    I saw a ghost at Maudlam church ( the church at the start of this video) around 50 years ago. He was walking quite slowly from the front door of the church down the path through the graves to the main gate and back again. He was dressed in a monks long brown gown with a big hood with a white rope around his waist. I was walking through a field 40 metres away on a public footpath and just about to go over the wooden stile (there is a kissing gate there now) I had a very good view because we were at a similar elevation as the road between the field and the graveyard drops down. As he was about 6 metres away from the church door he stopped and looked over at me, there was no face there, just a dark void. I ran like the wind!! I was 10 years old. It had such an impact on me that I still remember every detail. Even today when I walk past the church I still have chills running up and down my spine. It was summertime about 10pm, the light was fading but it was still quite light.

    I remember the stories as we hiked along Merthyr Mawr from my parents. Great times. A packet of crisps and a shandy in Nottage later, wonderful.

    My mother saw a woman wearing a dark hooded cloak carrying a baby from the direction of Ogmore Castle to the Pelican Pub. The woman looked frightened and looking over her shoulder while running, my mum only realised she was a ghost when they stepped in front of the car and she ran them over., they just passed through the car on impact. Mum did stop the car and get out worried incase she had run people over but there was no-one in the road, no damage on the car but still reported to Police. Despite my research, to this day we still don't know who the ghostly woman with a baby is....

    • @flydriveexplore
      @flydriveexplore  3 роки тому +2

      The remains of buildings around the pool are quite late, there used to be a boathouse on the northside. It's worth watching the Time Team episode if you haven't seen it when they excavate the actual town near Kenfig Castle.

    Very good video... there aren't many UA-cam vids about ghosts in Wales so this was a pleasant surprise and it was good too, not over the top amateur dramatics and if the history doesn't match the story I like that you've pointed that out too.

      What is worse is that some of the sheep stealers are butchering them in the fields and just taking the meat. They are leaving the butchered ewe carcasses next to the lambs who are crying for their mothers. The farmers who find this the next morning are devastated. If you see anything suspicious, phone the police please. Don't approach the rustlers, they are organised gangs and are dangerous.
