Re No 1 'Safety'. I had my bike stolen in London, when it was chained to a metal barrier in a locked underground car park, with CCTV. When I visit China, I still can't get used to not locking my old banger of a bike, when I go shopping-even though it only cost me 100 yuan! I've been blown away this last week with this video taking off. I was still expecting that I would have to keep grinding for about a year until any of my videos got noticed.
Hi Aaron, I am your new subscriber from HK. I have been to UK and Europe for many times. I agree with what you said in your video, particular safety. I also very agree with your discovery => one of the reasons why China is successful is due to only one ruling party. There is no negative voice when the Government wants to do anything. I think 95% of Chinese are supporting Chinese Government. Many thanks for this video again. I am looking forward to seeing what you don't like in China.
Have you ever considered why so many people support govt.? Almost 200mil Chinese people go outside China , why they still choose to return? Well wish you have a good future in western countries

if you leave a bike fully locked to a street sign or parking meter in NYC for a few HOURS, you can almost guarantee that there will be at minimum an attempt at theft of the entire bike. if they're unsuccessful, you can be certain something will be damaged or missing, such as the bike seat, or a wheel.
China's progress is because their government really cares about the people, and the people also love the government,Confucianism for five thousand years, which is a special advantage of China
Thank you for explaining what good in China. A real eye opener. But yes please show me all the beautiful and breathtaking places that are unique for us outside China. I heard that Kunming is very beautiful.
Food always no.1 food. I travel around the world and Chinese cuisine is the most underrated food on the planet. The complexity and the diversity. There is not any other country that can compete with it.
I haven't been to China since 2009 and miss it a lot. I retired at the end of 2019 and we were thinking about going back to Chengdu for an extended stay but then covid blew up and put it on hold. Now that China is opening up again we are thinking about it again.
safe to say the sense of safety is asia-wide. i went travelling solo as a female around different asian countries - not china yet but i totally believe everyone that says china is safe - including developing and wealthy ones and i felt more comfortable in those countries than i have in australia where i reside and australia isn't seen as unsafe in the big scheme of things. one thing's for sure, someone who looks visibly different appearance-wise in china (a non-local/foreigner) is never going to encounter a car-load of uncouth hoons driving by in their shit-box yelling racial epithets at them and then chucking their used macca's packaging at them whilst you are on your peaceful stroll down the street. i think a lot of people who don't look caucasian have copped this type of abuse. such disrespectful behaviour. also what i find bittersweet and kind of sad is that there are numerous accounts including yours where chinese people in china are seen as gregarious, social, curious, hospitable, warm, etc...and yet they're not seen that way worldwide as immigrants. they're seen as people who keep to themselves and are kind of outcast or isolated from the rest of the societies they migrate to...and i think that has a lot to do with a) immigrants just naturally gravitating to their "own" because they're in a foreign country and they want to feel a sense of safety, comfort and familiarity and b) that unfortunately chinese and asians more broadly have always and still are an easy target for racism and disrespect. any ethnic group that gets mistreated is going to close themselves off and not want to engage with the broader public and may come across cold or whatever. there's such a stark contrast in how chinese are perceived in their own country versus as immigrants in other countries. i think more foreigners need to visit china and experience the real china and chinese people!

I totally agreed with you from your perspective. the safety , green city, convenience for shopping, cashless, food variety, hospitable people, ShenZhen has become a metropolis from a small village, it is a miniature and a typical representative city of the reform results, the only one in China. The other thing you might know is it benefitted from millions of migrant works from all nation with low pay. Also it is still enjoying preferential policy, if you tend to know the whole picture of ShenZhen , the migrant workers life in ShenZhen is a topic .
Yes I would agree spitting is a disgusting trait particularly in times like now with the pandemic but spitting isn't reserved for Chinese people only. In Scotland, it's a 'cool habit' cos they see the cool footballers spit during games that are broadcasted on TV. I even had scottish tradesmen working in my new build house proper draw up phlegm and spit it out inside my house and think that it is okay ffs. Obviously the flooring wasn't installed yet but I still felt disgusted by his action.
Visited Bath over six years ago for the very first time , I was amazed at the architecture in and around city center , very old and historic, don't you miss it Aaron ?
system advantage is what I see here too. there's no-nonsense throwing back and forth, there's no 4-years-rollback thing that exists instead of a constant move forward 5-year-plan. yes, there is riffraff's all across mankind so it's here in China too but not on such a large scale separating different sexes, ideologies, states, no, there's a highly organized unity here, I said this because they design such a system to enhance the feeling of unity, that is very important to me. again there are differences, there are debates, there are a lot of people who even don't like the government's way of doing things but they improve themselves over time instead of throwing excuses because there are no excuses, there are no "opposition parties" to attack and get yourself away from this. I live in China and I constantly receive messages from "Peoples Daily" that some high CPC officials are held accountable because of poor behavior or sloppy work.

The root problem of the western demoncractic system is not the change of gaovernment every several years. It is that each party has its own interest that is not aligned with the interest of the whole country or the citizens. They each reperesented a small sector who funds the party. The success of China is not that ot ruled by a single party. It is that they have focused on the interests of the country and the well being of its citizens.
ya, one party government is not uniquely china. Others failed but china succeeded because of Chinese leader duties and responsibilities. Not because simply one party. USSR collapse!
I've spent 3 years in Shenzhe (2010-11-12) before moving to Dongguan and I miss it, now is a completely different city (first time I was there in 2008 there were only 2 partial subway lines and only LuoHu train station, now I think there are 11 or more lines 😅) I remember living in Buji in 2010 and taxi driver refused to send me back there due to the. crazy traffic jam 😅
The West says that the Chinese Communist Party is evil and dictatorial, but it is precisely such a government that serves the people wholeheartedly and is loved by the people of the whole country.

The street of My elder sister home even has no street light. USA night is much darker than China, I dare not go to USA public park because full of homeless and drug dealers. I cannot imagine. comparing USA, China life is lack of stupid politics and argument and all Chinese people are just working hard to let our family life become better and better, Frankly speaking, China is more peaceful and harmonious than Western countries. I always enjoy travelling in China, and yes I have to agree that the rail network is outstanding. We try and go back every year to visit my wife's family, as well as travel around.

Well done Aaron, keep up the good work !
Thanks Sam
Hey I agree with you 100% I lived in China many times with my bands working in hotels in 5 different cities and I love it it's true everything that you say. I 1st went in 1995 and Ive seen it change so much sense all the best to you and see you one day in China God bless.
if you leave a bike fully locked to a street sign or parking meter in NYC for a few HOURS, you can almost guarantee that there will be at minimum an attempt at theft of the entire bike. if they're unsuccessful, you can be certain something will be damaged or missing, such as the bike seat, or a wheel.

China's progress is because their government really cares about the people, and the people also love the government,Confucianism for five thousand years, which is a special advantage of China

Food always no.1 food. I travel around the world and Chinese cuisine is the most underrated food on the planet. The complexity and the diversity. There is not any other country that can compete with it.
I do love Chinese food as you can probably tell haha
I haven't been to China since 2009 and miss it a lot. I retired at the end of 2019 and we were thinking about going back to Chengdu for an extended stay but then covid blew up and put it on hold. Now that China is opening up again we are thinking about it again.
Your videos are lit bro....I'm moving to Shenzhen next month...and it just so happened that's where you're living. I don't feel as scared now!
Love watching your videos and your points of view 👍👏well done Aaron!
Glad you like them!
safe to say the sense of safety is asia-wide. i went travelling solo as a female around different asian countries - not china yet but i totally believe everyone that says china is safe - including developing and wealthy ones and i felt more comfortable in those countries than i have in australia where i reside and australia isn't seen as unsafe in the big scheme of things.
one thing's for sure, someone who looks visibly different appearance-wise in china (a non-local/foreigner) is never going to encounter a car-load of uncouth hoons driving by in their shit-box yelling racial epithets at them and then chucking their used macca's packaging at them whilst you are on your peaceful stroll down the street. i think a lot of people who don't look caucasian have copped this type of abuse. such disrespectful behaviour.
also what i find bittersweet and kind of sad is that there are numerous accounts including yours where chinese people in china are seen as gregarious, social, curious, hospitable, warm, etc...and yet they're not seen that way worldwide as immigrants. they're seen as people who keep to themselves and are kind of outcast or isolated from the rest of the societies they migrate to...and i think that has a lot to do with a) immigrants just naturally gravitating to their "own" because they're in a foreign country and they want to feel a sense of safety, comfort and familiarity and b) that unfortunately chinese and asians more broadly have always and still are an easy target for racism and disrespect. any ethnic group that gets mistreated is going to close themselves off and not want to engage with the broader public and may come across cold or whatever. there's such a stark contrast in how chinese are perceived in their own country versus as immigrants in other countries. i think more foreigners need to visit china and experience the real china and chinese people!
Chinese people are some of the most friendly people I know

Very good video. I have been in China for four times and my experience was fantastic. I hope someday living in China as you my friend.
Good luck in coming back to China, it's quite difficult to get in these days.
Shenzhen is a migrant city. That's why when you come here you become a Shenzhener. 你来深圳就是深圳人
I agree most if not all of Your views. Enjoy Life in China!

That is actually disgusting!

I live in China and I constantly receive messages from "Peoples Daily" that some high CPC officials are held accountable because of poor behavior or sloppy work.
the fact that they can plan long term initiatives and not just worry about election every 4 years is really a benefit.
Aaron, I agree with you on this video and share it on FaceBook.

That's cool! Yeah when you come to Shenzhen are you a SHENZHENER
I've spent 3 years in Shenzhe (2010-11-12) before moving to Dongguan and I miss it, now is a completely different city (first time I was there in 2008 there were only 2 partial subway lines and only LuoHu train station, now I think there are 11 or more lines 😅)
I remember living in Buji in 2010 and taxi driver refused to send me back there due to the. crazy traffic jam 😅
Thanks Aaron!
The West says that the Chinese Communist Party is evil and dictatorial, but it is precisely such a government that serves the people wholeheartedly and is loved by the people of the whole country.

I got the media propaganda of China before I went there in 2017. Got pissed drunk and walked back to my hotel at 4am. 4am! Holding a beer drinking walking. Saw a couple cops, and I got scared and tried to hide my beer. They saw me and laughed. Spoke some English to me saying it's okay, and I just continued walking. Because I was new, I didn't realise how far it was, I walked for a proper 45 minutes. Safe. No worries of any, 4am in the beautiful city of Cheng Du.
Yes, no one cares about your drinking in China, but if you drink loudly or fight, you may be severely repaired by the police
@@chuge4105 Yea and that's right of the police to do that. Anywhere in the world, no one should be drunk and picking fights with the public. That's why in many countries, you're not allowed to drink on the streets.

I ever think USA is more freedom than china, but after I worked in USA for a few months, I recognized I was Totally wrong. China has no political corrections, I can say anything I want in China. but cannot in USA. I can go outside at 2or 3AM deep night in China, but cannot in USA. The street of My elder sister home even has no street light. USA night is much darker than China, I dare not go to USA public park because full of homeless and drug dealers. USA subway make me sick because of so heavy urine smell . New York subway is so dirty. I cannot imagine. comparing USA, China life is lack of stupid politics and argument and all Chinese people are just working hard to let our family life become better and better, Frankly speaking, China is more peaceful and harmonious than Western countries. However, Western mainstream medias portray China is like a hell . all Chinese people are ruled by fear and policeman. it is so ridiculous. I have to say Chinese are having a happy life and government are concern about people and look after us well.
Why does it always have to be hate ? Why always tell yourself to hate ? Doesn't the good outweighs the hate ? Stop it , always stay positive.

Hi Aaron, if this is your name, if not please let me know, this is the first time l visit your site, frankly, l like your narrative and looking forward to follow your effort, come think about the gist of this story is all the inexpensive experience you have for 7 years, that mean 5 years without COVID 19 and 2 years self quarantine or kick down in Shenzhen, this is actual God send, for you to be able to spend 700 days without travelling outside Shenzhen is too harsh an undertaking, l assume that if there is no lockdown, you will be able to explode an gigantic country like China.
