I was laughing when I saw this tutorial because someone asked me for cocomelon cake. It was funny because I didn't have a clue (my kids are much older) & Here you are. I love your tutorial's and will send you a pic of it. Just remember I'm not as experienced as you :-). Thanks for another awesome tutorial!!
This is very helpful. I made small fondant bows with a mold. I was looking for a quick tip to remove the cornstarch. I'm new at using fondant, so I'm starting with small shapes. Thanks.
Watching just about all of your up to date tutorials so I can ace a Winnie the Pooh cake for my niece to be this April and thanks to you I have never felt more ready than before!!! Thank you so much you’re a blessing!!! ❤
Great info, thanks a lot. I like to use glucose to stick parts of decoration on cake board. And I like to make edible glue out of tylose powder, just mix up some water with tylose powder until you have glue consistency، I use it as a replacement of water to adhere parts of fondant together
Your videos are the most helpful videos ever! Thank you so much for sharing all of your knowledge! I feel like every question I’ve had you have an answer lol, thanks again for taking your time to do these videos!
Hi I am a new subscriber from Perth Western Australia 🇦🇺 Karolyn, love your work! A new one for you to add to your list is tylosin and water two tablespoon and 1/4 teaspoon tylosin mix and after an hour it becomes like Thick syrup. I also use the other options you suggested thank you for sharing 🎉 I enjoy watching your video ❤
Thanks so much for sharing tips that have worked for you, Saving extra curleys is a great idea! Your intro and ending are fine! don't change it because it identifies its YOUR channel! Since being a new "cake decorator" I have learned so much! Thanks again!
@@KarolynsKakes I just purchased the shortening from Walmart yesterday. I really wish I could get the sweetex, but I definitely know that 50lbs is too much. I’m so happy that I have found your videos❤ your advice and experience has helped me have the confidence to “up” my cake baking game. I appreciate you! Thank you
I usually use water or piping gel or royal icing for my cakes. However I have heard of people using karo syrup. Love your videos! Love to learn new tricks!
I love all your videos, thanks for sharing. I use tylose powder mixed with a little water but mostly when I’m adhering letters to fondant or gum paste.
I love your cakes and your videos. Im always hoping I see a new video of yours whenever I go to UA-cam. Thought I’d mention that another glue I often use is a solution of Tylose and water.
Thank you Robyn! Right now I post on Wednesday and Sunday mornings, hopefully I can do it more frequently soon! 🙏 And I totally forgot about the gum glue. It works really well!
Hey Karolyn! That cake is epic!! Thankyou as always, for sharing your knowledge & skills! Another "glue" I use is Royal Icing. Its a very firm hold but not especially forgiving! xoxo
Hi... can u please explain how long u keep frozen buttericing coated cake outside before you cover with fondant cover.. And how you make your fondant toppers dry
How do I fry your marshellow fondant recipe for cake toppers. I just followed one of your videos. Made the fondant, and did name and number topper… I’m letting it air dry? I hope it doesn’t breaK! Anyways.. you are my fav and have helped me so much
I make the toppers a few days in advance and let them sit at room temp to dry. I always add tylose powder to the fondant to help stiffen it up! And I make them thick enough that they won't break!
I love all your tutorials! How do u adhere an edible image to the side of a cake frosted with Italian meringue buttercream? I’ve tried to place tiny chocolate donuts on a candy cake and ended up using toothpicks because they started sliding as the cake came to room temp. And can u keep the cake in the fridge with an image on it? 🙏🏻 thanks for your time
I never use Meringue Buttercreams, so I'm not sure what to recommend about that. I'm sorry! What did you use when it didn't work? Here is info on refrigerating cakes: ua-cam.com/video/vBKi-O7v98w/v-deo.html
Quick question! I have a tall cake next week with American buttercream completely covered with sprinkles. Should I ice the cake, refrigerate, take out of refrigerator and paint it with one of these methods and then put sprinkles on or should I put sprinkles on as soon as I put the icing on. Do you have a video on sprinkles? Lol. I love your videos!!!
Hi when using card stock on cakes what’s the best way to add it to a cake without staining the paper. Or what’s the best paper or material to use when printing cake decor
Hi. I love your work. In doing a wedding Cake with Buttercream, what do I need to use to apply Fondant Draping to the Buttercream, not covering the Cake with Fondant.
I love your videos, they are really helpful and thanks for sharing your knowledge with us... Can I kindly ask if I can use these methods on buttercream cakes? I don't cover my cakes in fondant because I always fail(rips, lumpy and overall messy) so I only use it for decorations and I have had them slide down the cake( I don't know if the temperature outside does add to this)
Hi Karolyn can ask I want to attach a plaque it’s long and it is dry can I still use piping gel to attach it to the side of my buttercream cake? Thank you in advance
Hey Karolyn! I’ve been watching your videos for almost a year now and they’ve been really helpful since I’ve started my baking business! I’m going to be working with fondant for the first time ever for a cake that I have to have done by Sunday. I have to apply fondant triangles to a buttercream cake for a Pebbles and Bam Bam cake this was very helpful. I’m just curious to know is it ok to let the cake chill in the fridge overnight before applying the fondant pieces?
Definitely! All of my cakes get iced and then refrigerated overnight before I start decorating them. I prefer to do it that way so the icing is solid and it won't get messed up when I'm decorating it. Good luck, you got this!
I use Royal Icing as “glue” for certain decorations. I notice that you don’t use much Royal Icing. I usually have some on hand because I also make a lot of decorated cookies. That may be why you don’t prefer it…since your business is mostly cakes. Totally get that.

Yes! I totally forgot about gum glue (the tylose). And I never used glucose, that's one I'll have to try too!
@@KarolynsKakes yes give it a try but be aware that glucose doesn't adhere fondant with another piece o fondant at all🤍
I’m learning so much in the cake community!
I make gum glue also. That is one of my most used methods.
Would you use the tylose glue in the same way as piping gel (i.e. could it hold heavier piece of fondant to another piece?

What other methods do you use to stick decorations to your cakes?
Wafer paper glue (made out of shredded pieces and water. I learned from You Tube channel: Astashkina cakes
@@louiselemon9717 Interesting!! Never heard of that, I'll have to try it! What does she recommend using it for?
It’s used as glue for wafer paper flowers
I have used a little bit of corn syrup. But usually I only use water and piping gel.
I love your work
Juaquina! Thank you honey, I appreciate you 😊🙏
I had never thought of shortening for attaching decorations

How many servings or what are the cake sizes on that cake?
That's 4 / 6 / 8 tiers, feeds 40-45 😊

Exactly! I rarely make it, so I usually don't have it on hand. But it does work well as glue!

Are all those decorations edible images on fondant?
The characters are edible images on fondant. The letters for the name are just fondant. 😊
