    This video is very educational, not only for massage students, but also for any layperson watching. The instructor uses a simple, understandable terms and uses proper body mechanics throughout. My only comment is, I would teach the future massage therapist to remove jewelry, including any ring as it may hurt the client when doing the strokes. Overall, this video is GREAT.

    The techniques and explanations went great together. the way you explained how the client's body allows your arm to move across the back was explained to me as the muscle melting. that helped me to visualize and fully understand that I don't move, but the client's body moves, and I just follow. I love the video though. I will be watching it more than once.

    I'm glad he thinks deep tissue doesn't hurt. If someone is in pain. deep tissue does hurt. A good therapist releases the pain. Pain level should be 7 to 8 out of 10. Please tell the truth

    I have been trying forearm methods/body mechanics at work including the way this gentleman used and I still am straining my pectorals- major and minor. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

    • @BodyologyMassageSchool
      @BodyologyMassageSchool  9 років тому +2

      Nicole Rowe Its hard to say why...Most likely you are trying to push your forearm with your shoulder muscles (that's what the pectoral muscles doing) instead of leaning with your body weight...Try to lean more.

    • @IAmGunzNoob
      @IAmGunzNoob 9 років тому

      Did you pay attention in school or just took Massage Therapy for the quick cash? Nicole Rowe It's all about experimenting with your body. You shouldn't be asking for help of Anatomy when you should be creative as a Therapist. I mean... it's not like 100+ hours of Anatomy is a big deal.

    • @IAmGunzNoob
      @IAmGunzNoob 9 років тому +2

      Also, may I add, you could change the height of the table. I'm sure the instructor here didn't mention it, but putting the table lower, can increase the pressure making it easier to do deep tissue. You could be straining the Pecs, by your position, the table, posture, etc. Going back to my original reply, you have to be creative.

    • @BodyologyMassageSchool

    I find you are using your wrists with to much extension. It is best to keep your wrist at less than 90 degrees of extension...use your fists instead, or bring your body closer to the client to flatten out your wrists, keeping them as close to neutral as possible. The way you are using your wrists, you restrict blood flow

    You are putting your forearm right over the spine, is this not painful for her? When it’s done to me, I absolutely hate it, it’s so extremely sensitive. I think my therapist I booked the other day learned at this school because he was doing exactly this. I felt he was crashing my ribcage and damaging my spine, but didn’t get the deep detailed work in the muscles I wanted:((. So disappointing.
    In the middle of the video you’re working right over her spine, I’m so surprised this is thought at massage school.

      you can work on the spine, but you must be SENSITIVE. Its good to gently work on the spine and mobilise it. However, its not techniques that works on all client. So, somewhere, the therapist didn't communicate with you and 'tailor' the treatment to you.

      Bodyology Massage School I honestly didn’t know. I always thought - you can never touch the spine! I try to avoid it at all costs. Yes mine is super sensitive, I guess..

      Most of my students are women. So this is the only reason. As a male massage therapist, it's very important for me to have as many male therapists as possible. I'm happy to say that with each year we have more and more male therapists!
