2020 Kawasaki Z900 Review
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 сер 2020
- Following last Friday’s critically acclaimed 2020 BMW F900R vs Kawasaki Z900 comparison vid, one disgruntled UA-camr commented: Never understood comparison videos. Why not just review the bikes individually? You will always annoy people and everyone disagrees. Both bikes are good but are different, some like Kawasaki some like BMW and… well, it digressed from there.
But not before giving us the brilliant idea, why don’t we review bikes individually?! Great idea. So, Sean Matic and I rushed out to film this stand-alone one of the Z900.
I kid. We actually shot this one way back in May, but technical difficulties shunted it onto a sidetrack, then other more important things kept pushing it to the back of Matic’s queue. At last the wait is over, and I’ll apologize up front if it more or less repeats all my favorite things I already pointed out about the Z in last week’s vid - and leaves out some things I didn’t learn until after. And the sound is kinda weird, which was the original problem. And, oh, never mind. Watch it if you wanna, but I think we can all agree print remains my forte, sorry.
Spoiler alert: The 2017 Z900 was MO’s Best Standard of the Year, in that year, and the 2020 only improves upon it. It’s a very tough act for any $8,999 bike to follow, much less beat.

well thanks very much Fred! That was Motorcyclist magazine, and they're still around but just barely and only online.
Z900 is the PERFECT BIKE FOR THOSE WANTING TO GO UPRIGHT ON A SUPERSPORT........ABSOLUTE BEAST!!
It's not a beast. There's only one beast 1290 sdr. 😂😂

this dude is awesome. he seems almost pissed that he even has to waste his time talking to us.
like, "yeah it's a great bike for the money, what else do you want me to say; go buy it. youtube, etc... i'm out."
i love it.
Ol man Burns still got it. Glad to see him back
"Guys, seriously, it's time to start going a little easy on your dad. You may not like what he has to say all the time, but he really does love you and wants the best for you."
Just picked up a '22 Blue 900 last Friday. Looked at a new MT09, but the looks sucked. I like the linear power delivery of this rocket. The whole bike oozes quality. A lot of bike for the money. It's freezing where I live, so I sit in the garage with a beer and admire it...
Same bike can't stop riding it. Cheers! 🍻
The MT-09 has a weird super motard feel to it I felt like. The Z900 is much better!
After a year of riding it, what do you think now?
The m109r is a huge pi😂ce of plastic with a greAt engine. It’s very cheaply made motorcycle.
@@gabryalmalakyah8013 Love it more after 6k miles than when I bought it. Engine is spectacular. Very happy.
Cant wait to be this man’s age and be that older guy giving great tips and sharing my experience with younger riders. Great Vid.

Good man John. Great review. I'll be looking at the Z900 for my 70th birthday. I had a green 73 Z1 and do like the RS but I also like more hp and better handling for less money. Keep on truckin!
Tom Quinn - I think you'll love it. It is an easy bike to ride and forgives the odd bad input in the corners. 👍
Buy it brotha!! This bike is imo a perfect upright supersport even a 80 year old grandma can ride in the canyons
Erm...the 2020 Z900 is 125Hp.I bought this bike 3 months ago and I love every minute I spend on it.

Awesome review man! I’ve been looking for my next bike, and the z900 seems to fit my needs. Comfort, reliability, budget-friendly. Thanks!
This bike is starting to win me over. I like the ride position and the boost in power compared to my ninja 650.
Solid review. Straight to the point. Love it
In 1975 I bought a new 900z1 and loved it. In 1985 I bought a 1984 ninja 900 and loved it. I think I'll make it 3 soon. Thank you Mr. Burns, I think I'm older than you.
Cinematic! Heart-felt! Scrunch all like buttons across the fan of motovlogdom!
Yes a like here also. Good to see John. Always a review you can trust from him. Thanks
I've owned a couple of MT-09s over the years and I always sold them because the motor was just a little too unrefined and rowdy. I picked up a z900 the other day and I can definitely say that this bike has the classic Japanese inline 4 cylinder smoothness I was after. It makes a bit more power than the Mt-09 but the power delivery isn't harsh. Smooth baby smooth!
Enjoyed watching this review.
Thanks for the review... I'm looking for a hipper bike... Getting to old for my harley all the time
From 50 to 90 mph in like under 2 seconds, I love mine!
Me too. One of the best bikes I've owned and ride the most.
Always like your viewpoint on the bikes.
I hope they have factory option to add QS, also is there a way to upgrade the brake caliper to monoblock ? The linking part looks different from other suspension
6:20 They included the taller seat as standard for US and Europe. You can tell just by looking because the previous seat was ridiculously thin.
I've enjoyed many miles on my old zr-7, and can imagine this bike is somehow on the same theme but way more powerful, smoother, similar in wonderful handling, and a great bike to own. More power than I'd need but I'd trade back and forth if I could. The one edge my zr-7 may have is looking better, I'm no fan of modern origami styling but it is better than some others I've seen and I could live with it, and there are other styling options Kawasaki offers in similar bikes.
The background where you stand is awesome.
Good commute bike and weekend twistie canyon bike. Very good value for money for most riders. Have to ask whether you need to spend more and why.
Great review, diggin the bike.
Awesome and hilarious review!
Good job Burns. Enjoyed.
Great review!
Got 1500 miles on my 2020 Z900 has definitely been best bike ive owned in my opinion. Good power, safety add ons are nice, good body position and she wheelies well. Only complaint is seat is kinda rough but its stock sport bike seat what can ya do
Those are a lot of features at that price. What a time to be alive.
My favorite reviewer
John, I love your reviews! The children are still young of course, so they are at a disadvantage.
Lots to like about this rig. Maniacal Austrian UA-camr Schaaf raves about how confidence inspiring and fun these are on his mountain roads. If it were mine maybe it gets flat black paint without graphics? The Tubes can stay insane in candy lime metallic. Power tools, man.
Great job John!
It's all good, John: you lay it out, and we'll play it out. :)
$9000 is a budget bike people must be very rich these days.
Well look up ktm dual sport/enduro bikes..exc 6 days can cost 12k
Fyi, this bike in my country will be on sale for around 17K USD because of the taxes, etc.
So , yes, i think below 10K USD is a good price for >500CC 4Cylinder Bike.

Love the way you review the z900 I probably get this bike thank you
Seems like you get a lot of engine for your money. nice looking bike too.
Great review, looks like a solid choice overall. Kawasaki seems to put some effort into the suspension on their bikes which is nice to see. I just want an inline 4 600cc Versys with good brakes and decent suspension without a cripplehammer’d fuel tank. A S1000XR lite.
What means cripplehammer'd?
john burns When somethings nearly got it all right, and then the manufacturer “cripples” a feature to keep the budget model from stealing sales from the more expensive models. I’m still sour about BMW putting a 4 gallon tank on the F900XR. Almost had a killer touring and twisty road bike, bummer on the range though.
I am an old kawasaki fan - the first new street bike I ever bought was a KZ 750 1984 ( I was about 27 then ) . It was a light metal flake blue one with a dark blue pinstripe. I searched for hours and only found one or two of that color . 20 years ago I got a used 1984 KZ 550 LTD . Then in 2019 I got a red Z900 ( only has ABS ) . I liked it so much that I then got a blue 2020 . I have 1500 miles on it and about 6500 miles on the red one .
I love them both - I am also 6 1 and about 200 lbs .
I don't do tricks or anything but on the red 2019 bike - after the 600 mile break in, I always accelerated hard . Even so, I got 5000 on the rear tire before replacement . I almost never use the rear brake ...
The fastest I have been is 145 MPH on both bikes . What about you ?
I don't normally click like for anything.. ever.. but that crack at the end earned it hahaha
I have the 2019. I weight 152lbs. I feel every bump in the rode. How much do you weight? I’m looking into a Olins rear shock
I have come here from the Yamaha world. The world that I thought was superior in the motorcycle industry. But it is now the 4th year without a full sized cruiser, and with recent discoveries they stopped making the R6, VMax, and the WR250R. It is time to switch brands. I'm probably one of many angry customers, I WAS going to look into a MT series bike of theirs, but came across the beauty and decided to check it out.
I have the Zrs and I find myself watching the regular Z900 videos wondering if I made the right decision. I really like my Zrs but I think I would prefer the sportier engine of this one since I keep it in the upper rev range most of the time.
Why not both?
The RS is a little nicer trim and more comfortable. With a Ivans or other quality tune, exhaust, airbox mod you have the same power.
@@agent2563 i have added a full exhaust and a tune from 2wheeldyno and it definitely transformed the bike I also put a cowl and clip ons, here is the video of my exhaust comparison ua-cam.com/video/TWokqdkthlg/v-deo.html
I’m literally going stir crazy! I wanna ride so bad! My 22’ z900 is already purchased and waiting for me to pick it up at the dealership!
How about Triumph street triple R quite comparable to z900 which one do you think is good?
Need to see this bike in person, the gas tank seems super tall.
Should I trade in my 2016 ducati 821 monster for this?
No matter what's come out since with 50 lbs. of tech onboard, these are still impressive bikes. Love my '22 twilight blue Z. Get giddy every time I hop on board.
In my country, they haven't release the 2020 model yet. Hopefully they would do it soon since I'm planning to get the Z900.
What country do you live ?
Ole John has really grown on me. In a world of fluff, John gives it to you straight.

Where are they riding this bike? It's absolutely gorgeous
Surprised a QS and blipper arent options..have to go aftermarket.
Only upshift for z900 no blipper
Nice vid mate, just joined your channel. Is there alot of difference to the Z1000? If you've reviewed it 🙂 Thanks.
Sweet bike. Awesome guy!
Very good Kawasaki but its almost like your are holding back, I dont see why you could not have added a bi directional quick shifter, all of the competition is adding it, bike would be perfect.
Sir, i wanna ask something... Why there is a lot of price difference in between z900 and z 900rs...?
Because its cafe racer... Seriously I work at a Kawasaki dealer here on Spain, and the "Quality" in both bikes is the same
The perfect example is the kawasaki W800... Extremly expensive just for being a retro styled bike...
It’s nice but the 2016 version was a beast both in design and power.
All you do is give. You're an effing saint - now everyone off my effing lawn!
I like, still tossing between ftr1200s or z900
Z900
🤔…..best value for this class? Yes, absolutely. I bought a 2019 Z900 in the U.S. brand new - still have it. And, I spend about 6 mths a year in the Philippines, and just recently bought the 2023 Z900 over there. I’ve been riding motorcycles for almost 40 years now…..the Z900, for the money, is the best street bike I’ve ever owned, by far.
Hello friends, I am from Brazil and I am in doubt about this bike from the video or the Zx6R, I have no preference for style, I just want a powerful companion to accompany me on a daily basis and travel. What do you think?
For daily basis and travel, I think you'll find the Z900 a little more comfortable and easier to ride. ZX6-R isn't bad, but a bit more sport/racetrack oriented, ie, more hunched over!
@@johnburns8956 And in terms of performance, which tells me
Is this bike to small for a 6 footer. I had 2 z1000
Thanks daddy Burns!
where was this filmed? The location is beautiful
I'm guessing Mulholland Drive or The Snake up of the 2 north of Glendale. Both are in the Los Angeles area.
Great video. Thank for trying for the kids ;)
Looking into the rs. I don’t like big screens on bikes :-/
I want a good naked. I bought an adventure bike and miss the feel of the naked.
I've driven one and I absolutely love it.
Tiny engine? 950cc 4-inline is a tiny engine? 🙃😁😂
What is average then, Triumph Rocket?
