    Noemi and I did a practice test before she went to do her real IELTS test. Noemi is from the Philippines and got a band 8 in the IELTS speaking test! There is a lot of great language in this practice test- which I have highlighted in the video and stick around until the end of this speaking test to see what advice I gave her- particularly for part 2 of the test. Enjoy!

    I am really impressed with the feedback part when the instructor analyzed strength and weak points that examinee had done in the previous parts. It would not only help the candidate to improve some tactics by herself, but also help me, one of the audience to lift my skill up for speaking. Wonderful! Thank you, Eli and Noemi.

    Hi Eli! In my opinion, band 6.5 or 7 is a better fit than 8. A medium degree of accuracy was observed on FC and GRA. To award band 8 a wider range of lexis and less inaccuracy would be necessary. Thank you. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    She's Filipino, so it wasn't that surprising. Besides, she passed the nursing examination, which means she has a good command of the language because the exam was in English. What I didn't expect was her score in writing since she said she's better at it. I'm guessing she got a bit complacent on that area.

By the way, do you have any recommendation as to which school I should go to, in order to get a formal training on English language proficiency? Thank you for posting this video. I got a question: when the band descriptor for 8 says: "..uses a wide range of complex structures", what does the adjective "wide" refer to? A big amount of complex sentences or a wide variety(namely a lot of different types) of complex sentences?

    • @EnglishProTips
      @EnglishProTips  2 роки тому

      Hey Aldo, it means a wide variety. I wouldn't worry too much about this. Especially in Part 3, when you get asked more abstract questions, you'll find yourself naturally using a wide variety.
