The ability to use the thumb when the grading bucket was on, was the one draw back of the old setup. This is so much for versatile. Looking good now Chris. Thanks for sharing.
And from what I’ve seen of Chris’s operating skills, he could use the excavator to mix cake batter in a glass bowl and not break it! And spread the icing on it after baking, too!
I feel your pain! Somedays it just seems like nothing goes your way or your way without a fight. Great seeing you work thru it. I've learned sometimes though that it's better to just start fresh the next day, lol.
Well,Chris's farm is gonna keep us subs entertainmed as long as his channel exists. Especially with him having so many seperate projects to get done. I've a feeling as soon as he gets one done he'll come up with another one. It's all part of owning an ever expandibg farm.
Hello! Just a short note to tell you that I really enjoy viewing your videos. You are a very hard worker and highly intelligent. May God continue blessing you personally and in all the work that you do. All the changes that you are doing through your tractor work, will be there for hundreds of years after we all are all gone. Well, that is all for now. (David, Texas, USA)
I love watching you efficiently move dirt. I love how effortlessly you make it appear and I know (from my own experience in a different field) how hard-won that 'effortlessness' is. How much work, the years, the drudgery, the time in the seat it took. Thanks for sharing your time with us all, your lovely farm, and all.
Yes, he makes it look so effortless that you can think oh that stuff is easy, but understanding craftsmanship you really know it is difficult for 90% of us.
Chris, on the Bomag, check the injector pump shut off wire. If it has a bad / loose connection / short it will act like that. Running it on ether can wiggle the wire just enough to restore power and enable the pump.
Another possible cause is fuel filter non return valve fault, draining back. A little time with engine start can be enough to reprime the injection pump.
On that Bomag sheepsfoot roller, looks like a Deutz diesel. There is a screen by the fuel pump that's get dirty from time to time on my machine. The more you own , the more YOU fix.
Chris, when you had those 13 pieces of equipment lined up I thought how many headaches you had with batteries and tires. We farm so I know what you are feeling.
Some days things go well but not very often. And some days you need soooo much patience and perseverance that I think a lot of people would quit and heaven knows we want to as well but in the end the rewards are worth it! It’s always nice to see that we are not the only ones 👍
Chris hope you are doing good. I’m a Truck Driver/Laborer for the state I live. I love Heavy Equipment n trucks n I’ve learned a lot from you. Even though I don’t run Equipment lol. U are a True Craftsman of ur Trade Man. I wish you the best n Success brother.👍✌️🇺🇸
I liked your little cheating special pushing the truck along! I was on a job a few years back cutting out a ditch and I told the driver don't worry about putting in gear that I'd push him forward and he didn't think it was possible and showed him it could be done. Anyways got the farm looking good!
I love the new setup on the excavator... I ran a similar setup but the bucket tilt was a hydraulic motor ( no cylinders) it's awesome to be able to use the thumb and tilt together u will find it very convenient... To keep the hydraulic hoses tight to the boom we welded two loops made from round stock and wrapped it then the hoses went through it... I had over 10,000 hrs on it when I left the company no issues
I think that’s exactly why he got this one with the extra set of hydro connections on the stick was because on the old 220 he couldn’t use the thumb with the tilt bucket and he mentioned several times how handy it would be to be able to do both the tilt bucket and still have the thumb instead having to choose one or the other 👍
It’s really nice to take some time out and work on your own property. You seem to Work Work Work for other that is great to see you doing your own thing I know it’s still work but it’s a little different when your improving your place , it’s great to see.
Chris even with all you have done, it is good to hear the excitement in your voice about a new piece of equipment. And when Barny Rubble Hauler had a problem you, not your mechanic or electrician fixed it and you verified the correct voltage of the charge. Yep treat that equipment well so it can return the favor, prosperity one haul truck load, one 220 bucketful, and a few passes with the motor grader, a few stumps shoved out with Betty, and chewing a few trees with that brush grinder. And thanks for the ride along over you shoulder, been very informative and enjoyable.
A hint for AMI RnD, modify bucket back wall so that it is in 45 deg angle vs hydraulic cylinder. Then when cylinder tries to pack the mud in, it will squeeze it also away. Or you can make a sleeve on around the cylinder with 45 deg angle. Anyway, the problem can be solved in multiple ways.
New Generation Tilt Bucket and Testing it out ! Roller was acting Up and now the Truck - but You overcame that very Quickly ! Continue on Your Farm Road - ready for more Gravel ! Its always the Little Thing that turn out into Big Things ! You had an Adventure of a Day - well that's how it is Sometimes ! We enjoyed the Video and Cheers from us in Australia !!!!
Chris that fabric with the mesh is used on the high end paving stone driveways. Allows for better drainage and less movement of the paving stones. As for the price you were close but this day and time add another $500 on that roll.
You know when jump starting the dump truck, you don't need to put the black lead on the negative pole of the battery as it's difficult to get to. All you need to do is attach it to any metal part of the truck or engine and the red lead to the easier to reach positive pole on the battery. It will make your life easier when jump starting. That also applies to any other motor too.
In theory yes, but when everything else has paint or rust or dirt on it, it makes a terrible connection. 9 times out of 10 you end up at the battery post anyway.
I guess one shining light to come out of this is ya toys had issues basically on ya door step and not miles from home. That new prehensile bucket looks to work in well with the thumb too bro. Safe travels
Working on your truck today you got your hands dirty fixing the wire. Don’t see that very often ! Keep up the good work, love seeing with the new toys ! The 550 was very impressive to bad you didn’t keep it. Gullywhomper
a trick I learned from some GE field technicians many years ago. The electrical connectors have a split in the metal that tightens down to the wire. Rather than using a crimper to compress both sides of the slit onto the wire at the same time with one squeeze of the tool, I use a pair of lineman pliers to fold one side of the metal onto the wire. I then fold the other flap over the first one. I have never had an issue with connectors coming loose. Takes an extra 5 seconds but worth it
It would be worth your while to buy Thomas and Betts wire connectors and wire ends for your needs. They are so much better in vibration type applications. We used them on electric shovels and blast drills and then the truck shop started using them on haul trucks when the ones they were using kept failing. They cost a little more but are worth it.
Thanks Chris, When you're having a bad day, sometimes music helps you cope and carry on, so here is some: Some days are diamonds (John Denver) and Blues despair and agony on me (Buck Owens) . Have a good day tomorrow.
Sometimes it doesn't pay to get out of bed or for that matter, try to anything. But then again, you discover things like the ground wire that as not hooked up. Good thing you found it before you took it to a job.
I heard your reaction to Barney's no-start. Through the closed door and everything! It's good that it's sorted now with an easy fix, may need replacing again at 12,000 hours
I used to put a hand warmer behind the Go pro case and it would keep the thing running for a full batterys worth. You can buy a pack of 10 for around 8 bucks and they last all day.
Have you played with the new fancy active controls yet? Like to see how well setting a swing and height boundary up for loading trucks. Boom up and swing as fast as it will go.. it stops right over top of the truck. No overshooting or breaking early on the swing. Computer fixes all that now. I just haven’t have a chance to Load a truck with one yet.
Interesting on Barney's problem ... I had just resolved my starting issues on my Toyota HiLux 2.4TD over here in France, came in to have Lunch and saw your video. Mine was no crank, no horn/clock/radio ... all fuses good. Yep, as always ... a "Grounding Issue". HA
Suggestion re the battery access for jump starting, use a Anderson plug and cables to one point of easy access, have a Anderson plug adaptor for the jump pack all that is required is connect and play with ease and also set up your battery chargers with the same plug, again simple plug and play, this for any of the machines with battery access issues and think about solar panel battery boosters for when the machines sitting, not running. A bit of time and a bit of money over time will get the installation done
So appreciate the videos!!! Wow, that is an amazing bucket, can really move the dirt etc. in much less time. More profit. God's blessings and stay safe
Oh Boy, momma said there would be days like this. You tackled those problems no sweat. New bucket pretty cool. Cut the road so evenly makes for a solid base.
One of the problem's Having a fleet, it's like having alot of kids, one of them is bound to act up at the worse time possible time 🤣🤣🤣, but we all know, you got this, great job!!👊💪
That soil is pretty good, and your grass is doing really good. Nicely done… I build and work on hot rods and old cars … when there is a power problem we always say…. It’s always the ground
Every time I work on Sunday i end up losing money. Last time my semi truck lost all air pressure and cost me $300 for a tow and I had made $150 that morning 🤔. Now I go to church and rest 🙏
Chris, nothing worse than the ghosts in the machine, one minute it's working fine next it's dead 😵💫 Always nice to find a problem to fix, maybe get rid of one ghost 👍👍
Life's like that - little things cause big problems. New tilt bucket protective idea is clever thinking. Over 100F today and expected to get hotter over the next few days. Farm looks great for mid winter.
because you have all the machines together they are attention seeking just like children, I can't imagine why people would question an experienced professional opperater like yourself Chris, hope the new year gets better for you,
The connections on the new grading bucket don't work out even modified..they look in the way of the bucket and the dirt or loads in the bucket.New. Routing and guards.
Oh that was classic when Barney wouldn’t start you could still hear Chris yelling inside the cab 😂😂😂
“Giver the summer air”
The ability to use the thumb when the grading bucket was on, was the one draw back of the old setup. This is so much for versatile. Looking good now Chris. Thanks for sharing.
Grading with the excavator then using it to push Barney forward without having to interrupt your workflow... absolute madlad.
New bucket looks sweet. Seems to tilt a little more than I remember the other one. Upgrades for Chris are like paint brushes for a artist!
I love all these new attachments; it reminds me of when I bought a kitchen mixer and then bought a lot of attachments for it.
🤣🤣🤣
Lmao good one
And from what I’ve seen of Chris’s operating skills, he could use the excavator to mix cake batter in a glass bowl and not break it! And spread the icing on it after baking, too!
I bought a mixer but couldn't afford the attachments lol
🤣😂🤣
I didn’t think you had days like this!! Just the rest of us have all the problems!! Enjoy watching you work.

I have always seen the excavator as much more sophisticated than a bulldozer, so scooping and loading makes much more sense
On that Bomag sheepsfoot roller, looks like a Deutz diesel. There is a screen by the fuel pump that's get dirty from time to time on my machine. The more you own , the more YOU fix.
The Operators prayer, "Please start".
The new tilt bucket uses a helical actuator. Like you said it is still a hydraulic cylinder, but the piston and rod have helical teeth cut into them.

thats genious pushing the truck with the EX. The definition of working smarter not harder.
We always added external jump lugs on our machines, just for the reason of not wasting time getting to the batteries in the field.
