This used to be on the Ticket to New Year's Dead video I had. I lost it a long time ago, and can't remember which New Years show it was. Best version of Bertha I ever heard though. I remember that.
Man jerry could kick drugs with a smile on in front of everyone, I dunno if you guys get how hard that is, when it's such a part of your life. I'm sure it wasn't all smiles , but he was such an enigma. Nerdy bohemian lovable guitar ripping bastard
I mean, he didn't actually kick the drugs though. He did these kinds of "say no to drugs" things a lot in the 80s and 90s, but he was still using pretty heavily throughout most of that time. The fact that he died in a rehab center in 95 pretty much demonstrates that.
I think it's this same set, at midnight you can hear a guy yell "happy fucking New Years!!" And jerry says "same to ya!" He says the same here, just classic
Ha ha ha, ...hot , wish I could have tasted one then too. Tom Davis never introduced himself. Why was this not pursued back then as a daily TV show? TD was on to something wonderful; I am not too sure he pursued, that the networks are doing now and here JG is doing it as a pioneer for fun. Great piece.
Dude, isn't it ironic that you, Richard Simmons, thinks this is gay? The stuff that you do doesn't come off so hetero most of the time! Anyhow, this was great I love how Jerry is always open to funny skits and great personal interview about random topics. It makes him more personal and the music even more meaningful.
@brainslks Sorry. I wasn't commenting about Al Franken. I like the guy too. I was only making a quote from this video .... not putting Al Franken down at all. But I can see where you would take it that way. Sorry again.
"Sprinkle liberally the powdered sugar" TD-"Doesn't that look good?" Looking at the bag of sugar Garcia has a flash-back of bags of powder, tin foil, lighters, clear ammonia, carpets with hundreds of cigarette burns around the chair....................
"Well, I'm not a health nut." - Jerry Garcia
That intentional sigh at the big bag of white powder is so funny.
Imagine If jerry was still here today, he could have a primetime cooking show! And I would totally watch it.
Never drink the punch that Jerry Gives you.
R S why not u only live once
When Jerry pauses and sighs before sprinkling the "bag" of powdered sugar is hilarious
Jerry can hardly suppress a laugh at the end after saying "Have a good time, folks, and don't do anything I wouldn't do." Lol
if Jerry had lived to be on the tim and eric show, this is what it would be like
Holy shit you're right. Add the face close up's and other cut edits. The performances are spot on!
exactly

Jerry always puts a smile on my face. Such a great guy.
Holy shit this is hysterical. I can't even figure out what parts are scripted for humor and what is just Jerry being Jerry.
"...and don't do anything I wouldn't do."
Christ.
Happy New Years, buddy. Miss ya.
*as Tom burns his mouth* “would you like some special punch?” Hahaha he never wondered what made it so special
"Just ginger ale and fruit juice"
"That's right"
This is the point at which the video should start melting, while the audio freaks.
RIP Tom Davis, and RIP always to Jerry.
Jerry is so funny and cute!!! Miss him!!!
Jerry closes with ," Don't do anything , I wouldn't do."

That was great. So many Jerry funny's.
~RIP Jerry Garcia & Tom Davis~
When I think of what the best image for a sober New Year’s Eve could be... obviously jerry Garcia is the answer
This is fuckin' great
He should have had his own TV show on Food Network
what a gem
I think it's this same set, at midnight you can hear a guy yell "happy fucking New Years!!" And jerry says "same to ya!" He says the same here, just classic
Absolutely fucking hysterical. Jerry was obviously having fun. Would you like something to drink, Tom? LOL
That's Tom Davis from SNL, both are in Rock n Roll Heaven.
Tom and Jerry! 😎👍
This is the greatest thing since, well, the greatest thing........
This is hysterical
Jerry Killin it in the kitchen
Funny funny funny 450° for 20 minutes, how tasty is those carbon treats.
Chef Jerry: "I think I'll let them cool for awhile" !
1:49 Jerry looks at us with evilness. Perhaps it's not ginger ale.
"I'm not a health nut." That's understating it a bit, isn't it?
Lmao @ the bag he's got the powdered sugar in
anybody else notice jerry's voice changes completely when turns his head
wow, Garcia, Bird, McHale and Kesey. That must be some of that special South American powdered sugar.

for your holiday cooking>>>
Bacon wrapped dates are lovely too-just try to use the type with no pits, or warn your dining guests of pits (for obvious reasons)
the proof is in the punch!
1:48 HE DID THE THING!!
Is that Larry Bird and Kevin McHale in the beginning? How wonderfully random.
@drrocky ~~ Yeah, you're right. I don't know what I was thinking.
Ha ha ha, ...hot , wish I could have tasted one then too. Tom Davis never introduced himself. Why was this not pursued back then as a daily TV show? a bowl of "punch" and a big bag of white stuff...same old Jerry!
When Jerry says "It's Hot!" you better believe it!
straight as an arrow
It's funny all Jerry's recommendations for heating temp is 450* lol yet lots of people know 350*. I dont think he like waiting longer for food lol
lol, Jerry picks his nose with his thumb then goes "simply roll the nut on the bacon like i'm doing here.."lol
Bundt Cake wedges, sure that powdered sugar is a nice kick too!
Dude, isn't it ironic that you, Richard Simmons, thinks this is gay? The stuff that you do doesn't come off so hetero most of the time! super funny lol
“Powdered sugar”
"Don't do anything I wouldn't do." hehehe
Is that Kesey?
He dosed em. See Ya !!!
@cliffbattles I think he's probably joking about them being hot, they were probably cooked beforehand for the skit. Which makes it even funnier to me!
any mushrooms?
And jerry grabs the tray out of the oven with his bare hand... love it
Look again Cody... he has an oven mitt on
He looks like chef boyardee with a beard
That's not Jerry that's Mr. Food
he duz sy a bit there, huh? cool. missing him madly/
@brainslks Sorry. I wasn't commenting about Al Franken. I like the guy too. I was only making a quote from this video .... not putting Al Franken down at all. But I can see where you would take it that way. Sorry again.
"powdered sugar" eh?
This coming from a guy who listens to emo music, teenage girls listen to, pre-puberty. Just checked his channel.
What's in the punch!
"Sprinkle liberally the powdered sugar" TD-"Doesn't that look good?" Looking at the bag of sugar Garcia has a flash-back of bags of powder, tin foil, lighters, clear ammonia, carpets with hundreds of cigarette burns around the chair....................
