Grew up on the Putland Road and moved to Connolly Square......Native of Baltinglass these days, the town will always be in my heart I'm very proud to say it's my home town.
Tommy Mc Nulty (retired) was one of Brays Barbers. Also there was another Tommy (Traynor). Who had his shop off Westbourne terrace. James (Jazzer) Power had his shop on the Novara Road. The same shop is now a Unisex Hairdressers. Jazzer was the Barber of choice by the Bray Branch of the FCA. There was also a small Barbers Shop situated in the back of a sweet shop on the Main St. in what is now a Tanning Shop beside Richards Curtains. The Longest Running in Ireland and still in operation to this day 2023 is The Hygenic Barbers on Bray Main St. Run by Oliver (Ollie) Mahony. Olllie took the Helm at 17 after the Death of his Dad Joseph. Ollie is understandably the longest serving Barber in the whole of Ireland and possibly the World. Still going strong. P.S on a side note I do apologise if I missed out other Bray Barbers. If anyone can shed a light on who they were and where they set up shop please post below. I have not forgotten Eamon in Squires on the Main St also but he would be one of the newer generation of Bray Barbers. So when Ollie retires Eamon will take over the mantel of the True Bray Barber.....

Fantastic documentary, so much history in this great town. We need to preserve it.
Many a time I sat in that very chair, with a long haired Tommy at the clippers.
Very interesting and enjoyable video of my Fathers and ancestors town.😊
Thanks Yorkie Bar, really glad you enjoyed it. :)
