@@timeup2549 We all have been learning English always- it is most of our’s second language. Dutch is something different and just beautiful. It’s always nice to learn new language I think. 😄
@@timeup2549 he's just saying that the advertisement seems to be legit, you don't need to be a genius to get it. why is it always the case that smartasses have mid to below-average IQs?
No we don’t. To foreigners it may seem like we do but we actually don’t. It’s just normal speed also compared to native speakers of other languages (our speed is similar to native English or German speakers). This is simply a matter of not being fluent (in understanding) a foreign language. If you were learning a different foreign language, you’d have the exact same problem. We Dutchies usually have the same problem with speakers of a Romance language like French, Italian or Spanish. On average, as a nation, we are not fluent enough in those languages to be able to deal with those languages when spoken at a normal speed.
@@speerboom Well yeah, obviously this is true for anyone learning any language. I was simply saying that indeed as someone learning Dutch I often find it sounds really fast to me, as the foreigner learning Dutch. As you said hopefully that will improve in time
@@leeeeuwtje I had the same problem. I HAVE the same problem. I can speak English, German and Spanish well enough so that those languages don’t cause me a lot of problems when spoken at normal speed. French however fucks me up all the time. I had French at school so I do know a lot of vocabulary and enough grammar to actually sort of sound okay-ish. (What I mentally do is I speak Spanish and replace all the words with the corresponding French ones. This usually works fine and I can even speak French at a fairly decent speed). This however tricks the French into thinking that I actually speak decent French. (Which I don’t because underneath it’s all Spanish). That makes them talk to me at a normal speed. And then I’m fucked because I need more time understanding French than I need to speak it. I use the same trick when speaking Portuguese and Italian. Since I only have rudimentary knowledge of those languages (I never had them at school) it works far worse than when speaking French. The Italians and Portuguese notice that immediately and slow down for me. And then we can communicate. Slowly but we usually get there.
@@speerboom I learnt German first before Dutch so I screw up by confusing German words and grammar with Dutch all the time! My brain hears something in Dutch, tries to translate it into English first so I know how to respond and then has to translate it again into Dutch to form a response by which time I’ve already thrown in a few ‘Germanisms’ here and there. Luckily most of the Dutch think it’s ‘cute’

I had given up on Dutch a few years ago but after seeing THIS GUY now I have my motivation back. 🥵
I'm from Germany and I love the Dutch language, don't ask me why. It's crazy that I was able to understand almost everything, even without looking at the subtitles!
I walked in the very spot next to the old domkerk where this video starts and stood by the Oudegracht as well. Because of this video, I traveled to the Netherlands. I was not disappointed! Thank you Easy Dutch. 🎉
Hope that was close. 😅
For now, I can understand like 5 words in dutch but I want to get used to the sound of the language and the slow pace helps me keep up and try to compare the differences between English and Dutch so thank you!!
Groete uit Suid Afrika! Ek praat Afrikaans( 17de eeuse Nederlands gemeng met Malay). Ek is besig om Standaard Nederlands te leer. Dankie vir 'n baie mooi video!
Stefania who represented my country, Greece, in the Eurovision Song Contest was raised in Utrecht! I wanted so much to learn more about this city! Thank you, Easy Dutch team!
Another excellent video, managing to combine really easy language with sensible and informative content! Many thanks and congratulations to the presenter: please do continue to make videos like this.
I am also in a learning Dutch language phase and I will also try to make a video for my youtube channel in same like manner (slow dutch). This is a great idea to learn and understand Dutch.Big thanks to you.
Your videos are so precious and useful for my Dutch studies, dankjewel! I would love to see a super easy Dutch video about Rotterdam and the Dutch school/university system :)
Dankjewel voor de verklaringen en een heel makkelijke nederlands. Vele mensen zijn te ongeduldig (?) om nederlands langzam te spreken en wilen dan engels praten zodat men niet nederlands leert.
Hello, I'm currently learning dutch. I'm a begginer and I would like to get to know more the special dates for the country, such as holidays, festivities and so on. Thanks and great job!
we have a holiday called Koningsdag every april 27! we all celebrate the king/queen at the time and take part in festivities and such ^ sorry for bad english ☺️
Belgium also speaks dutch, french ,english ,(german and spanish. you're not required to know these. But on the east side they speak german.) We can speak a lot of languages.
Indonesia was occupied by Dutch for hundred years..but none of us can speak Dutch now...btw, I love all the old buildings constructed by Dutch, at least we have some European atmosphere in Indonesia
with a bit of initial effort I could understand the most you said. My German helps a lot. But I would need more explanations of how to read and pronounce . Good job and idea anyway. Thx a lot
It's not that difficult . It's very easy. And if you can't speak it than there is no problem. In school (Belgium)we have to learn 3 languages(French, Dutch and English) German and Spanish is not obligated. I can all the 5 languages.
such a difficult language! Not sure why people say it's close to English. It seems totally different, and the words are very complicated to remember. God save me in my Inburgeeen exam.
This man´s accent is a good model to follow for foreign learners.
I speak german so I convinced myself I can learn dutch by watching videos, lol. at this speed I understand everything
Actually, when he speaks in this pace, it’s literally so easy to understand. This is so helpful. Thank you so much team Easy Language Dutch. 🙌🤩
What's something metaphorically so easy to understand? You should learn English before learning Dutch.
