This ensemble is standard instrumentation and can be called either Woodwind Quintet or Wind Quintet. It comes from the classical period when there wasn't really a distinction between brass and woodwind instruments as there is today. Historically, horns have played together with woodwinds because their timbre blends nicely.
As a hornist, we are omnipresent.
I see what you did there 😆
I am very glad that there is a bassoon part, I am the only one in my high school for seven years.
Im in music school and i rlly wanna try this wuth my classmates, exept no ones a basoon sadly
If you reach out to me through my website, I can usually provide a transposed part to sub out an instrument.
Does your school have Bass Clarinets? Bass Clarinets can usually get the range of a bassoon.
As a saxophonist, I feel very left out.
Sax quintet version coming soon!
I’m doing this for my winter concert and my director just rewrote the bassoon part for the saxes, so if you have the time and patience..
Saxophones don't appear in classical woodwind quintets.
@@aPersonWhoHasViolins I know. I just felt like saying something.
Skill issue (From a hornist)
Hey nice arrangement! If you have time come see the ones I'm doing myself. Cheers
I'll check em out bro I gotchu
But aren’t horns brass instruments?
They are! However, they play in woodwind quintets because of the nice way that the warm timbre of the horn interacts with those instruments!
@@Eli-music484in short, we’re just better
French horns are treated just like saxophones and can be classified as either in technicallity
Hey shhhhhhhh, we’re forgotten and always play with the saxes, so we just snuck in
Yes but we’re losers and can be classified as a saxophone because of our sound.
Horn in F (French horn) is not a woodwind it's a brass. If you meant Wind (as in instruments you blow into) that would be better.
