I find the ones who do it best make it so that when you look at it on the page, it seems like a horrible clash, but when played, the context makes it make sense. It is a clash but goes perfectly with the direction of each instrument’s melodic line.

My favorite part is the bar at 1:11. The Tuba has a D-flat, but the horn maintains the “harmonic minor” scale with a D natural. Cool sound.
