This is the 20th episode of the Hearthstone Expansion Showdown in which me and Dekkster are going to build 3 decks for different classes after having access to Scholomance Academy. We then face off in a best of 5 match to see who is going to be victorious. After every episode the next set in chronological order will be unlocked, making our decks better and better over time

I’m gonna miss this series it always feels like true hearthstone to me. Trying to play all the fun decks even though you get next to none of the necessary cards😂😂

If you are going to run season 2 I would suggest having some rules like "have at least 10-15 cards of this new set we opened in the deck" or "play all possible new legendaries" (have to exclude adventures for that). I believe that with a stipulation like that or a similar one you gonna create some really unique decks and thus season two would have a very different flare.
another option is to use standard rotation, makes it so that you cant keep playing un goro quests
Thats one of the rules we will definitely go with, problem is with the Core set granting us dozens of legendaries it might be a different game experience

I wonder if adding the ability to craft 1 common from the current set to both players on top of the wheel would be interesting

Season 2 can be exactly like season 1. Start fresh and you will most likely get different legendaries and epics. So it will be new and the same!

Season 2? What if we turned it around? you start with the newest release and open up packs from the previous expansions? idk at some point it would have less impact
I am hoping the same accounts and just buying more packs and then make it so you got to win with all classes
Thats the problem i find. Since they decrease in power level overall, they have less impact and so its not that cool.
They already started a second series over on Dekksters channel.

To be fair this episode solem said not really in reference to spikeridge steed and tarim but it still stands!
I would love to have a season 2, I think this series has been so much fun and it's so interesting watching you guys play actually different decks. And not watching Cimo play blackwings for 10 weeks in a row.
Just an idea for when you two start S2
- Go in Reverse, ergo the coming expansion first. Or just start in Classic again, because the legendary count is higher.
- About 50 packs per exp, or maybe 60 packs for the first exp and 30 or 40 for the expansions after that.
- Only use cards of that expansion and none of the core set or previous expansion.
- You can disenchant previous exp cards and craft cards of the current, so that you should always have 3 decks playable.
- If somehow, you still wouldn't have 3 playable decks(meaning 30 cards in a deck, not that those have to be good) you could open up 5 more packs and repeat until you can play 3 classes. This should statistically, if anything, only apply to the very first expansion you play, all others should be accounted for by the dust.
- In case of the Adventures and Mini-Sets, they should be played as an episode together with the expansion which would preceed it. (In case of One night in Karazhan it would be mean streets and Darkmoon Races with Forged in the Barrens etc.)
-For the wheel, because the previous version wouldn't make sense anymore.
- The looser gets a wheel spin for 1-4 extra packs next time
- The winner gets two extra packs.
Golden Legendaries maybe shouldn't be disenchantable, because getting 1600 dust might be too op. Unlike in S1 the Dust Value would actually be really important. Considering that even a bad legendary is at least worth 400 dust, which means multiple commons, 4 rares or one epic of the current expansion.
While not a progression series per se, considering your decks won't get stronger each ep, and more of sealed play. It actually would fit the name of the series as well, considering you would do a showdown of the expansion, seeing how strong it is on it's own. Is Zeddy right and Scholomance is inherently stronger then Kobolds? Is Rastakhans Rumble really the worst expansion? Which mechanic doesn't work at all? And which are actually only good, with later or earlier support?
All those questions could be answered by this "spin-off" series of Expansion Showdown, maybe subtitelt Highlander or ZeXal or Sealed.
All of this is purely speculative, I've no idea if this would work, I don't know if any content creator tried this format(probably not, because like the progression style, it's rather expensive).

If you consider using this idea, feel free to tinker however you like with it, you probably find problems which I haven't considered and solutions for them.
I came on this idea because I like sealed formats and progression formats and I thought about how to include HS dust system, because HS doesn't have a dedicated sealed format. But well like the progression series itself, sealed would be too expensive for almost everyone.
Though I still think they could implement it, by giving you 50(maybe even just 30) temporary packs, having you build a deck out of those and let you play five games with that deck, if you win all five you earn all the cards from your deck. And an entrance fee of 300 or 350 gold.

It bothers me so much that the shrink ray was played second against your yogg druid. Spellburst on the weapon would have given a 5/5 from shrink eat, and let a swing go into one of the minions. I mean, wouldnt really allow much afterwards but still! Lol

Might have been said before, but it’d be really cool if you could do this series again and act like it is Standard. Rotate cards out to mirror the history of Standard.
Do series where u have to use cards only from the expansion u choose haha
Maybe in next season you could replace rarity of cards in wheel for a dust? This way you could have more flexibility in crafting cards. Also you could bank dust for next episodes so even if you would be unlucky to get 400 dust four times in a row you would be able to craft legendary.
The only problem is crafting common and rares - if you get equivalent of legendary you would be able to craft all cards except for epic and legendaries...
This is my favorite expansion.
Dekker is like i dont know what Deck to build so i build a Deck with a lot of big minions.
Season 2 it'd be cool if you could disenchant cards and craft whatever you want, using the actual HS mechanics. Since you have to build 3 (or more) decks, you'd have to be very picky with what you disenchant and craft. I think it'd allow a lot of interesting strategy, where you have to weigh the pros and cons of making something that won't be that good now but will be good later or making something that'll be really good for 1-2 expansions at most

Season 2 is where you Dekkster race each other in the single-player content for expansions ex. first episode is Curse of Naxxramas where person and Dekkester sees who can beat Naxx first

I would like less packs for season 2, I know that 50 ensures 2 legendaries but they are playing decks with actual cards in them. 30 packs would probably be ideal for me.

Don't get those cards always get added to the packs? Meaning you can open darkmoon races cards in darkmoon packs and wailing cavern cards in barrens packs? It's probably the same for galakronds awakening and that's why they skipped it
@@meergrad no because galakrond is an adventure but for darkmoon and barrens it s a mini set
Maybe some of the simpler changes for season 2 could be made by getting your classes by spinning the wheel (as is done in the other formats)

When you get a golden legendary in season 2, you could be allowed to disenchant it and craft a legendary of your choice to make the decks a bit more competitive? Just a suggestion
deathlord play was pretty damn bad but yeah i think dex is the good guy of this series as he made the decks himself instead of remembering the wild meta. Mostly cos he doesn't know the wild meta.
