oh, well.

    wow, I bought mine in the US at Fry's but mine had none of the adapter extras. Those could easily come in handy for lots of applications. I love mine. Been working great for past 12 months... I often use it to charge 18650's that i've swipped out of old laptop batteries... I also swapped the fan in the unit for a Noktua. Was not as big of a noise reduction as I had hoped but still better than the loud one that came in the unit.

    • @PeterScargill
      @PeterScargill  7 років тому

      Well, you know, the funny thing is... that's just what I'm using it for right at this minute!! I'm assuming I won't blow myself up by putting a top voltage limit of 4.1v... is that what you use? And - thanks for that, never thought of swapping the fan, it would be trivial to put one in that varies speed depending on temperature!!!

      Is that a popular store in the States? The only one I've seen was in Vegas when on holiday there.

    • @PaulMorley1
      @PaulMorley1 7 років тому

      Agree on the fan. I haven't yet taken the next step to try and vary the speed although the noktua should do that easily. Regarding the 18650... I figured you might be doing that as I spotted one in the vid. I've been meaning to make a vid of this anyway so here you go. A vid showing how the Korad behaves when charging 2 different 18650's. One with low charge and one with relatively high charge. ua-cam.com/video/tQafT8MOct4/v-deo.html. Hope this is helpful.

      Fry's is fairly popular but it's only in a limited set of major markets. 9 States and about 35 stores. Nothing like Best Buy which is much more mainstream consumer oriented. The funniest thing about Fry's imo is that they build the stores with these massive checkout lanes (and by massive, i mean on the order of 70 registers). But to this day I have never seen more than 20 open at any given time and I've definitely been at the busiest times.

    I just bought this PSU and something doesn't work. Whenever I press the on/off button to activate the output, the amps display fall to zero and nothing come out. Meter doesn't register any current from the PSU. Do you happen to know what's wrong?

    One strange thing - the unit came complete with a whole LOAD of plugs for various devices... and a lead that plugs into the back of them - but the lead has 2 wires at the end... would have made far more sense for that lead to have 2 banana plugs on the end - one red, one black!! Hmmm. Still, that's easily solved.

    Whoaw!! just looked at the price . It was a lot cheaper from Amazon UK although that was for the 3A version but it's nearly double the price.

    I bought mine from Amazon branded TENMA, looks exactly the same but my fan is on low all the time and it's enough to get quite annoying.
    I never noticed the 5th memory LED ?? I wonder what it's for.

    Nice video. Thanks. Just thought I'd mention that it does look like your one has possibly taken a knock at the lower right corner, as the earth terminal appears to be slightly pushed in / angled up, relative to the other 2 terminals? Did you notice this?

      Interesting Peter. As you can see in the vid that I posted on the other topic, mine has 'Lock' in the place yours has 'M5'. I would have to guess that it's just an odd misprint on the back panel. Odd for sure.

      It's a weird one, but try this;
      Press M4 (to go to the 4th memory)
      Rotate the wheel clockwise (one tick is enough)
      We have a bunch of these PSU:s at work, I usually store my settings in M5, so no one fiddles with my settings ;)

    Watch Dave Jones, the famous Australian blogger/reviewer/forum host and electrical engineer, test this power supply with lab gade equipment. It worked pretty well until it blew up. Along with other failure modes it was putting out an unadjustable 56 volts at one point. At another point the output meter read zero and the current read 5 amps. The terminals were not shorted. Even when it was working, it had some nasty voltage overshoots for certain voltage and current settings, on connecting the load It was enough to ruin equipment. 3 3 volts spiked to 4 volts. I had hopes for this supply but I have to give it a thumbs down and pass.

      There are so many similar variants sold under so many names I am truly confused.Circuit Spcialists in the US has one that they say was originally branded Hantech but they claim they are able to sell it at a lower price by buying it directly from the manufacturer, whoever that is. The panel layout might be slightly different and it is listed as 32 volt, not 30 but the functions seem the same. If somebody knowledgeable would have a look I would be grateful. Thanks
