    This is why I love bike racing. F-1 drivers make millions and millions and many are spoiled brats. Many TT racers competing at this incredible race, do their own prep work, race on a shoestring budget and are humble and down to earth. My very best wishes to you for a safe and successful TT. Will be following from the US.

      The MotoGP riders can also be a bit like spoilt brats. But yes, I totally agree, the TT road racers are such a down to earth likeable bunch of guys.

    I've always wondered how TT preparation differed from normal race preparation: and thanks to the Wavy One, now all is clear. Thanks Dave - and here's to you having a brilliant fortnight on our favourite Isle. Oh, and prayers going out to the weather gods. Obviously. 👍

    Do you use low strength Loctite (equivalent to a nyloc nut) for the non-critical fasteners Dave?
    Best of luck with the TT 👍

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  2 роки тому +1

      Depends what you'd call non critical really 😂
      Footrests, etc (definitely critical) I use high strength 270, but yes, on some less terrifying bits I will use 243 or 222

    • @deanmsimpson
      @deanmsimpson 2 роки тому

      @@obsession_engineering haha That's true. When travelling at over 150mph, every fastener is critical ☺
      But, yes, that's interesting you do. Afteral, you don't want any fasteners vibrating loose.
      Thank-you for the reply. Once again, best of luck Dave! 👍

  • @jonviol

    Don't you have a quick release system for changing the rear wheel/tyre during a race ?

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  2 роки тому

      We don't do a wheel change, so don't need the quick release option. But the caliper and spacers are captive so it can be done quickly if necessary

    Great video. Does the lock wire on the rear spindle not effect pit stops?

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  2 роки тому +1

      I usually run 6 laps on the same tyre, as I'm not fast enough to need the extra grip from the 2 lap tyres, so no rush when I'm wheel changing

  • @christopherfaulks6594

    Question, obviously dunlop tire issue has now stopped slick use,superstock tire instead,will it affect lap times assume slightly slower?

    • @obsession_engineering

    Hey wanted to ask ..on a 2018 s1000rr ..when doing a normal valnve clearance check do we need to take out the cam shaft holders as well ?? I understand if shims need to be changed then we need to...for just checking the valve clearance- do we need to remove the cam shaft holders too which hold the cam lobes

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  2 роки тому +1

      No, you only need the rocker cover off, no need to remove the cam caps

    With the ABS pumped removed, why are the ABS sensors and disks still on the bike wheels, carrying extra weight?

    • @HankeyMcSpankey
      @HankeyMcSpankey 2 роки тому

      probably need the wheel speed inputs for the anti-wheely/traction control stuff to work?
      I'm curious why the BMW alarm unit is still on there, does it do anything other than beep annoyingly and monitor tire pressure on the S1000RR?

    • @obsession_engineering
      @obsession_engineering  2 роки тому +1

      Correct on the wheel speed sensors, they're needed for traction, launch control, etc.
      And the alarm just helps my paranoia
