@EchelonFront great episode. I am currently going through this situation within my organization. I had stepped into Regional role before being asked to and I did take EO with it. Then our VP said you will be our regional manager. Then we had got new VPs in and I got replaced. And the current regional has not supported the team. I still have personnel reaching out to me. In the end I had to make a decision and leave the company.
This has just happened at my work. The bosses boss has been “coached out”. Now there’s a void. I want the slot. I’m not a slouch, I get it done. The difference now is I am making sure the bosses pet peeves are getting done. If it helps the team and makes the guy happy… win win.

Walked into a new job at 43. It's a grunt job shoveling snow and whatnot. I have investments and I trade, money isn't the issue. But I want to work outside, pay the bills and not draw from my savings. First day at work I have an insecure, sheltered Mormon kid, telling me I suck. That's a story in itself. I have to relearn so many skills to relate to the environment I escaped 10+ years ago. One day u may have 15 employees having at u to advance, next thing u know some kid is taking u back to square one. Life's a bitch 😂
Leadership challenges will make you better if you can innovate and adapt.
How do I get someone that owns multiple franchises that is making massive amounts of money, to give the workers that go out of their way for the company the wages commensurate with the work they put into the company? What's the best way for that employee to go about getting recognized or getting them the wage they deserve? Especially nowadays with the amount of taxes that are being taken out of the average workers check it's almost ridiculous

Great advice but my company always has the person picked even when they tell you to apply. It’s maddening. They just chose a man with only 3 years experience when there were women with drastically more years of experience and knowledge.
That's definitely frustrating, to go through the effort only to get rejected. How are you demonstrating your experience and knowledge?

"Commanding" respect never worked on me. Dickishness isn't leadership. That goes double if you were my peer yesterday and my supervisor today. It's obvious to everyone when you're drunk on some tiny amount of power.
Truth. When we demand respect, we will only end up losing it. Instead, give respect and listen to others, and they will do the same to you.
I don't think this advice is particularly viable for most companies. Most companies want that kind of loyalty, but they don't promote you unless you're their lil buddy. They'll happily let you support away though....for the same pay.
Wonder what these men would do if their superiors rewarded overachievement of goals with mini chocolate bars and store credit like how it happens in real life.

Everyone has heard a story of the guy that does all the 'help' and then doesn't get promoted, then they have to stay or leave...it happens all the time. Bad bosses exist.

" It's who they like ". The guys Nephew will get Promoted before you.
play the long game. maybe that guy won't promote you, but someone else will see your leadership ability and snatch you up.
