Just a question from watching your video. Wouldn't it be easier to run the pieces of straw onto your string of lights before you attach them and then just place them where you need them to be when you need them instead of trying to thread the straw pieces after you attach them in the icing?

You can certainly do that as well. Either way will work out great!

Thats no problem. The lights I showed in the video also come in blinking versions. Here is one example.

Depends on the size and how the castle is built. You could use any battery powered light. The battery operated tea lights may work.

Can I put back the cake to the fridge after installing the lamp?

Yes. Be sure to take the batteries out first. Cold draines battery power.
