If a bird locks up at 50-60 yards, I let them walk. To me, that is part of the hunt...to concede that sometimes the bird wins. Personally, and I know there are a lot of opinions, but I like a 20-25 yard shot. I was involved in shots of less than 15 yards twice last year. Close birds are quite a thrill, and a testament to good calling and a well-thought setup.
