- Complete Red Rock Scenic Byway (Arizona Route 179) drive through Sedona, Arizona. We begin at I-17 and enjoy stunning red rock formations as we head north into Sedona, taking a brief side trip along the way to see the historic Chapel of the Holy Cross, and finally driving through downtown Sedona.
This drive was filmed in early November, and there was plenty of fall foliage as we made our way into Sedona.

I'm in Texas and I have been visiting Sedona virtually every summer for the past 10 years. Every year when I make the drive from Phoenix to Sedona and first start seeing all the red rock mountains I get a certain feeling that's indescribable and I'm overwhelmed with excitement and beauty. It's like a natural high. Keeps me comin' back every year.

Sedona can certainly get hectic. The day we did this drive happened to be a holiday weekend, and there was some road construction happening in town which slowed things down.

Driving under clear blue skies. In our country, it is rare throughout the year.
I like the reddish-brown mountain surface, which really shows the continental America.
The red rock in Arizona, Utah and Nevada really made us fall in love with the desert!

The scenery is so beautiful that I am deeply impressed by those red rocks. The rocks I photographed in the Taihang Mountains of China are grayish brown.

Been there back around 2010 or so, while living in Tucson. Beautiful country indeed. Looking back at the 7 years my wife and I lived in Arizona, with the heat of summer a little oppressive, and the desert fauna and flora, it was overall a good experience, but the only downside was the darn scorpions, who seemed to find a way into our home regularly. Guess you never find the perfect place.
Tucson is so great too. Nice that it’s a bit cooler than Phoenix. Scorpions are sketchy, especially if they end up in the house!
